I like light contact sparring as a way to improve defense and ofense technique without taxing muscles and joints excessively, but they should seek to make light contact with their fists (on the face and body) just the same as they are making contact with their legs. Also, their kicks to the head should land on the head. Their throwing wild punches around that don't land anywhere doesn't improve their fighting skills in the least, so why even bother?
