  • ich liebe diese Stimme!

  • The lines in English really get me, especially the beginning vocals.

  • This song is so amazing it gave me goosebumps..

  • Easily the best track on the album

  • I LOVE them, amazing song, amazing voice, amazing sound,... but...... wrong spanish. Still it's a GREAT album.

  • @Interbasser wrong spanish?

  • @sweetestcyn85 That spanish doesnt have so much sense

  • @Interbasser yeh, "al puro perder el ganar no compara" is not right, it's straight translation from english. Should be smthng like 'El puro perder no se puede comparar con el ganar' ., or 'es incomparable'. Anyway..

  • Paul Banks ♥ lovely spanish !

  • I become very aware of my heart beat when i listen to this song, is it just me ? lol

  • "Al puro perder, ganar no compara"

    It's nice to know Spanish.

  • This song sucks. no I'm kidding. not really a hater. This song his every nerve. it seduces my ears

  • great style.... great style.... and style is worthwhile.

  • @FuckingNoClue Hehe my favourate line of the song

  • @FuckingNoClue Shut the fuck up Dr. Seuss HAHAHA!

  • @ToConfused :^| ... :^) ... :^D

  • it's as if they've made some faustian deal to make every single song amazingly good

  • I have not heard a song yet by Interpol that I didn't like...

  • One of the greatest band ever and most particularly because of this song

  • I listen to this almost every night...

  • comments seem stacked. Comprende? PR job

  • One of their finest works. But i thought at first he said "I was chased through that alter" not "I was chased, thrilled and altered"

  • woooow mas que sorprendente!! It's very amazing

this song has a certain feeling that im very familiar with yet.. it eludes me, i can't place it..

    the song's genius.

  • Al fin me Paul canto en espanol.....<3

  • ME GUSTA

  • I've been listening to this song non stop since an hour ago <3

  • Amazing song :)

  • Interpol ftw

  • good thing i speak spanish

  • I really love this song. I just saw them on U2's 360 Tour on 7/14/11 in Phila. If you didn't see them on this tour, you should catch it before it ends. No words can't describe the amazement and the butterflies I had for several hours when the worlds of U2 and Interpol collide all in one sitting.

Oscuro, hermoso... uff!! Interpol se supera cada dia mas

  • listening to Paul singing in spanish makes me really happy.

  • I love this song, I think it's my favorite from their last album. It's hard to say for sure since I love all the songs.

  • he's referring to heaven and hell... and his own morality.. and the morality of us all... he's what he doesn't exactly agree with.. for instance when he says you always had great style refers to satan.. and please please the place we're in now he's referring to hell itself... simple but deep as shit

  • @ebolacereal wow, never seen his song this way, thanks man!

  • if you love interpol, you must listen to Motorama. try "Wife" and "Echoes" you'll love it. and "Budapest" too.

  • @kryptonite12 Thank you for letting me know about this band! I'm in love.

  • como rayos no va a tener idea de el español, yo creo que se refiere al sentido de la cancion, pero aun asi Paul vivio en México un tiempo así que yo creo que tan perdido no ha de andar pero no importa how cares about his pronunciation i love Paul it's such a great artist :3 <3

  • My fav song atm. The spanish only adds to the depth of the song. It is like a puzzle. Who gives a shit about pronunciantion, there are like 100 dialects of spanish. Most people from Mexico would barely understand someone from Spain. It is the impact of the words, if you are caught up in the pronunciation go watch telemundo or some shit.

  • this guys have no idea of spanish. their pronunciation is really bad, i understand better the esglish parts than the spanish ones and i,m from spain. not to mention that what they say have no sense in spanish

  • @newdawnfadesz - Im from Spain too and can understand perfectly that bit in Spanish, PLUS what they say makes perfect sense IF YOU LISTEN to the rest of the song.

  • i feel its talking about relationships and i feel that in this album its talking about relationships that are breaking >.< cause in the other albums the lyrics of some songs were a liitle more sweet... -__-

Deep song.

  • This song is so simple yet so deep.

