When my godsons were being committed to the Lord, my husband and I went to a packed church in a small town that had a wonderful choir but no musician. I asked my godson's grandmother if the church would mind if I played for the choir. She almost pushed me out of my seat. I played during the remainder of the service. In a town where I barely know anyone, there's a lot of people that know me now. I was just glad to help.

@kizzlentertainment true, but that still doesn't negate the fact that music (especially for the Lord) is powerful. a lot of times a preacher needs help to get the congregation to an emotional high, that's where music plays its role. The Power is in The Word nonetheless

Trust me. I'm a former organist/keyboardist for a church and have been so for 8 years. There is a reason why they couldn't find one. The pay is probably poor and the songs are probably old and pastor likely travels a lot.

I have raised a family, and it is me time now. I have been playing since I was 8 yrs old. I do not know how to read music. So that is my reason for going back so that I can learn to read music. It is a small community college in New Jersey. My teacher is awesome. She is a graduate of Julliard with a masters in music performance. You know she is God sent, and so were you. Well, consider II Kings 3:15 when Elisha called for a musician. If you read the verses before it, you'll see that he had a little attitude, but once the musician played, "the hand of the Lord came upon him."
It's not about getting a reaction from the people. Believe it or not, musicians can help the minister to minister and the people to recieve it. The connection, therefore, is between music and spirit.
Yeah I'm going to have to agree with Jamal. To comment on whoever made the second comment's quote. As a musician most churchs turn all instruments on before church starts, so if somebody comes in the church and knows how to play it won't be a distraction turning on the instruments. You got to go to church to no this.
Hey I'm the guy who hopped on the organ. I can vouch that it wasn't staged. Periodically he would have guest organ players come in and play and sometime the piano player would try to get on the organ, but was really just a piano player. So what it was, was a couple of the PIANO musicians on hand to play during different parts of the service and occasionally they would hop on the organ, so they always kept it on.
I can attest this was definitely the first time this has ever happened to me and I have never spoken to this pastor ever before. Only visited the church once or twice.

Jive, Jive, that is not an organ, and you could preach just fine without that jazz going on behind you to distract us. Please try to keep the cool jive out of a worship service. I used to do the same thing until I heard from God. There is a thin line between worship and show business. Keep your eye on HIM and not on the music.

This is isn't staged..im guessing you dont go to church and you dont know the type of enviroment. Alot of people in church are musically gifted. In any given church service there could be 5-10 musicians in the audience.
Why would he plan this? Did you see how happy the congregation was to hear organ being put to use. Perhaps their normal organist was ill or moonlighting.

Press the starter switch. Count slowly to eight.
Push the run. Hold both for at least 4.
Let go of the starter. The Leslie wont be fully warmed during this phase.

Hey I'm the guy who hopped on the organ. I can vouch that it wasn't staged. Periodically he would have guest organ players come in and play and sometime the piano player would try to get on the organ, but was really just a piano player. So what it was, was a couple of the PIANO musicians on hand to play during different parts of the service and occasionally they would hop on the organ, so they always kept it on.

I can attest this was definitely the first time this has ever happened to me and I have never spoken to this pastor ever before. Only visited the church once or twice.

Jive, Jive, that is not an organ, and you could preach just fine without that jazz going on behind you to distract us. Please try to keep the cool jive out of a worship service. I used to do the same thing until I heard from God. There is a thin line between worship and show business. Keep your eye on HIM and not on the music.

This is isn't staged..im guessing you dont go to church and you dont know the type of enviroment. Alot of people in church are musically gifted. In any given church service there could be 5-10 musicians in the audience.
