@SkyGuyXD Yes, I'm fully aware of that, I mentioned that Gold, Silver and Crystal were memorable games just like Red, Blue and Yellow, not that they should be remade. Classic games are good on their own without modern technological advances.

Alternate versions of the classics are nice, of course. But one should never expect to be able to successfully update or remake them. Outdated-ness is part of a classic's charm. ;3

@asian102 i wouldn't say like WoW because i'm sure alot of people out there hate that game and it's ridiculously large fanboy base. but a pokemon game thats 3d, not birds eye view but you control your character like a 3rd person RPG, run around doin what you do in the games... plenty of other players around and limited pokemon spawns depending on rarity and stuff, that would be cool. i can even picture bonus stuff like having your best pokemon walk around with you (provided its not huge)

@monsterhunterminegar Yes, that was a terrific touch, I would have to agree. And back then, it was quite amazing that a portable game could synchronize with something very much real. That day/night system is what made it -that- much more immersible then it's predecessor.

And, the ability to travel back to Kanto and revisit the landscape of the original added a great deal of nostalgia to the game. Not to mention that it extended it quite significantly.

Why would I steal them? Look at my other video's. Then look at my gallery on the 3D warehouse. You'll see that the models match.

I used ''Google SketchUp'' for this entire model. If you can use Paint, you can use SketchUp. It's that easy. ;3

Try searching it with Google, the program is free.

I don't follow. You simply search for ''SketchUp'' on Google, go to the download page, download it. Install it. Open it. And simply create what you want to create.

There are a lot of tutorial on YouTube with tips on how you can create things.

wow the textures are pretty darn accurate! and so are the actual model sizes - what did you use for referance?? [or did you just use accurate-ish estimates for sizes and stuff from your head?]

Well, yes and no. For the landscape I just made one perfect square ,or one step in the game, then I created the textures with use of screenshots to get the color as close as possible to the original, then applied the right textures to different squares. Then by watching closely to the actual game I copied it to the places it needed to go.

For building models I just took the squares that the buildings cover in the game for a base, the rest I did by mere eye measurements.

I reckon it took about 80 hours in total. But back then I used inefficient methods of work, and was a relatively new to the program.

Well, while making this I had an emulator open with the yellow version running. And since old RPG maps like these are aligned by square sections, it was pretty easy to recreate. First I made a perfect square, then created multiple ones with different textures, then it was all up to copy/paste the tiles where I needed them.

As far as the buildings go, I just looked at how many sections they took (by walking around them) then I just used my imagination to how they would look like in 3D.

Well when I made these they were just for the heck of it to be honest. x3 But recently I found a program that allowed me to upload SketchUp models (like these) into Second Life. So perhaps I will make them available there or something. But I AM NOT promising anything though, because personal space in Second Life isn't free.

Nope, I don't believe so. I've been using SketchUp for at least 3 years. I was 15 when I started using it, and never had to go trough any age verification sections.

You can just download it on their site, without having to give any personal information. To upload on the 3D warehouse however, you will have to register for a Google account, but as far as I know, that's for all ages.

Who said you needed to be 18+ to use it anyway?.. /:3
