Actually the Su-27 is far more agile than the Mig-29, I still think it depends on the pilot though. Some aces can take out Migs no problem with the Su and vice versa with other pilots, depends on what they can fly better.

I agree with you that Taiwan is a free nation, but it is also my belief that the next major world conflict will be caused by China attempting to reclaim it. Incidentally, if Taiwan is counted as China, it makes them just big enough to be larger than the US. ;-)

The reason I brought up China is that they are a communist country that has invested far less in colateral damage control than the US, I would doubt if they've put a dime toward it. The US being in Iraq is most likely wrong, but war itself is not a war crime. A war crime is a violation of the standard international rules of war, which the US tries as hard as any other nation to adhere by.

The US committed war crimes ever since in almost every war they've been in. And about China? Where the hell did I say yellow and heartless? I pointed out, very specifically, that the Chinese are not as well-suited to avoiding collateral damage as the US. I used them as an example because they are a major military power, and I felt that using Russia would seem too cliche. Listen, I don't agree with the war in Iraq, it's pointless, but I do believe that when the US has gone to war over a good cause (1990-1991) it has done an excellent job of doing the best it can.

Countering your points in order. Submunition weaponry is intended for use against armored vehicles and is highly efficient in taking out targets over a large area. It is NOT intended for close-in urban warfare. Depleted Uranium ammunition is the most efficient way of penetrating any armor known to man, allowing our men and women in the field and in the skies an advantage against enemies whose armor may not be penetrable otherwise. Look up the GBU-39.

I remember italian fushers being killed by it during the war in Kosovo. depleted uranium ain't that necessary when you know that tanks are mainly killed by choppers or bombers. "technological advantage " is pretty useless in urban warfare, being able to identify an enemy tank at 5km and kill it at 3.5km won't make any difference in a city.

By technology, I specifically refer to the Air Force. With proper intelligence, they can surgically strike a given location better than any other force in the world. Sadly, intelligence is not always perfect, like when we accidentally bombed a coffee shop. This is a sad truth of warfare and cannot be avoided by any force regardless of nationality. Urban warfare sucks, no one can do well at it, but the US troops are prepared better than anyone to do the task.

You're thinking about the 1990s when Russia was really strapped for cash, and couldn't even afford the fuel for it's aircraft. Russia today is very different. Their economy has made a startling recovery, and are beginning to pour money into their military again; including investing into training for their pilots using simulation, exercises and mock combat.

M1 tanks are too heavy to operate in any battlefield. No engineer bridge can hold it, its underpowered and has many mechanical failures. It may be fairly invincible against mud-tanks with poor ammo and low cuality armor.
