@theboyfromxtown Hello, and thanks for your comment(s). The Motown songs that I extended were part of a Karaoke package by "The Singing Machine" that supplied both original vocals and instrumentals on the discs. They have since ceased production and sadly "Needle in a Haystack" was the only Velvelettes song included. I am always looking for Motown Instrumentals and accapellas from the 1960's to give a 1970's treatment , however.
The poster for the Battle of the Stars has been cut at the bottom. The Velvelettes always notice that.....on the bil on the same night there was a guest act...the Miracles
Little did the ladies know that not only Smokey, but Mr Gordy himself was in the audience. Norma noticed them together and told the other ladies during the performance.
...........so you better take heed.....and listen to me....you better play hard to get...or you're gonna regret.... the day you were born girll..when he leaves you alone girl..good guys are liking finding a (needle in a haystack).....oh girls, its like finding a (needle in a haystack)...you better listen to me girls
Needle and Saying Something were their hits..... can't you hear the Motown? HA .... I think the competition and nepotism was a bit too much and the were pushed out of the spotlight before they got in it good.
@Mongo76: LOL! I listen to more than Gospel, however, Gospel is the vast majority of all I've posted onto YouTube. But when you hear about female groups, names that are frequently mentioned include The Supremes, The Vandellas, Shirelles, Dixie Cups, and a few others. I'm thankful for YouTube, b/c I've learned of several groups that should've received MUCH more recognition! Thanks!
I so love this mix. and I'm playing it every day...Thank you
Any chance of you trying out another Velvelettes tune, like Lonely Lonely Girl Am I please. No one has attempted it yet. The 45 has more punch but give me those strings from the stereo version. Note that the Anthology version has the less common alternative lead vocal; it is the well known version that needs to carry
the track. Here's hoping......
You can be sure that I will get the ladies to hear it themselves.
