The experience of this 'nominal' muslimah is awful to hear but there is the Islam that people conjure in their own minds and the Islam which Muhammed(saw) gave to us. For a nominally islamic woman this experience would be disconcerting but it shows her weakness to think that the person who did that to her solely owned Islam and she had no stock by it. This is like a politician who flinches at the first sign that his ppolicy is proved wrong. Nominal muslims need not apply.
@TheComingHour Your point makes no sense because Allah SWT states that if the Prophet PBUH wasn't a gentle soul people would not have followed him. The reality is that Islam is about good Adab (characteristics/manners) with Allah and his creation (i.e people). Its always easy to judge other peoples reactions rather than examine ones self. Whatever ones opinion might be, they must always adhere to good adab or be silent.

('bakhtn' ) thats a very tenuous shot. Most islamic lectures are free, and most islamic publications are free to reproduce. You will find most pastors and priests in the west live a materialistic life and expect more than a lifetimes amount of salary. Many muslims live a frugal existence, and would be fools not to accept donations for their work. Everything has a cost these days my friend, its simply the world we live. ITS What you do with the money, thats the most important thing, thats islam
@AsianTyson Ibn Wahab was declared a heretic by the scholars of Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama'ah during his time. He wasn't even a student of knowledge let alone a sheikh. His own brother who was one of the most famous and respected Qadi at the time and even wrote fataws against him and told people not to follow him. You need to do some research on who you think are great scholars. The man might have had good intensions but he had no knowledge hence his ludicrous rhetoric.
Very true, the prophet said I was send to be moderate in all things. Allah also said Islam is send to make life lighter/easeir for you and not complicated.
I can't say tht I don't feel the same way. But then again people who dedicated their lives to teach Islam should be able to earn a living. Shaikh Abdal Hakim has a source of income other than what comes from selling the lectures but think about the other teachers. If Hamza Yusuf, for instance, had to do a 9 - 5 job to earn a living, how he wud be able to do what he's doing now for the ummah. And thanks Allah there are people like tht who sacrifice the comfort of a 'regular' life to teach us.
"MeccaCentric Da'wah Group is an organization that was established in 1996 for the purpose of educating Muslims and non-Muslims about the true teachings of Islam. Our primary means of accomplishing this goal is by producing and distributing high quality lectures by some of the most prominent Muslim speakers in America today."
@bakhtn you see the source of income of the people doing all the video editing and stuff to make these lectures be of good quality have only this one thing as their source of income. Thus it is important that they be compensated for it.
@bakhtn Subhan' Allah, I wish you understood the costs we've incurred to produce these lectures and realized that we are doing this full-time. Then maybe you'd purchase yourself and encourage others to purchase in order to support this effort.
salaam a new DVD on Imam Ghazali's Ihya by Abdal Hakim Murad is out, i ahve uploaded the trailer please check it out! its to raise funds for the Cambridge Mosque project.
Salam. Islam is no doubt simple and straight forward religion... so is the Quran. but only for zikr, akhlaq and guidance.. when it comes to technical stuff (such as deducing islamic law, providing the muslim ummah with direction for their future) you need the best of ppl who have spent their lives studying. in islamic history we have had ppl like the 4 imams, imam bukhari. they were technical people. theres different levels of iman and din. the ulema are the prophet's inheritors.
What you class as a 'mistake' could simply be an alternative way towards the same end for someone else.
Perhaps different methods and approaches are MEANT to exist, and are a sign of God's infinite mercy on His creation, that He recognises our innate differences and dispositions and provides the scope for difference and conflict accordingly.
Jarîr relates that the Prophet pbuh said: Whoever initiates a good practice (sunnah hasanah) in Islam and is emulated by others in doing so will get the reward of it and the reward of all those who act upon it without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And whosoever initiates an evil practice (sunnah sayyiah) in Islam and is emulated by others will bear the sin of it and the sin of all those who act on it without their burden being diminished in the least. [Sahîh Muslim: (1017)]
I mean the men who swore that they would never get married, they will never sleep at night and that they will fast, they might have had good intentions but the Prophet pbuh was not happy because they were trying to do things which he did not always do i.e the Prophet pbuh did not always fast, he was not celibate etc.
