  • beautiful, my friend is letting me borrow her tenner recorder.

  • Obsolutely beautiful!!!!! from all the youtube player you did the best job on it...the most i enjoyed to see how you play it with your soul....how do you hold your breath so solid? i always struggle with it...

  • Hi - absolutely lovely - may I ask what make/model this recorder is? :)

  • I got a tenor recorder for Christmas. I might have to purchase the music for this piece. It sounds lovely on the tenor recorder.

  • heyyy thats rreeaalyyy goodd!! pls can yu send me the notes b'cos ive been looking for it everywhere!!! the notes as in a b c you kno :)

  • That was beautiful!! I just now picked up a recorder from the local music store (after checking to see that they don't let everyone blow on them!), a soprano. After I learn a few songs, I may look at adding a tenor to my little collection...Man, I haven't seen these since kindergarden!

  • Se imparassi questo strumento vorrei suonare come te.

    sublime

  • This is a fantastic rendition! Love your tone- it sounds great. When people play the recorder well it is the most beautiful instrument.

  • *LOVE*

  • OMG! Beautiful! Bravo!

  • lovely song

  • i have the same but yours is to huge

  • This is inspiring. I am a guitar player but i have also bought an alto yamaha plastic recorder after i heard this piece. Thank you for your post.

  • is that room reverb, or did you play into a verbed mic, or add it in editing?

  • Great performance, thanks.

  • You are faking that!!! I have a tenor myself and the tenor sounds nothing like that.

  • Beautiful

  • Kick Ass, dude! I totally wanna grab my d20 and run off into the forest in a renasance princess dress and matching

  • Seven people aren't feeling the recorder love...

  • Greensleeves is my favorite song. Thank you for a most beautiful rendition that I have heard in a long time. I just love it!! Wonderful playing. It uplifted me. Thank You,Thank You,Thank You.

  • no one is giving the great acoustic room he's in. great recording too. .....okay. he's technically perfect as well. nice production.

  • Very good !!!!.

  • Fantastic! Great tone! How do you achieve that? Is this titanic effort and experience?

  • Very good vibrato control!

  • That was really good! Tone was good too, people tend to go sharp or flat , but this was just perfect XD

    What make is your recorder?

  • @infiniteFinality Thanks for the comment. Visited your channel and enjoyed your taste in favorites. Heard some nice stuff. My recorder is a Dolmetsch.

  • It sounds really deep. Have you edited the sound with any software? In either case the result was outstanding!

  • Thank you for sharing your gift. Could you please give any hints on how you learned your vibrato. It seems quite deep and well controlled. I can't seem to get it going at all and I'm sure there's a trick that I'm missing somewhere. Probably hard to explain, but even a point in the right direction will be appriciated ... (book? youtube vid? website?) Thanks.

  • I can't believe you can't read music!. This gives the rest of us hope that one day we could play as well as you.

By the way if anyone reads this you have got to listen to him playing Somewhere from West Side Story (on Youtube). the playnig and tone is incredible.

  • your my hero.

  • Hi, you did "Somewhere" from West Side Story, but you are too far away to see the finger placements (especially the high bits towards the end). Is there any chance of doing one with a closeup so we can copy what you do?

I can't be the only one who would appreciate it. Perhaps you could do other songs as a tutorial called "learn to play the recorder" with clear pictures of the notes you are playing. if you did you will end up with hundreds of online recorder students. regards, Paul

  • @paulenville

I'm not really a teacher, but I do want tol re-record this, so I will sometime and make it closer up. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @paulenville if you can read sheet music, look at pdvideosheetmusic 's channel , there is the song with sheet music and background music

  • Oh my word. That was very touching. I've been recently dabbling into recorders and I think tenor is just amazing. I love that mid-range, warm sound. You brought that sound out with such beauty and musicality that I nearly cried. Thank you for sharing this gift.

  • @StopTheMoti0n

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.

  • seven peoples are deaf. This is beutiful!

