This film is wonderful. The creator of the film showed that we humans can be the worst in the entire universe. They fought not against each other but we do. Dead and ego is what we are made of. But it may well be aliens who are kind to them, you do not need to learn how to use their weapons working. We should learn from those that do like us. And we can learn something of them.

Humans are no more capable of controlling their instincts than the other creatures on our planet. It is not about human nature, if you see the film, you'll see that humans tried to help the aliens, but they were so violent and destructive that they were forced to isolate them. this was a fucking good movie, and i cannot believe the reasoning you folks have against it. It had a very good story line, one which was only maybe a bit slow in the beginning. The acting was brilliant (and that was without your Steven Sigal or big time money making actors). And i thought it had necessary underlying morals. How the people of South africa treated the aliens is so typical and true of how humans treat anything different. Brings up alot of racism tensions seen in the world today.

This film is wonderful. The creator of the film showed that we humans can be the worst in the entire universe. They fought not against each other but we do. Dead and ego is what we are made of. But it may well be aliens who are kind to them, you do not need to learn how to use their weapons working. We should learn from those that do like us. And we can learn something of them.

It is not about human nature, if you see the film, you'll see that humans tried to help the aliens, but they were so violent and destructive that they were forced to isolate them. Being less intelligent than the average human, they provided no support for humanity or themselves, and simply took advantage of our help.
If you look at my explanation, you'll see how i might think anyone who parallels the aliens to black people is racist.

the acting was realistic
the plot was great
it was a new thing not the same hollywood crap which is borring
there was almost no love cenes( which I'm tired of)
the action was awesomely done, and everything was unexpected

You seemed oddly defensive for simple critiques in an artistic field. Intelligent movies shouldn't easily label bad guys and good guys, because life is not that simple. In REAL life, there are "sides," and each side thinks the opposition is the bad guy. So in a movie that easily paints one side as the "bad guys" its understandable why intelligent people dislike it. Give me a movie like fight club, where the main character could be good guy for helping average joes or a bad guy for anarchy

This movie was no less than MEDIOCRE at best. It wasn't "of epic proportions". It was a mediocre attempt to exemplify the implied struggles of the apartheid, that's all. You really believe some fucking aliens with Railgun-Effect technology would have a ship float above S. Africa for 20 years? There's no suspension of disbelief in this film, and this is coupled with its poor "mockumentary" style filming.

If aliens were to land here on Earth, I know exactly what would happen. There will be mass panic in the streets, and President Obama would decree a DEFCON 2, and there will be martial law instated in all of the United States hereby.
As far as technology, if aliens had the ability to penetrate U.S. airspace without being detected and/or shot down, then we can only presume that their technology is WELL superior to ours.

Quite the contrary. District 9 was WAY BETTER than Transformers by a wide margin, and I never, ever said this movie was "crap." I said it was MEDIOCRE at best. How am I narrow-minded when you have the gall to assume that I view this movie was crap?
Secondly, the unrealism comes in not just because a ship floats two miles above S. Africa. It comes in at the notion of defenseless aliens with Rail-Gun effect technology that can pulverize their human captors at the drop of a dime.

They landed 20 years ago and when they landed the aliens were malnurished and they couldn't escape because an important piece of equipment fell from it. The humans were scared and the human race will do horrible things in times of danger.

this was a fucking good movie, and i cannot believe the reasoning you folks have against it. It had a very good story line, one which was only maybe a bit slow in the beginning. The acting was brilliant (and that was without your Steven Sigal or big time money making actors). And i thought it had necessary underlying morals. How the people of South africa treated the aliens is so typical and true of how humans treat anything different. Brings up alot of racism tensions seen in the world today.

In fact, in nature, the smarter creatures become, the more violent and judgmental they become. Just look at how herd animals treat albinos, and how wolves react when another wolf invades its territory. You are correct in saying that I can offer no known parallels of what I believe the Human level of tollerance should be. And i agree in saying that one cannot deem humans superior to animals, as we are animals. But you cannot say that we exactly the same as other species. We have a very significant difference - sophisticated, pragmatic intelligence. This is not a superiority in the animal kingdom, but more so an overall disadvantage. A single cell organism has a much higher survival rate than us

Intelligence in nature is nothing special, it doesn't give us godlike powers. We just value intelligence because it helps us to survive, but intelligence brings problems such as conflict (destruction/chaos), and in order to eliminate conflict, you must also eliminate intelligence as well as life. With our intelligence comes our ablity to take a step back and judge our level of society and social interactions, and with that the potential to make changes to it. This is something we have over animals - they, from what we know, cannot judge their society as a whole.