I would like to ask mrdhikrbeads about this so called good bidah and where is the evidence for it.Did not Allah say that the deen has been perfected, so how can we introduce new ideas even if we have good intentions. I mean why cant we try to follow that which the sahaba followed and the the salaf.
very true the Koran has many different interpretations from the liberal to the moderate to the conservative to the extremist, when it comes to Islamic law go to the Koran first it's straight forward, when you go to the Hadith don't equate it with the Koran and you should analyze it and look at the context, the Koran is from God, the Hadith was compiled by man so you have to seperate true Hadith from false Hadith, many self-righteous Muslims think their interpretation is the only one.
Even if it was a bidaa', you should correct someone with hikmah and baseerat. You should pray for that person , what you don't do is go and snatch the tasbeeh and break it . . . the lady's reaction is understandable and this just shows how bad our ikhlaaq is today.
Something like that happened to me but I just realized that the person who corrected me harshly had good intentions so I forgave their rudeness. Maybe she will think of that next time with how she corrects someone.
I encourage all my fellow non-Muslims to leave the darkness and come into the light by accepting Islam. Islam is a peaceful blessing and it is a way of life. May Allah guide us all to the truth and the right path. I accordingly invite you to Islam and see what this beautiful religion has to offer; -WhatsIslam*com -TurnToIslam*com -ShareIslam*com -IslamCode*com -SearchForIslam*com -ImranHosein*org -Search Zakir Naik & Yusuf Estes Copy & paste this message to expose the truth.
Calling them Wahhabis implies that they learned ideas from a man -- Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab -- instead of the Qur'an and Sunnah -- the two great sources of Islam. Irrespective of what they think, they are not following the Islamic sources authentically, but the wrong interpretations of the founder of the Wahhabi movement who appeared in the 1700s. Sunnis and other Wahhabi detractors have labeled them as Wahhabis to differentiate them from orthodox Sunnis.
In some people believe that it is bidah due to the fact that the Catholic Church and many other faiths use things like tasbeeh but the Prophet (SAW) never used a tasbeeh, he used his fingers.
Yes but this is not a criticism of puritan Islam, its not a criticism of Islamic Orthodoxy, its a criticism of that individual and its should be a reminder that being orthodox means becoming a better Muslim- not alienating others through extremism.
i so agree. your views are your views...should never ever be tossed on anyone else unless invited. we will find common ground becuase we are all one. peace to you all.
the guy that did that was such an idiot. i really don't like people like that, what kind of understanding of islam do you really got if you think that kind of think is ok.
Puritans he means are Salafis, and I don't think that a knowledgable Salafi does that, only those who just started practicing and are too excited do such ignorant acts that repel people!!! But your Sufi scholars are much much worse for claimants of knowledge!!! I know endless stories!
So driving a car is bidah. And as the Taliban said, watermelon is haram because its not mentioned in quran or sunnah. Neither is kite-flying. And your wife can't drive, but she can be driven around by a non-mahram man. Women werent driving in the Prophet's time. (Men werent either but then again in Saudi we place patriarchy before religion.) *sarcasm*
I was replying to abuwaleed123 in my last comment by the way. I also want to say to him:
You are missing the point Abu Waleed. This man did not correct the perceived bidah with hikma(wisdom). Remember the prayer, "Oh Allah do not make us an obstacle (tribulation) to people accepting Islam.
Sister,it is unfortunate that people do not know the meaning of bida'h. Bida'h means innovation in RELIGIOUS MATTERS and thats it. The women are not driving in Saudi for different reasons. It is really a problem that people do not know what bida'h means. I heard Al Qaida is threatening to shoot people (with weapons that were not around at the time of Rasul Allah SAWS mind you) for making falafal since it was not around during the time of Muhammad SAWS.
Making Falafel is not Bida'h and driving cars is not bida'h. making Tawwaf around a tree or a grave or something other then the Kaa'ba is Bida'h. Changing the methods of prayer is Bida'h. Adding something to RELIGIOUS MATTERS is BIDA'H.
abuwaleed: Im just saying that obviously this puritan had no hikma. If he did, he would have approached her in a gentler way. I doubt his harsh way of correcting her made her understand bidah any better. As he says, she swore not to learn anything about Islam. *How* we correct others is as important as correcting others, if not more.
And how *should* we correct others? Subhanallah look at the companions' example. They saw a man making wudu improperly. They decided to approach him, make wudu in front of him, and ask *him* to be the judge of who performed it correctly. When the man saw that their wudu was identical, he realized his own mistake on his own. THAT is hikma, and that is respecting someone's pride.