  • @maciejgru1

LOL! It took me a minute to know what you meant. I hadn't realized some people gave a thumbs down. Well, nothing's perfect. Thanks for your comment!

  • Can I ask, where did you get the music for this from?x

  • @TVCriticAmy

    I don't read music.

  • pleas pleas pleas add the altoooooooooooo recorder omgggggggggggg ad the alto recorder then let the soprano recorder come inslowly

  • @kylexwiel

Sounds like a good idea. Someday i will.

  • What a beautiful sound. Thank you.

  • Thank you! You make the world a better place!!

  • @oldgeek43

    thank you so much!

  • Sick dude. Sounds great, and I love how into it you get.

  • @TheEddyMetal

    Thanks!

  • I gave u 5 arrows up :)

hey i need tenor music- vivaldi or bach or mozart any suggestions?

  • Hi,

It was so moving I got out my old Tenor recorder when I heard you play. (the first time in 20 years)

However I can't read music. Do you know where I can find the finger placements to play this song (and others) as its only by seeing where to put the fingers I can play (and this takes a very long time to do especially with the thumb) which is hard to see, and then repeating the video over and over again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Paul

  • @paulenville

I don't read music either. I just experiment until i get it the way i like it.

  • So smooth, so lovely. Beautiful technique and expression. Thanks.

  • Nice style!

    Beautifull sound congratulations @cinderbutte!

  • You play great and you have a great instrument. Well done! I wonder if I will ever make my recorder sound like this... Or maybe mine is too poor to sound like this.

  • I really like your reendition as well, it's wonderful how you can hear the similarity to those Andean players as you have commented. :)

  • Lovely sound. I feel like my tenor recorder is an arthritis machine :(

  • Wonderful! Good instrument and playing,

  • wow thats impressive.really breathtaking <3

  • You have inspired me to buy a tenor recorder. I love it!!! Soooo beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

  • i loved it was so beautiful ( sorry about my spelling). i have just started playing recoarder and i think my next thing on my to bye list is tenor.

    thank you for uploading this.

and i also like your beard. thank you once again:).

  • that's beautiful! :D Please make more

  • What model of tenor recorder is this? It sounds heavenly!

  • how'd you get the notes for it?

  • Hauntingly beautiful. The Recorder is a very under-rated instrument which is a shame because when it is played like this, it is a lovely instrument.

  • extremely beautiful! transports you to another time.

  • Very, very beautiful! Keep playing the recorder!

  • I have a different fingering, my right hand is the one located on the top holes, I find it better for a home made accurate recorder. The lowest not of my recorder is C but I am able to reach B by my fingering.

  • i wish i could play like that T.T

  • That's beautiful.

  • great!

  • One word: beautiful <3

  • You have a good tone, which is more than I can say for myself, but perhaps you could try to cut back on the vibrato a tiny bit. Too much can often ruin the effect of the piece.

It's kind of like telling a joke. You tell it too many times in one go and it loses it's humour. Tell it at choice moments and you're sure to have a success. Choose the notes you really want that vibrato on and go for it.

    That's my two cents.

But it was still really great to listen to :)

  • Very well done. I hope I can play this well some day.

  • I like the baroque fingering. It's quite close to the saxophone fingering.

You have beautiful tone and vibrato. I haven't quite figured out how to get the vibrato yet.

  • @Frostybeard

I don't know what my fingering is. I learned witihout looking at charts or studying with a teacher. I never had anyone show me how to play. I just copied the Andean musicians who played their quenas in the Andes when I lived there. I transferred that style to the recorder, and learned the rest by ear.

thank you much for the compliment and instruction!

  • This tenor flute fingering baroque or German? can you tell the company that produces it? hope someone can answer me !!!!!

  • @ford1808 from the way he plays the f sharp, that's baroque fingering. Can't help you with the rest though.

  • You're first I have seen who play on tenor recorder so beautifuly! Thank you very much.

  • Фримен! На гвоздодере играет! Охуенно.

