The women in the video said that the dancers danced Debussy. How can a human who read these lines even try to do this?
Duncan made those comments based on feelings towards some -not all - of Debussy's music. Saying his music has "no message to the spirit" or is "all inward" is like saying Duncan dancing is all barefoot prancing and faux-Greek affectation. Both attitudes are a discredit to both artists.
I also wonder how the more rapid playing of classical music today impacts the faster Duncan dances. These dancers look like puppets being jerked along by the music's rapidity -- just a lack of skill, or did Duncan in fact do these dances to music that was slower?
I think you're the angry person. I am hypothesizing that because classical music is played at a more rapid pace nowadays, this dance be distorted from its orginal intention. Hey, the dancers are skilled, it's hard to dance too fast. But the dance itself is ugly and I am wondering why. So chill out and learn to read more carefully.
May i ask for the name of the song at the beginning and at the end, please?

Stop arguing and enjoy the beautiful movements. They are paying homage to this wonderful dancer/choreographer/mystic.

Nice to learn about this dance, a reaction against the empty spectacle of late 19th century.
I see a dance with more communcative power..... love the modern music - at the time.

Hard to see the performance for the ugly cluttered background. Duncan used plain, sky blue curtains and one can see why.