I totally agree with you that the muslim mentioned had no kikma, I was only commenting on your misunderstanding of bida'h. MANY muslims be it salafi or otherwise have problems with hikma. This guy is not right in saying "puritan muslims" because everyone has a problem with judging others harshly.
"Taliban said, watermelon is haram because its not mentioned in quran or sunnah."
y do u have to LIE about the taleban? i mean u could have said something that the media has taught u abt them, but LYING, and such stupid lies that nobody's gonna believe u? WHY?
Excuse me, its a documented fact Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (the founder of the Hanbali legal school) refused to eat Watermelon because there was no evidence to prove that Muhammad ate it.
firstly is ahmad bin hanbal a taliban? secondly can you please give me some reference to that? and thirdly even if he did refuse to eat it, did he forbid others to eat it as well?
Look at the legal school - it is the most puritan/fundamentalist of all the legal schools. Regarding the reference, Islam: Past, Present and Future by Hans Kung.
who is hans kung? i want some reference from ahmad bin hambal's writings or fatwas, or from some Islamic sources. and please give me a link to it as well. please provide me proof that ahmad bin hanbal AND the taleban both forbade people from eating watermelons. you sound crazy otherwise.
Geeze, another fucking muslim idiot who doesn't read books. Is this just a Muslim thing, being completely fucking ignorant to the idea of actually reading books outside of religious scriptures. No wonder the fucking islamic culture is stuck in the 7 th century with pig shit ignorant comments such as yours.
so thats your answer then? i guess all you can do is swear when you dont have any answer. when you talk about Islamic matters, you have to give references from Islamic sources, i dont care what the fuck ur hans kung or tom chung writes. and next time read the conversation b4 jumping into it. sum1 claimed that the taleban forbade ppl from eating watermelons, which was incorrect. now either give proof of that or just shut up moron.
Doesn't this sort of contradict the basic tenet of most if not all religions, that is to bring unity and oneness amongst all of us? Look above for my example regarding swami vikananda's comments regarding this matter. Thanks
Why didn't the first part of my comment show up? Anyways my question is related to the idea that muslims must confess/accept that "there's no god but allah"? am I taking this out of context? If you allow that religions
For example in if you listen to vivekananda (hindu scholar and sage), speak about Hinduism, he will explain to you that Hinduism does not denounce any religion, it infact embraces all religions. Explain this from the Islamic perspective. Thank you
qfqquf Sorry ur alienated from Islam. We should base our character on Islamic teachings. Indeed the Prophet (SAW) bears the exalted standard of character.
Being UK doesn't make u Kafir, this makes u British. God chose this; to label u a Kafir 'cause of race is against God's will. Muslims are not limited 2 race.
We're trying 2 stop the hate, but it's hard for angry people 2 listen. U don't c these Muslims, because it's not media friendly. U see them if ur in the community.
Again, you don't see Muslims condemning death (ie terrorism) because the media gives so little coverage to it. You even admitted it yourself... "i no there probly lookin at everything threw blinkerd eyes". The challenge for you is to get to know a good Muslim family in your neighborhood. This shouldn't be too difficult in the UK, where there are 6 million plus. A good Muslim family will shatter all your stereotypes and pre-conceived notions. You'd be surprised!
Hatred is not common in Islam. But hatred may be common among Muslims. This is a challenge: Seperating Muslims from Islam. If a Muslim commits a crime it does NOT mean that Islam condones it.
Kafir means one who hides the truth. I don't know you so I can't accuse you of that. Often it's the narrow-minded extremists who put these labels on people.
Jesus is not wrong. We just disagree on exactly what he taught.
Marrying a young girl was completely normal & accepted in 7th Century Arabia.
if you pray to jesus you r wrong. you should listen to the one you say you worship. Religion based on men is wrong? jesus was a man , not god. when jesus was asked how should we pray...he said to "our heavnlly father"..he didnt say oh pray to me jesus.
And where do you see all this evil and death?... Television and media, which is biased, often one-sided and generally uninformed. You don't see the good that Muslims do because it doesn't command the headlines.
You said "your people hate us". Which people are you talking about? Osama, Sadam, etc. are not my people. These people are so far from Islam that it's a joke! The VAST MAJORITY of Muslims don't hate the West. The are 8 million Muslims in America and probably 15 million in Europe.
