  • who will take the place of these great artists

  • RIP Wilma.

  • Class Act!!

  • Hello HALL OF FAME?!?! Is anyone listening out there? Stoney's already gone. Must they wait until this wonderful lady is gone before they think about honoring the Queen of Mountain Music? Please, induct her and Stoney! Beautiful vid.

  • Joe Edwards could really play the fiddle!

  • good pure country...no pretense of anything else!

  • I thought only Rose Maddox could sing this song, boy oh boy was I wrong. Excellent lady and music on this song. Thanks.

  • What a talented lady!!!

  • Great

  • Boy I played this song alot. I loved the work Wilma Lee did. One of my favorite times playing music I was with her from 1984 to 1996 alot of good times on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Oh yea, I am the nephew not son of Uncle Josh even though I loved him like he was my dad. Thanks for posting this video. Tim Graves

  • Tim , Thanks for the comment , I enjoyed Your Uncle alot ,I had a chance to play on stage with Him in Wisconsin in 1997 , He did a set with My old Mod 27 and said it reminded Him of His Julie Dobro, also saw You with My Friend Shad Cobb and Bobby Osborne in Hayword Wisconsin

  • extraordinary lady with talent!!!!....one of the best from Grand Ole Opry....absolutely flawless!!!

  • BTW Tim Graves, on dobro, is the son of the late great Burkett (Uncle Josh) Graves of Flat and Scrugs fame. Still carring on a family tradition.

  • I believe Tim was a Nephew to Josh , not His Son , But still a Great Dobro Player

  • This is another sad song but Wilma does a good job with this and everything else she has done. We, too , met her backstage at the Opry, as guests of The Four Guys. She was so friendly and so sweet and you could tell she loved her music and was so grateful for all her fans. She's always given credit to the musicians who back her up as we can see here. I always loved her sweet ruffly dresses - her signature look - I wanted some of them myself. Thanks for this video. - Paula

  • Howdy!

Does someone from when this is?

maybe late 80's or early 90's?

    thanks

  • This is from a tape I starting making in the late 80s , I taped up until about 94 , I found the tape last year when i went back to My home. I live in Mexico

  • Definitely done during the Mullet era!! Check out the dobro player!!

  • Right up there with Kitty Wells. One of my favourite country singers.

    Ken, Toronto

  • love you wilma and your music you are one of the ladys of country and western music.....

  • makes me sad and happy to hear this, thank you.

  • I Also met Wilma Lees daughter backstage at the Opry, when My Wife and I was a guest of Charlie Louvin, She is a really nice Lady also a very beautiful lady, I Loved Wilma Lee and really miss Her and Stoney Thank You for all of the Memories

  • Yes, thank you for posting this video. Wilma Lee is certainly one of the greatest of country and bluegrass music. I've had the chance to meet both her and her daughter, Carole Lee of the Opry background singers. They are both divine.

  • What a treat to see and hear Wilma Lee sing again. I listened to her and the late Stoney Cooper over WSM when I was a youngster. In later years I was fortunate to be in the Opry audience numerous times to hear her sing and play in person. She is a wonderful, humble, down-to-earth lady. Has not been in good health since suffering a stroke back around 2001. Wilma Lee is a class act - the REAL DEAL! We still love you Wilma Lee! MoJoPiano

  • Thanks for posting this! Wilma Lee has such a beautiful and honest sounding voice. If you are new to Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper I recommend "The very best of Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper and the Clinch Mountain Clan" on the Varese Vintage label.

  • Wilma Lee is one of my all time favorites, Her daughter is really nice too, She is a background singer at the GO Opry really nice person, Thanks

  • That's Joe Edwards playing fiddle for her. He also played guitar for her and Stoney. Originally from Monroe County, Indiana, Joe is a great fingerstyle guitarist who plays in the styles of Chet Atkins and Les Paul. He has been part of the Opry staff band for years. Wilma's daughter Carol Lee leads the vocal group that provides most of the background singing on the Opry.

  • Thanks for posting this..I only wished you had a tape that included her husband Stoney...

  • Stoney was the stage name of my great uncle Dale. When I was a kid he would come home to the family reunion in Mouth of Seneca W. Va. He reminded me of Rhett Butler. She was always dressed in those big western dresses. He was a great fiddle player and she was an awesome singer.

  • Sorry for that Matthew, I am using a Dazzle device to capture from VHS tapes that I have had for over 20 years