  • very nice enjoyed the tune, could you tell me where to get the tune as you have it , I play the recorder also ans listen to you play for inspiration as i have a long long way to go, but i enjoy it

  • Doyou have te notes ?please can i get the ''tabs''

  • wow, awesome man.... Keep it up! xD

  • That sounded amazing man for real, you truly have a gift with that tenor, I'm gonna post a video of me playing the same piece with a different recorder. Where can I get one, I live in a small town with no music stores. Please give me your input on my vid. Thanks man, and great job, I've loved that piece since I was a child.

  • Utterly fantastic, I've never heard a tenor recorder played so beautifully.

  • very very good

  • That was beautiful.

  • teh best!

  • i kinda wanna play the recorder again now lol, the plastic ones from elementary school were so shitty they sounded awful

  • @EB88 I'd say it's not the recorder itself. It's the way it's played. ;)

A great player can make the cheapest recorder in the world sound great. The problem with learning in primary school is that you have a class of 30 or more kids sitting on a wooden floor playing along with each other and there is no way that a teacher can help the individual. That's my memory of learning in primary school anyway. I had to teach myself, really. Things were too slow for me in primary school.

  • @EB88 ikr?...sadly thats the one i still have..

  • @EB88

It's in those times that I realize I would have liked to possess one when I knew how to play it

    :x

  • @EB88 lol i remember those plastic ones i broke mine on the first dont =p but yea there crappy i wanna try to play this song on a real one

  • i bought aulos tenor recorder awesome

  • hello i wanna buy a tenor recorder collins brand is it worth to buy? thanks

  • i would see you 6nd part....the notes are : Sol sol sol fa mi re re...etc....i think that you know it too

  • nice i like more scarbrough fair god bless england and his music

  • aaaahhhhh help for my crashed mind that is more than butiful

  • Thank you for the comment. I'm glad to know my playing strikes a chord!

  • @cinderbutte, lol no pun intended?

  • @cinderbutte ...no pun intended, right? Haha Very very well done, sir.

  • this is a recorder?!?!

  • @sakurabloom123 tenor recorder, salute from VGG, Argentina

  • that's beautiful

  • :D this is so relaxing

  • you play so beautifully. I am truly inspired to take up the recorder but think I'll have to start with the alto before I can tackle the tenor even though I think it has a much more beautiful sound

  • Magnificent. I think I prefer this over the soprano's sound. I shall definitely have to invest in the tenor.

  • The sound is outstanding, Personally I play alto recorder, but my sister plays Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Saprinino.

  • awesome

  • Very nice! Thanks!

  • Very lovely! I was thinking of picking up an instrument to play aside from piano and was thinking of either the flute or recorder.. This is the kind of sound I want! Is it because of the type of recorder you use that it sounds so sweet and mellow? The shorter recorders seem to sound shrill :(

  • i recommend you a low whistle its easy and verry close to the sound of this recorder

  • dude amazing!

    you won me -.-

  • Lovely.

  • maravillozo

  • no one has given you the right to play something so touchy.....can yuo fix my broken heart????

  • Lovely! One of my favorite songs played on my favorite size recorder. Love the mellow sound of the tenor recorder.

  • Who knew that Gordon Freeman played the recorder in his spare time...

  • Huh? Don't know who that is.

  • you look like a video game character.

  • Don't worry about it. Half Life stuff.

  • Don't worry, it's a compliment.

  • @cinderbutte Iconic video game hero from the Half Life series.

  • LOL!!!

  • @Kinetocracy LOL!!!! I nearly spewed out my tea when I read that!!

  • @Kinetocracy lol I kinda see the resemblance.

    @cinderbutte very nice recorder playing!

  • @Kinetocracy Half Life man, Half Life.

    But old post is old.

  • @Kinetocracy That's not a recorder! It's a pimped up version of his crowbar!

  • will you give me the code..

i cant see becouse your recorder is black..

    hehehe...

  • Beautiful! I aspire to play the recorder well someday.

  • tout simplement superbe

    well done man....simply beautiful

  • Wow... and to think, I've always thought of the recorder as that instrument that our music teacher had us all learn in 4th grade... I never knew a recorder could have that rich of a tone. Positively beautiful. :)

  • Recorder is an old instrument, but lost popularity as other wood wind instruments were invented.