Cavemen! Are you kidding me? Muslim cities were flourishing when Europe was in the Dark Ages! Spain, Baghdad, etc. The Muslim contributions to science, technology, medicine, agriculture, etc. are far too many to list on a single webpage, much less 500 characters of text. Cavemen!! LOL. Any sincere unbiased seeker of TRUTH should look at the website 1001inventions dot com. Don't let the terrorists and extremists blind you!
I was alienated by Islam when people flew planes into buildings chanting, "Allahu Ackbar." I was alienated by Islam when Muslims cut off Danny Pearl's head chanting "Allahu Ackbar," all captured on videotape.
Correction: You were alienated FROM Islam BY Muslims. There's a difference. You weren't alienated BY Islam because Islam does NOT tell these people to do the crazy things they did. Terrorists are motivated by politics & nationalism & it's all fueled by hatred & ignorance. And they do this using religion as an excuse! What a tragedy that people like you are repelled from such a beautiful way of life. I converted to Islam because I was able to see through all that and get to the TRUTH, thank God!
"Islam does NOT tell these people to do the crazy things they did. Terrorists are motivated by politics & nationalism & it's all fueled by hatred & ignorance. And they do this using religion as an excuse"
what makes u think muslims did 9/11? theres no proof, only accusations, so dont re-inforce misperceptions. all evidence points to an INSIDE JOB.
watch any independent documentary on 9/11 and you will find plenty of evidence for it. are you also propagating the myth that 19 arabs carried out the biggest attack on american soil? and if u do, i would like to ask you what evidence you have for that crazy theory?
There are many documentaries about conspiracy theories regarding JFK, UFOs, Illuminati, Bugs Bunny! Because you see it on TV doesn't make it true. I subscribe to the idea of the most plausible explanation. Neither of us have any direct evidence to prove our claims. But whats more likely? A far-reaching web of conspiracy & cover-up by the U.S. gov't, Jews & others? Or a bunch of misguided extremists carrying out their so-called "jihad"? Are you saying it's impossible "muslim" extremists did this?
it is impossible because steel doesnt melt at fuel-burning temp. steel buildings have never come down cos of fire. what happened to wtc building 7? its owner claimed they "brought it down", how can sum1 do that unless they had prepared for it weeks ago. how did bbc report destruction of building 7 20 mins b4 it happened? where did the plane that supposedly crashed into the pentagon disappear off to? why dont we have any video of the plane crashing?
I'll accept the "steel not melting" postulation but you're forgetting about the damage caused to the structure by the jumbo jet's impact at 100+ mph which weakened one (if not two) sides of the building & contributed to its collapse. There are documentaries about this FACT as well. BBC? The media can get details wrong esp. on live TV during frantic "doomsday-like" events. Pentagon plane? The camera recorded a frame every 2 seconds. So happens the plane crashed during the 59 frames not recorded.
lol r u a representative of the bush admin or what? cos u sound exactly as stupid. buildings dont come falling down in such erfect manner by fires or jet-crashes. when bbc reports that building 7 has been demolished 20 mins b4 the event and u can see the building still standing in the background there is something fishy. add to that the fact that the jewish owner of the building said in an interview that he decided to "bring it down". which means he had it prepared weeks ago.
and your stupid theory about 59 frames not being recorded(where did u come up with that from?) also is laughable. this is the pentagon, the most secure area in the world wiht prolly dozens of cameras at each location. but lets say theres only 1 camera, it shows a ball of fire but it doesnt show the plane at all, no tail no body. and then we are supposed to believe that a wide plane leaves a small hole in the building without leaving any wreckag at all. the whole plane disappears somehow.
im sorry but you can believe an administration which tells you that the fire in wtcdestroyed the blackboxes of the planes but somehow the passports of the hijackers survived it. you can continue to spread lies about Muslims and spread the same propaganda of the bush admin but please take off this fake cloak of righteousness that you are wearing then if your hatred for our Muslim brothers is so deep that you will accuse them of things they have denied.
its very obvious who did it, but if you want to close your eyes and continue to blame Muslims for it, just like you are told day and night on the media, then go ahead. you will find out on the Day of Resurrection the consequences of accusing your Muslim brothers of things which they didnt do without evidence and based on accusations of ppl which have been proven to be liars(WMDs?), just cos its "more likely" according to u. i hope Allah holds you accountable for it.
