Ryoga is my favorite male Ranma 1/2 character, mainly because he NEVER gives up, and no matter how hard you beat him, you gotta almost KILL him to K.O. his ass.

and the scenes of Ryoga in the desert in his cloak and goggles were hardcore stuff, almost like Ryoma off Shin Getter Robo. 5 stars for content, and another 5 for technical skill!

Personally, the real deal with Ranma and Ryoga is that they always seem to match each other in terms of fighting ability whenever they had fought.

It is only at the end that Ranma had upped the ante against his rivals but I'm sure ol' Bacon Breath would not be that far behind.

Ranma got the speed, that makes him so fast to avoid the attacker. One of the reasons why he always beat his opponents, he allso loose acouple of times to ryoga. Ranma isn't the strongest, but it's his speed that helps him.

Ryoga got the strength to beat everyone, he's strong. I would say hes the strongest in the whole ranma½ serie. But his weakness is that he's abit slow and can be tricked to loose a match (specially by ranma)

The Ranma/Ryoga rivalry is part of the series. Ryoga was designed by the author to be, and don't give me a Naruto comment here please, Ranma's 'Eternal Rival.' When you take Ranma's three main enemies: Ryoga, Mousse and Kuno, it's Ryoga who always comes back with a new technique or more training to push Ranma further.

As for him getting cut slack, he does get some happiness in the end of the series, and Ranma rarely intentionally seaks to make his life miserable... it just sorta happens.