  • Well, my eyes are certainly opened to the recorder. Never again will I picture a recorder as the cheap little plastic pipes we used in elementary school! :)

  • OMG Amazing!

  • Muy bein senor!!!!

  • That was most lovely and shows of the instrument off to it's best light. I think that you have inspired me to buy one for myself!

  • i have the medium size one, where did u get that one, love how it sounds good playing!

  • is that how a recorder really sounds? did u apply some sort of reverb effect?

  • There is some echo, but this is indeed how a good recorder sounds.

  • breathtaking

  • Incredible!

  • Beautifully played! kudos!!!

  • super. very nice sound.

  • i need the notes to this song, i have just a regular recorder from walmart and want to memorize it. i have the sheet music but forgot how to read it. i have the note sheet for how to play each note

  • If you want a GOOD recorder, get one made of WOOD. The plastic ones ain't worth spit. (Even the higher-end plastics aren't as good as the wooden.)

  • where can i find the notes, i want to play this and memorize it very badly, i have a key for the notes....just need the notes, thnaks for replying it!

  • Well that's a bit subjective. Modern plastic recorders are extremely good, especially ones from top manufacturers. I'd rather a Yamaha plastic tenor any day over any $300 GOOD WOOD recorder.

  • I much prefer wood myself, but I may be jaded by "recorders" that are sold for $1.99 (or whatever the price) at walmart. My niece has one; I am not teaching her on THAT.

  • it's hardly worth buying a wooden recorder if you have only just begun to play, MrInitialMan- the sound quality is not so different that a beginner will notice a difference.

  • Actually, I've been playing recorder for quite some time, so it does make a difference for me.

  • As I said in my comment - "IF YOU HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN TO PLAY" you're not going to notice the improvement of a wooden recorder, better to start out cheaper before you know if you're going to continue long enough to be worth investing in a better instrument.

  • Is a tenor recorder more difficult to get a pure sound from than a soprano? Your rendition of Greensleeves is haunting. Thank you for posting.

  • I find the tenor somewhat harder both for breath control and fingering (the holes are pretty spaced).

  • Where can a recorder like that be purchased? And about how much would it run?

  • I'm playing this on a soprano recorder

  • its wonderful :)

  • Is the recorder a wooden?

  • yes

  • WOW beautiful

  • Beautiful, your rlly good am so jealous.

  • Your tone rocks big time!

  • 1800? try a few 100 years earlier lol

    Tudor

  • I would imagine that thiis wonderful song was first played in the 1800's on an instrument very much like the recorder.

The tune seems made for this instrument!

    Thanks for posting!

  • It was written by Henry VIII, so you're talking early 1500's.

  • Actually scholars today disagree on that. But yes, so it's been said :)

  • Muito bom meu amigo. Very good my friend. Congratulations.

  • The most beautiful sound I've ever heard! =')

  • Lovely! Thank you =)

  • what is the flute lyrics of this i need it soooo badly

  • I love the christmas lyrics to greensleeves it is so beautiful

  • Last nite my friend played this song on her piano and it was so peaceful i like almost started to cry and im like never sensetive to stuff like that. And im not a band nerd so i dont usually listen to stuff like dis i listen to rap and pop so this is a big change for me to be listening too.

  • I'm about to buy one of these ^^

  • Thanks

  • Beautiful

  • Gorgeous

  • beautifl simply beautiful love it

  • I've been learning the tenor recorder, and I was wondering, how do you keep your right thumb in place on the open fingered notes?

I'm have a lot of trouble with the instrument sliding when I'm transitioning into the upper octave, and it's very fatiguing on that thumb. Is there some technique to doing it right?

  • you could attach a thumbrest.

  • he's good

  • this is great

i need to buy a tenor recorder!

  • Beautifull playing, having your videos on here have helped me persevere with my tenor recorder

  • who makes the recorder in this video? Yamaha?