Let me re-phrase my extremist question... Are you saying that there are no terrorists in the world who are Muslim, who are willing to do what was done on 9/11?
i dont know whos willing to do what mate. the point is that YOU are accusing your Muslim brothers for acts that you have no proof that they have done and those accusations come from the kuffar who have been proven to be lying, which you gladly acceot because they are "more likely". i just pray that Allah holds you responsible for this slander on believers on the Day of resurrection.
im not dodging anything. maybe there are, maybe there are not. i hear abt it all the time on western(jewish-owned) media, but im not going to accuse my Muslim brothers based on hearsay coming from the enemies of Islam. you choose to slander Muslims, and that too using the accusations of the kuffar against them, and you are very happy doing that. all i can say is may Allah guide you.
Open your eyes brother and accept the reality that we have extremism in our ranks. We don't need the media to tell us that. Any participation in a rather large Muslim community will reveal this fact. Although these extremists usually are a tiny minority, their sick twisted views of non-Muslims need to be addressed and corrected. They may not be willing to engage in terrorism, but many of them agree with the "al-Qaeda" worldview and this is a big problem. (continued)
As far as me accusing my Muslim brothers... I'm not blaming those "19" hijackers - I have no idea who they are. I'm blaming extremists/terrorists who claim to be Muslim whoever they are. I'm basing this on the geo-political situation of Muslims today & the motivation it fuels. I guess you'd have us believe that all the suicide bombings in Iraq & Afghanistan today, along with all the terrorist attacks leading up to 9/11, were orchestrated by the kufar also? We have problems let's stop denying it!
ofcourse you are blaming Muslims for it. you said that you believe that Muslims carried out 9/11 because "it is more likely". now thats a slander against a Muslim without ANY proof, which is a big sin. secondly attacks on soldiers in iraq and afghanistan are an entirely legitimate form of self-defense, dont call it terrorism. have u ever heard of the incident when a few british soldiers were caught planting bombs in basra, i wudnt be surprised if they r behind most terrorist incidents.
Slander is a sin whether its against Muslims or non-Muslims. You blame crazy Jews & I blame crazy Muslims. So are you slandering Jews? No, because you're not naming names just like I'm not naming names. But we have our opinions based on what we see in the world & we're BOTH entitled to them. Otherwise we can bury our heads in the sand & deny the diseases plaguing our world. One such disease is religious extremism among Muslims in the form of terrorism which you REFUSE to acknowledge. (continued)
Regarding Iraq I never said anything about attacks on soldiers. The suicide bombings I refer to are those attacks against non-combatant civilians which is HARAAM even in war. Do you disagree with that? And because a few British or US soldiers are planting bombs doesn't mean they all are. You're commiting the same egregious crime that many non-Muslims commit: judging an entire group of people based on the actions of a few. You continue to deny that there are terrorists who call themselves Muslim.
im not judging a group of ppl based on the actions of a few. this is different, no soldier will plant a bomb unless he is ordered to do so, otherwise y wud they go around planting bombs when they can just shoot women & children(which they habitually do). it just shows you the mind of the crusaders, they cant win so they spread death and chaos, so they can stay there longer, blaming Muslims for the violence instead of the real cause:occupation. sadly ppl like u keep parroting the same propaganda.
"the crusaders [are] blaming Muslims for the violence"...
Again, you refuse to accept that there are terrorists who call themselves Muslim. I'm not denying that there may be incidents of murder and terrorism committed by U.S. and British soldiers. But essentially you're saying that's where all the violence is coming from. So I will ask the question AGAIN... Are you saying that there are no terrorists in the world who are Muslim?
listen im not going to argue with you any longer. i havent heard you once condemning America or Nato for invading and occupying Muslim lands, carpet-bombing their villages, killing innocent women and children, torturing and raping them in secret prisons etc. the closest u come to it is "there MAY be incidents of murder and terrorism committed by U.S. and British soldiers". you only want to focus on the reaction of Muslims to these crimes. goto hell with the ones u love. im done with u.
You just told your fellow Muslim brother to "go to Hell". Prophet Muhammad (P), our example, never said that even to a non-Muslim! He was insulted to his face, stoned by the children of Taif, abused by his neighbor yet he smiled and forgave them! Because we have different perspectives and disagree doesn't entitle you to condemn me. Let's agree to disagree & respect each other. When you do other than this you are violating the Sunnah and direct commands of Allah, as is proven below...
