  • dude hate to say it but TAKE CARE of that car or ditch the 3100 for a 3800 .... the 31s turn to garbage if not maintained properly I would know its the same model in my 90 Camaro V6 ... previous owner didnt care for it at all .... engines crap and the trannys all but burnt out completely damn 700R4s are shit

  • I'm actually doing a 3400 swap, motor is almost finished. I have been running with the 3100 since I bought the car three years ago, and with proper maintenance I have had no issues as of yet. She's about to roll over 170k here soon as well.

  • @MurphSexy86 I'm almost at the 162 k mark and it idles between 1500 and 1600 rpm, and the tranny draws the shifts out till they're in the red zone .... 6500 is where the automatic shifts. I need to overhaul it completely, far as I can tell the timing in the motors off as well as the injecters need cleaning and the vacume seals probably broke loosing suction causing the idle and shift problems

  • @MurphSexy86 Dunno what ITS4390 is talking about...neither does he. The 90 Beretta never had a 3100, it had the 3.1, which is *not* the same engine. The 3100 came after the 3.1 and is a different generation *based on* the 3.1. But not the same thing. My 1991 GT has a 3.1 with almost 216,000 k. Completely stock except for Bosch Platinum plugs and Bosch wires, synthetic oil. Runs smooth, runs clean. The 3.1s will run forever if you take care of them. Your car needs a 5-speed like mine. ;)

  • @ITS4390 well mine has a 3.1 with 181,000 miles on it right now and still going and really haven't had to do much maintenance to it most the time i dont even get the oil changed on time or anything and its still running like a champ

  • fake

  • Elaborate?

  • just saying this but i would have put my money into something else... just my opinion

  • Eh, I've always loved the lines and body style of these cars, and it's fun to fix up a car that you don't see fixed up as well lol. But yes, I do see your point. The costs to modify are much higher, but I love my car, so it's worth every penny lol.

  • @theman121093 i dont agree with you i love my Beretta z26 and would do anything to keep it on the road you don't see to many nice ones any more most people treat the like carp and then scrap them like 15 years from now when there is not meany left you will see why it was worth it

  • Are you sure its a 4T60E trans and not a 4T45E?

  • Yep, the only other automatic transmission available was a three speed. I used to have one in my old '89 model.
