i think it was masterfull and gutsy desition by Sly to kill the Adrian character... it created such a huge aura around the memory of her... it turned Adrian into the most important thing not only Rocky`s life but also in Paulie`s... in the last movie you could see and feel that without her everything felt empty...

Why on earth was this scene deleted? Apparantly it was too cut down time but surely they could of cut out one of the scenes with the pointless character that is marie out. Deleting this scene was disrepectful to Burt Young, hes breath taking here.

Sometime its time constraints other times it just does not fit into the budget. I don't know the reasons for all, but I do know it is a film rule.

@LTG22 Yep - you guys are dead right. It is a known film rule and even has a name or two - "killing your babies" or "killing your darlings". As I understand it (from a screenwriting POV) it is a way to make all of the other scenes you write that much better - so if you kill your best scene, you force yourself to make the others great - that is how I understand it anyhow and just sharing. Great scene here - thanks for posting it!!

When you think of it threw the entire history of the rocky movies, Paulie was a jerk and bitter and anger, but with all the trainers Rocky had from 3 to here Paulie was always in his corner.