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas says that by nature the Holy Prophet (P) neither talked indecently nor did he listen to indecent talk. He used to say: "The best of you are those who have the best manners." (Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'Aas & recorded by Bukhari & Muslim)
"And the servants of Allah Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility & when the ignorant address them they say peace!" (Qur'an 25:63)
You defend Islam with such vigor, yet you don't practice it. Peace be upon you.
maybe i was a bit rude, i apologize. but b4 preaching to others, i wish u had read some ahadith or quranic verses on the consequences of accusing ur Muslim brothers of crimes without ANY proof other than accusations of the enemies of Islam. if u feel u sinned by doing so, then repent to Allah, otherwise i have no desire to argue with u any longer. bye.
I accept your apology. I guess we'll have to accept that we see things differently. Each of us made our points and we'll leave it at that. I have no ill feeling in my heart towards you. I hope you feel the same about me. May Allah guide us all.
wht abt religious extremists in christianity hinduism judaism? y dont u talk abt tht & pour ur heart out over tht. hindus in indian gujrat massacred more than a 1000 innocent Muslims, they destroyed the Babri masjid. jewish terrorists kill innocent Palestinian civilians and destroy their homes everyday. christian extremists incharge of the white house have killed more ppl than any1 else ever can. do we see a war against that extremism? no u will only talk abt Muslims and blame everything on them
Subanallah, I think things are getting out of hand here. You're putting words in my mouth. Why do you say that I'm "blaming everything on Muslims"? You're preaching to the choir when you invoke religious extremism by other groups. I do talk about these things on many other blogs on my channel. I produce videos by speakers that talk about these very facts. But this is not relevant to our discussion because I never denied it. You reached that conclusion because "I don't talk about it"! (contined)
So to make it clear, yes there are terrorists among Hindus, Jews and Christians -- that's obvious. But you won't admit the obvious fact that there are extremists and terrorists that call themselves Muslim. So far in our conversation, you have yet to admit it. Re-read and see for yourself.
I don't have a problem with any of those BUT you're being selective with your list of objectives & don't address the means they support in carrying out those objectives such as suicide attacks, the killing of non-combatants & the killing of Muslims! There are criminals among Muslims but you seem to think that anyone who calls themself Muslim is exempt. The more you continue with this reasoning the more Allah will hold you to account for supporting these criminals. I pray Allah forgives you.
" the killing of non-combatants & the killing of Muslims! There are criminals among Muslims but you seem to think that anyone who calls themself Muslim is exempt."
your statement is a contradiction in itself but proves my point. THERE ARE CRIMINALS AMONG MUSLIMS. anyone who supports the foreign occupiers of Muslim lands is a traitor and a criminal, so i dont mind if they kill police or army which works under kuffar occupiers. and i DO NOT support killing of non-combatants, that is HARAM!
That is true. One can not force to convert another one. Your example of behavior is the main thing. If you are good, others will raise interest in you, if not they will just ignore you. Still. every religion and culture has its good people and bad people. Depending on situation everybody can be both of them. That is why we pray and remember Allah.
He is right, to many brothers and sisters are too self righteous, and many brother aren't even alim and making fatwa from both side (salafi and sufi).
Sh. Usman Dan fodio - he was sufi and had wahhabi influnces teacher.
Sh. Shah Waliullah - he was brought as a sufi and when went to makkah he meet Sh. muhammad ibn abdul wahhab and he benefited from his teaching.
Not many people know this, these men were great including Sh. Muhammad ibn abdul wahhab.

SubhanAllah! Whoever posted this video has their hands full.
Comments came from Traditionalists, Salafis, Muslims and non-Muslims.
You've got people in denial about the very existance of Muslim extremism and people who only see Islam AS extremism.
Muslims who see Tasawwuf as essential, and those who cringe at any hint of Sufism. 'Tazkiyat an-Nufus' is 'a Rose by any other...'
I recall someone saying "Be patient with literalists; but absolutely impatient with their extremists."