  • i miss the bassline... i meant i miss CD

  • this is my favourite interpol song

  • im a spanish native speaker, and i can baerely understand what hes saying.

  • Makes me proud to know spanish

  • This song is so good I wish I could eat it.....

  • @mariacheetahmail it would probably taste like bitter heaven. (:

  • lucifer was on his was to tell god that his love for us was not good and he was chased thrilled and altered for it. he caused damaged.

he was used to loosing. lost to 'the undoing'. To loose the grace of God - win does not compare. lucifer thought god was great, he admired him but will survive anyway.

please please the place we're in now - he's in hell

    By cmlegnax , songmeanings. com

  • @Quidproquo127 That explanation is really great (i read it like.....last week barely lol). (:

But i read on the same site and page that this other person thought it was about relationships, and something about metaphors (sorry i can't explain it well, but i'm too lazy; you might come across it if you go back to that site) and i like it more. It makes much more sense. ^^

  • I lose

I lose myself in the undoing

Winning cannot compare with the purest loss

  • This is apparently a disappointing album... after listening to it over and over and reading comments adoring every song I don't see how this is so??

  • @purejoydivided Because some so-called "fans" have put them in a little box and won't be happy until they make 'Bright Lights Part 2', instead of just enjoying each album for what it is.

  • TI AMO PULCE.....V!!!!!dani

  • TI AMO PULCE...V!!!!!dani

  • Me suelto en el deshacer

Al puro perder el ganar no compara...

I let myself go in the undoing

In loosing alone winning does not compare..

  • paul singing in spanish <3

  • I'm very much looking forward to hearing and seeing this played live in a few weeks time. The best song off the Interpol album in my opinion.

  • SUELTEME

    ME SUELTO EN EL DESHACER

AL PURO PERDER PERDER EL GANAR LO COMPARA

  • that's even strange BUT those spanish parts make me wanna die. Love them

    amazing in a whole

  • The guitar almost sound out of tune in the first couple of minutes.

  • lol did you actually knew that paul banks and danial kessler were born in england?

and paul banks can speak spanish perfectly because he was studying in spain for his whole school years

  • this gives me chills

  • PULGAR ARRIBA

  • spanish is such a sexy language

  • @Bassguy5151 yes it is sir ;)

  • When the song drifts off in the end and pauls voice cuts off, you realize how much yo want pauls voice to continue. songs don't work without him, he gives the song that sensuality

  • @randomsummergirl offcourse the song works without pauls voice... the outro is amazing... i dont know what you are on about!

  • 44 thumbs up. Thank you guys.

all this time i've been.. "........Chasing my damage"

  • Easily Interpol's darkest song, and I love it

  • Suele tener

    Me suelto

    Me suelto en el deshacer

Al puro perder el ganar no compara

    Me suelto

    Interpol Yeah Yeah xD

  • lyrics pls

  • Swoon this song and entire album.

  • My heart sank into my gut.

  • Paul Banks is such an amazing man!

  • @Majiko90

erano al palasharp di Milano il 17 novembre. Gran bel concertone!!

  • This is my least favorite song on the new album

  • I actually understand Spanish quite well, but I don't want to attempt translating this. Anyone up for it?

    Mañana concierto, no puedo esperar........

  • Wow Your Music Is Just Out of This World

From now I'm a fan of yours thanks to a rocker girl*-*

    =)

    Thanks for the music

  • is this song about Carlos' departure?

  • @chuycero

    no

the album was finished when departed.

  • @chuycero

    no

he announced his departure after the album was finished

  • @chuycero

    no

he announced his departure after the album was finished

  • chasing my damage. // i was chased, thrilled and altered. // chasing my damage

  • Just a thing of beauty

  • best song on the album.

  • who do i gotta torture to find the one who dared dislike

  • INTERPOL I JUST CAN SAY! I LOVE U I LOVE U I LOVE U!!!

