Race - civil rights in USA was very slow at changing and is still pretty shit, not to mention women's rights and young people's rights. The USA has not produced anything of value here. I think if there is one reason more than any other why people hate America, It's that America has such a large presence in the world today. It was the same with Rome, Spain, Britain, etc. someday another country, maybe China, will be in our position. People will undoubtably find reasons to hate it too.

I believe it is very naive to say it is "somewhere inbetween". You cant classify a country as, inbetween. The US has done a lot more good for this world than bad. Yet, I know the US has problems. But the fact of the matter is, the world would struggle without a lot of our influence. Yes, people from different countries who meet face to face very often get on well because they either share a desire to travel and meet other people or one person is showing an interest in the other person's country. Youtube can break down misunderstandings but can also confirm prejudices. I also went to France this year and had a great time. Cappl, Yes USa helped remove Hitler. However when USa entered WW2. USSR had won at Leningrad,Staligrad and Moscow and by 1942 had the largest army in the world building things faster than Germany.
Britain had also won in West and east africa and the battle of Britain before USA turned up.

The USA and their actions after and during WW2 were CLEARLY VERY IMPORTANT. To remove Hitler and the naziregime - the battle for france and the following invasion of germany from the west were one KEYFACTOR to beat nazigermany. The USA played a big role there and about this can not be argued! Further the modern democratic germany (the BRD) has only been possible because of the actions of the USA after the war!
Instead of destroying it, they rebuild it, denazified it and established a democratic gouvernment. Germany was and is thankful for this and you can clearly read this context in every german history book! I*m saying it that clearly to prevent further misunderstandings. ah and btw.

Actually, America was more interested in the Normandy landings. Most of the troops who liberated Italy were British and from the British Empire. It is not true to say that America was responsible for the removal of Hitler; it was the allies that did it and the first troops to reach Berlin were Russian.

Yes, people from different countries who meet face to face very often get on well because they either share a desire to travel and meet other people or one person is showing an interest in the other person's country. Youtube can break down misunderstandings but can also confirm prejudices. I also went to France this year and had a great time. The French are a very proud people, if you respect that they can be totally charming.

Cappl, Yes USa helped remove Hitler. However when USa entered WW2. USSR had won at Leningrad,Staligrad and Moscow and by 1942 had the largest army in the world building things faster than Germany.
Britain had also won in West and east africa and the battle of Britain before USA turned up.
We were very much winning already.

THIS sentence is dangerous! You*re talking about the peace treaty of versaille here - it is ONE factor, but you can*t put the whole guilt on the winners of WW1 (/france).
You can find the reasons for the rise of the NSDAP within the german political structure of that time - it is entirely the guilt of the germans and factors like the treaty of Versailles are rather important as propaghanda arguments.

The USA and their actions after and during WW2 were CLEARLY VERY IMPORTANT. To remove Hitler and the naziregime - the battle for france and the following invasion of germany from the west were one KEYFACTOR to beat nazigermany. The USA played a big role there and about this can not be argued! Further the modern democratic germany (the BRD) has only been possible because of the actions of the USA after the war!

Instead of destroying it, they rebuild it, denazified it and established a democratic gouvernment. Germany was and is thankful for this and you can clearly read this context in every german history book! I*m saying it that clearly to prevent further misunderstandings. ah and btw.

Oh, and history books? Poor choice of evidence, especially books from the land in question - history is written by the winners, after all.
Of course, distant countries' history books aren't necessarily better - that Brazilian book about Sweden and our main export, soft whey butter transported by reindeer sleighs...

cpb sorry I deleted instead of replying. I don't see how you can say that America took Sicily. True, there were 7 divisions in the US 7th army but this was more than balanced by the 8 divisions of the British 8th Army.

Actually, America was more interested in the Normandy landings. Most of the troops who liberated Italy were British and from the British Empire. It is not true to say that America was responsible for the removal of Hitler; it was the allies that did it and the first troops to reach Berlin were Russian.

China,USSR,British empire all liberated more land from the japanese than USA in WW2.
All USA did was take tiny islands guarded by very few men and nuke defncless civillans while the rest of us of allies did the real fighting.

I saw many videos on YouTube, which were intended to be the release point for a debate about problems this and that nation faces and how to solve them - ending up in comments written by peoples of other nations making fun of it... this is pointless and unconstructive

They didnt win it on there own did they. It was the USA,French, Spanish netherlands and canadians that helped them. Plus the 3,000 miles of sea that took several months to cross. And our king was clinically insane. And didnt know were America was. So he wouldnt authorize the money for the army to cross. so he just let them have it.

British social and cultural identity is more informed by American constitutionalism and popular culture then ours is defined by a *ahem* statue.
