It's a common misconception that he got a straight red. It was a second yellow, which is fair enough for booting the ball at someone. But Rivaldo was rightly fined for simulation.

So you play 59 games and don't dive, then in one you dive because the other team are milking it and you can be judged on that one game? Sounds self righteous to me!