  • yeahhhhhhsssss that wos soo cooll really i tell what this band is wonderfuullll

  • well paul did study spanish, so its pretty cool hes not letting it go to waste

also he doesn't really have that much of an accent

  • The layering on this track is gorgeous: "alone, all alone," "please, please release me," and at the very end, "I will wait, oh I will wait." I mean, how much more beautiful can the end to an album about the death of a relationship be? Seriously. Interpol, FTW.

  • @rcgray007 It really is amazing. This album is underrated so badly that it makes me feel a little ill.

  • I love this song it's one of my favorites, the music is great oh and I love the spanish ;) there should be a song where daniel sings in french haha

  • I was losing faith in this band. Till i heard this song. Truly inspired..

  • I found this translation on the net:

    Suélteme - Release me

    Me suelto - I disengage

Me suelto en el deshacer - I disengage by destroying

Al puro perder el ganar no compara - the gain can not be compared to the pure loss

    Me suelto - I disengage

Me suelto en el deshacer - I disengage by destroying

    Sounds good to me.

  • What do the spanish lyrics translate to? I'm curious to know what he's saying.

  • @coconutman1987

    Something like this:

    Sometimes it has

    I let go

I let go in the undoing

To the pure loosing the winning doesnt compare

    I let go

I let go in the undoing

  • sobreviviréee chasing my damage!

  • beauty

He should do a song all in spanish.

  • paul!!!!!!! extremadamente... original.... me sueltoo!!!!!... me suelto en el deshacer....

  • I love Interpol... I really like the album and this song is very good... But the Spanish, broken translation... Awful.... Otherwise, the band is still AWESOME

  • Gracias Paul, chida cancion.

  • GORGEOUS. FLAWLESS album. Lights and Barricade make much better sense in context now! It all works. I love this band soooo much.

  • COOL SONG AND LYRICS, BUT I DONT LIKE THE KEYDOARD END

  • Beauty, in the form of sound

  • I Was Chased thrilled and altered. :)

  • my bad. hehe

  • It sounds like he's saying "suelteme". It means let me go or let go of me...

Anyway, the song sounds dark and suicidal.HA! Love it.

btw I dont trust official lyrics

  • All my happiness and sadness, all at once. I am just pleased that there are people in this world who can make music like this.

  • This song captures a pivotal point of a relationship and all the different emotion with it..It is musically lyrically so moving..and I always love those distinctly mesmerizing vocals.

  • snowcone, snowcone, snowcone

  • @MrFatmaninbearsuit lololol XD

  • I need to give this a rest. It's been on repeat in my brain for days.

  • nice song......

  • love hearing paul sing in spanish!!

  • maaan paul banks speaking spanish is fucking hot!.. im glad he finally put some lyrics in spanish

  • @lipppsticktraces

But his accent is horrible!, What happened to his fluent Spanish when he was interviewed at the beginning of interpol?

  • @fmejor88 idk man but its not that bad , Its good and remember: Paul banks voice has changed over the years. He isnt the young skinny guy with an amateur voice anymore :)

  • That "great sytle" part really makes me think Paul wrote this song with either Carlos or Helena in mind.

  • @casadebarcenas helena ;) Lol u can smell love from this song

  • FAV SONG OFF ALBUM! THE WHOLE ALBUMS GENIUS THOUGH.LOVE INTERPOL!

  • paul is fluent in spanish , he spent time there when younger

  • cool combination english-spanish!

    yeah

  • Guys, what is Paul murmering in the background in the beginning and onwards.. It sounds like he is saying "It's so cold" and repeating it.. It starts at 0:35 when he first says "Casing My Damage".

And does anyone have an idea of what the song is about. I'm so curious to know what Paul is talking about in this song. The most accurate I've heard so far is that the song is about Lucifer. That he was on his way to tell God that his love for us not good and he was "Chased Thrilled And Altered" Cont*

  • @dfjnjfn *Continued:

That Lucifer was "Chased Thrilled And Altered". He was used to losing. Lost to the "Undoing". He cannot undo his mistakes now that he forever in hell. Lucifer thought God "Had Great Style". "Please, Please The Place We're In Now". Lucifer is in hell. god is in heave, they are seperated. He is a Fallen Angel. Now known as Satan. I mean, what song could be more beautiful then one about God and Satan. Soz if this all sounds extreme, but this song is awesome and I *Continued:

  • @dfjnjfn *Continued: And I need to know it's meaning.. I didn't come up with this theory myself of the song meaning. Someone made the comment on song meanings.net and it sounds quite accurate. These guys are like my one of my favourite bands, if not, my favourite, and I'm interested to know what their songs are about and what they mean. It's not to cause arguments, so no one start all that youtube non sense. This is just something for the TRUE fans to think about. Peace.

