This rotation is minimised dps imho. First of all you need arcane brilliance and mage armour up at all times not molten armour. Then you get 4 stacks not 3 before you do arcane missiles/arcane barrage. You do that for 1.5 minutes before entering burn phase where you pop all cd's, except for evoc, and maximize 4x arcane blast. after 30 secs of burn you use evoc and repeat all. Of course this is the raid rotation and im not sure about pvp. Using this I was getting 25k crits at 80 easily.

for me, arcane is all about consuming and conserving, meaning I open with tons of arcane blasts, with a few missiles in between, until Im at 20% mana, then I evocate and use mana gem, and at this time, Im using mostly missiles to build up mana until the cooldown on evocation is over + fire orb and mirror image ofc. works for me

First off the rotation you have is wrong, secondly I know this one is dated so stuff probably has changed but from what I recall that was never the rotation to begin with anyway even when cata was first released. The Rotation should have always been Arcane Blast x4 and Arcane Missiles IF Procced if Not throw in Arcane Barrage and I have Never used Molten Armor only Ever used Mage Armor because of Mastery and I pull around 11-12k DPS on Average.

Wrong. You cast arcane blast until you have 4 stacks of the damage buff, then clear out your arcane missle procs while casting arcane barrage when it's not on cd until arcane missles stops to proc. Also, if the target is at low health, it is good to use fire blast as an instant cast if arcane barrage is on cd and you dont have time to wait for an ab cast. ( This helps with getting killing blows in pvp as well :P )

If there are 5 or more targets, blizzard is the way to go.

Ok here is a great opening macro for arcane mages. /cast Arcane Power, /cast (clicky spellpower trinket-I use JC trinket), /cast Volcanic Potion, /cast Mana Gem. When I open with this my spellpower has reached over 17k (with proc from Volcano Card) and have seen crits around 120k. Single target dps up to 45k then later in fight rounds out to around 20k. Using a mana gem from the start isn't a bad idea, I've never had issues.

Ya Mage armor should be on at all times, no exceptions. And it's ok to spam past 3 stacks, I'll sometimes go 8 times before clearing buff. You have plenty of tools for mana. The flame orb is great cause when you're low, cast it and the proc for missiles will come up almost every 4 secs. If you're lucky enough you can spam missiles back to back, keep in mind they're free of cost. Mage armor will restore alot of mana during that period.

Few remarks:

1) no points in improved counterspell? :s

2) Mage armor is best for arcane

3) it is almost impossible to run out of mana as arcane mage for 2 reasons (excpet if you keep spamming arcane blast): 1) mage armor, 2) arcane mage mastery (Mana adept)

my mage has 6.5k mana regen every 5 seconds and arcane missiles doesnt use mana so this skill gives you time for the mana regen.

4) arcane barrage is a DPS burst. you should use it as much as possible.

the arcane rotation isn't complicated all you do is SPAM arcane blast and then you could get about ( as a lvl 82 ) get 15k dps. Then when you get to bosses use all your cool downs at 4 stack.

I use an arcane mage for raids. I am constantly in the top three in DPS and most often have the top spot. My rotation is completely different than yours. Arcane power is a huge thing you didnt even touch on. I reforged out of haste and put everything is crit and my dps jumped a lot. I have gotten countless mages in my guild to respect their second tallent to arcane because I constantly do more damage than their fire spec. Just something to think about. I use nothing but mage armor.

@vioxdarkside stats are inflated at 80. It's no doubt you can do that, but hit 84-85 and watch your haste, crit, hit and others drop to nearly nothing.
