I think my favorite "Los Angeles as charater" movies are Crimson Kimono (1959), Point Blank (1967), Targets (1968) and Chinatown (1974), all of which feature the city in starring roles alongside its human counterparts.
During DOUBLE INDEMNITY, you skipped the OAK CREST grocery store on Ventura Blvd., near the Studio City / Universal City line. The store stills exists, intact as it was when the film was made -- even the interior resembles the interior in the film. The real mystery is, apart from the deserved preservation of the exterior, this location is in such a state of disrepair, one would think that it should have never survived. Consider including in a future revision of your documentary,