  • @dfjnjfn lol....did u ask the singer about this? maybe ur totally wrong? it's okay to have ur opinion tho.

  • @bballerguy0812 Hi.

If you read my comments properly, I actually state that it's not a theory that I came up with myself. I clearly stated that the interpretation and meaning of the song was from someone else. I said that their theory seemed to have made sense and seemed the most accurate I have heard so far and was just giving us fans something to think about. Read it again my friend.

  • @dfjnjfn lol.....arlight buddy....

  • @dfjnjfn ahh its music man, Just listen to it and enjoy it , dont be a smartass ( no offense) just... LISTEN TO THIS MASTERPIECE !!

  • @KxK96 lol I was waiting for a comment like this. Dur, of course I enjoy the music, i'm in awe of it. I'm allowed to say what I said, nothing at all wrong with it. What makes it an issue and a situation is when you reply in the way you did, for no reason. What's wrong with wanting to know the meaning of a song you love by your favourite band? Absolutely nothing! If you're not in favour of my comment, then just ignore it, no need to reply. For the record, no one was trying to be a smartass.

  • @dfjnjfn hehe ofc you can say anything you want, i got no problem with it, dont get all upset dude , it was just a friendly comment :P. Its just i dont care for the meaning of songs, I like to sit on my bed and enjoy them, thats all :)

Listen to Interpol is the only thing i can do without using my brain n being a smartass lol.

    Have a nice day.

  • @KxK96 Again, no one was being a "smartass". It was for the people who do care about the meaning. It's a deep song. It was just general chit chat. If you're not into song interpretations, then simply, you didn't have to make any reply.. For the record, I usually dont care too much about the meanings, but this song for me was different, so it's actually the first time I mentioned anything like this on youtube. Give me a break. The lyrics are deep. Wanted to know what others thought, simple.

  • damn i remember when this had like 130 views ha. yeah this has definitely become one of my favorites off the album.

  • Suele tener

    Me suelto

    Me suelto en el deshacer

Al puro perder el ganar no compara

    Me suelto

    Me suelto en el deshacer

I always thought you had great style, great style

    And style was worthwhile

Because I was, I was on my way

Sobrevivir........... WTF paul YOUR A GOD! <3

  • Kind of strange that with his amazing accent, the spanish phrases sound, well, pretty bad...! hehehe... Still.... great outro for the album...!

    ....and style was worthwhile........

    uuffffff...

  • I just personally feel that this song is on a higher level than any of the other songs on the album, muscially, instrumentally and emotionally.

  • If the chord progression in the last 3 minutes of the song went on for another 45 minutes with slight variations isntead of fading out I'd just listen to this song all the way through whenever i put this album in and ignore the other songs altogether

  • wtf i was just on my bed with eyes closed and eaating ice cream while listening to this song and i realized it has some parts in spanish XD lololol thats great, I hope they do more songs like this with spanish parts ;).

My fav. songs of this album :

Succes, Memory serves, summer well, Barricade , Try it on and The undoing :D

btw is it me or All of the Ways sound like The Lighthouse :/

  • @KxK96 That's because Daniel uses a similar guitar tone/technique, but IMO the songs are very different so it doesn't bother me. I really like his guitar sounds on Lighthouse and AotW too :)

  • @KxK96 yes it´s total Lighthouse, that´s what i thought first time i heard it

  • @KxK96 Oh god I like the exact same songs on this album !

  • @IndieRockOwns lolol thats good :D !

  • @KxK96 icecream :) hmmm
