The sight of these wonderful musicians, that just lost an equally wonderful musician from their own band, and knowing that they are carrying on playing with him in their hearts, is really touchingt. However sad it may be with LeRoi's death, they need to carry on the best way they can, and by God they have done so.

Well, I'm nineteen and I didn't become a fan until after LeRoi passed away. That is one of the few things i regret in life. I wish I had been turned on to them sooner. However, I feel that I came in at a perfect time. Now, they are writing and playing music with such a great level of emotion, I feel as if I've been a fan forever. I've been a fan for only six or seven months and I bet I love them just as much as the next guy.

The whole album is pretty much dedicated to Leroi. I mean he was known to them as GrooGrux, hence the GrooGrux King. So anytime you hear Dave sing a lyric about this GrooGrux he is talking about Leroi. "I'll be dancin' with the GrooGrux King." "Heaven or Hell I'm going down with the GrooGrux King" Also the first track is Leroi, just him, playin sax for his final time on a DMB album.

FYI Mase822 and others, the song is not Sister. It's a track off the new album called "My Baby Blue". (all the songs on this clip are from Big Whiskey). Guitar sounds similar to sister and strummed yes, but different tempo and those lower notes after the high rift are different too. Rock on Dave , the new album is killer. Everytime I see and hear Dave announce the tragic news of LeRoi's passing at that show, I think of how hard that must have been to do and I actually almost cry a little.

I can only imagine how tough it must be to put on a show the day your best friend and original member of the band passes on. Congrats Dave and Company, please keep doin what you're doin, and play the shit outta this album.

I've been reading a lot of comments about "why didn't songs like sister, cornbread, shotgun, etc." make the album? I was definitely shocked to see the track list absent of these numbers as well (not gonna lie, i wanted to hear a studio version of cornbread REALLY BAD). So here's my theory: Alligator Pie (Cockadile) is actually Cornbread (IN DISGUISE!), just as You and Me is Sister, Squirm is Shotgun, so on and so forth. Just saying this to make myself feel better...shutin' up now.

pretty powerful stuff here. it sounds like they were going to break up and this may be their last album. i sure hope not. i love this band so much. it sounds like they need direction. why are they always changing producers?? some of the new songs sound good or radio friendly. but what puzzles me is great songs like shotgun, crazy easy, cornbread, sugar will and many others aren't going to make this record. why? it's like they write these great songs and just keep them as concert songs. why??

Not a fan of the recording style of Everyday and Stand Up, but the music on both albums are awesome. When performed live, you can tell it's DMB music. So even if the sound of this album seems unique, hearing the stuff live this spring and summer will be epic. The first live album they release with these tunes on it will be sweet. Lookin fwd to the next live album a bit more than this studio one. And I'm thinking if DMB might take a break after this album.They make it seems like this isthe finale

Okay DMB....you've set this album up to be elite...and the past two have been disappointing, no two ways around it. The expectations are so high on this from fans, because of LeRoi's death, and from what the band itself is saying about Groogrux. "If this is my last album that I ever make, it's the only album that I hope people listen to." I think they deliver.

Stand Up was awful, but Busted Stuff was very good in my opinion. Nothing like the big three, but a great album nonetheless. And Some Devil was great but if you count that, but it wasn't DMB.

In any case, Groogrux King will be epic. You have that quote as well as Carter saying "this is my best work," so there is no doubt that it will be quite the record.
