Why are people comparing the two bands? saying Boy & Bear is like Mumford in Sons is like saying Peanut Butter is like Nutella. Both good, but completely different.

Mumford and Sons have songs that will destroy A selection of boy and bear songs. That's not to say songs like feeding line and blood to gold have no power over it at all. These two bands I'd have to say sit pretty equal in their genre of music

I don't know they're more thoughtful, I think they're just very differing styles of lyric writing. Marcus Mumford is brutally honest and puts his thoughts across clearly in a series of imagery, whereas Dave...Dave is a little more cryptic.
