It was definately an e36 not e30 and whether it was a M3 is questionable unless you know the driver personally, it did have M3 sport mirrors but you can put those on a civic these days. I agree with jason I dont think the bmw was tryin he didn't appear to get on the throttle at all.

Stock M3 is faster than a Stock GSX, but not the e30 featured in this video, which only has like 190hp,(being that old!), and the GSX has something higher than that (Dk the exact number). BUT the new M3 Has 344HP...And I guess its preferance, because I dont care how fast my car is as long as its fast, and I dont like compromising looks just go a little faster. For me any M3 > any Eclipse

Just to put things in prespective, I've owned both cars...My first car was a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (the worst decision I've ever made in my life), and about 8 months after I bought it, I sold it and bought a 1998 BMW M3, both cars were stock when I bought them, and trust me the GSX would get it's ass raped..

For what it's worth, I love my '99 GSX and would pick it any day over an M3. I've had it for 4 or 5 years now and have had Zero problems. It's fun as hell to drive, looks great, and the *cheap* mod potential is great. It's just a matter of preference really.
The reason DSMs have such a big and devoted following is not because they run quick times stock. It's because they can be made quick as hell for almost no money. 11s for $1-2k is not uncommon. And at the extreme they are unbeatable. The fastest 4-cyl in the world (6.97@198) is a '99 GSX, and the fastest AWD in the world (7.70@191) is an all turbo 5 speed Talon owned, tuned, and run by John Shepherd, which I believe was street driven, full interior, & a/c, into the 8s.
I'm kinda confused what you mean. The numbers like 6.97@198 are 1/4 mile. Supras are monsters. Many street-driven Supras have 1,000 or more whp. They usually aren't the best at hooking up, but from freeway speeds they are crazy.
Lol, well that's kind of too general of a thing to say. Supras are nice cars. They cost a hell of a lot more than most DSMs though. I don't know exactly what Supras generally run with what mods, $ invested, etc. If you have a pretty good amount of money, I'm sure you'd be happy with a Supra TT. I'd say DSMs are sure as hell a bettter band for your buck though, but then again I'm pretty biased. :)