shouldnt islamic lectures be free, purchase these lectures??
bakhtn 2 years ago 16
I can't say tht I don't feel the same way. But then again people who dedicated their lives to teach Islam should be able to earn a living. Shaikh Abdal Hakim has a source of income other than what comes from selling the lectures but think about the other teachers. If Hamza Yusuf, for instance, had to do a 9 - 5 job to earn a living, how he wud be able to do what he's doing now for the ummah. And thanks Allah there are people like tht who sacrifice the comfort of a 'regular' life to teach us.

Salam. Islam is no doubt simple and straight forward religion... so is the Quran. but only for zikr, akhlaq and guidance.. when it comes to technical stuff (such as deducing islamic law, providing the muslim ummah with direction for their future) you need the best of ppl who have spent their lives studying. in islamic history we have had ppl like the 4 imams, imam bukhari. they were technical people. theres different levels of iman and din. the ulema are the prophet's inheritors.
waqasahmedamin 3 years ago 3
Im not denying the four imams but people like this say that your din will never be accepted by Allah unless you follow ONE.
Muhammed SAW said 'there will be 93 sects in Islam al in the fire accpet on that is those who follow the Quran and My sunnah'

Stupid Salafis, always forcing people to follow there false ways! When infact they don't even know what Bidah is. There new religion is Bidah!
xtremeownage2 3 years ago 3
Many muslims may use that hadith as evidence for the so called "good bidah".
But this hadith deals with the topic of bidah
The Prophet pbuh said: Whoever does a deed that is not in accordance with our Command (i.e. Sunnah), then it is rejected. [Saheeh Muslim]
I do agree with the brother that we should correct peoples mistakes in a calm manner.
thealbamale 3 years ago
What you class as a 'mistake' could simply be an alternative way towards the same end for someone else.
Perhaps different methods and approaches are MEANT to exist, and are a sign of God's infinite mercy on His creation, that He recognises our innate differences and dispositions and provides the scope for difference and conflict accordingly.
Is that not an acceptable approach?
Muslimah1987 2 years ago
Jarîr relates that the Prophet pbuh said: Whoever initiates a good practice (sunnah hasanah) in Islam and is emulated by others in doing so will get the reward of it and the reward of all those who act upon it without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And whosoever initiates an evil practice (sunnah sayyiah) in Islam and is emulated by others will bear the sin of it and the sin of all those who act on it without their burden being diminished in the least. [Sahîh Muslim: (1017)]
thealbamale 3 years ago
I mean the men who swore that they would never get married, they will never sleep at night and that they will fast, they might have had good intentions but the Prophet pbuh was not happy because they were trying to do things which he did not always do i.e the Prophet pbuh did not always fast, he was not celibate etc.

I would like to ask mrdhikrbeads about this so called good bidah and where is the evidence for it.Did not Allah say that the deen has been perfected, so how can we introduce new ideas even if we have good intentions. I mean why cant we try to follow that which the sahaba followed and the the salaf.

omsivoham 3 years ago
very true the Koran has many different interpretations from the liberal to the moderate to the conservative to the extremist, when it comes to Islamic law go to the Koran first it's straight forward, when you go to the Hadith don't equate it with the Koran and you should analyze it and look at the context, the Koran is from God, the Hadith was compiled by man so you have to seperate true Hadith from false Hadith, many self-righteous Muslims think their interpretation is the only one.

Even if it was a bidaa', you should correct someone with hikmah and baseerat. You should pray for that person , what you don't do is go and snatch the tasbeeh and break it . . . the lady's reaction is understandable and this just shows how bad our ikhlaaq is today.

May Allah guide us!
AverageWhiteMuslima 4 years ago
I was replying to abuwaleed123 in my last comment by the way. I also want to say to him:
You are missing the point Abu Waleed. This man did not correct the perceived bidah with hikma(wisdom). Remember the prayer, "Oh Allah do not make us an obstacle (tribulation) to people accepting Islam.
AverageWhiteMuslima 4 years ago
Sister,it is unfortunate that people do not know the meaning of bida'h. Bida'h means innovation in RELIGIOUS MATTERS and thats it. The women are not driving in Saudi for different reasons. It is really a problem that people do not know what bida'h means. I heard Al Qaida is threatening to shoot people (with weapons that were not around at the time of Rasul Allah SAWS mind you) for making falafal since it was not around during the time of Muhammad SAWS.
AbuWaleed123 4 years ago
Making Falafel is not Bida'h and driving cars is not bida'h. making Tawwaf around a tree or a grave or something other then the Kaa'ba is Bida'h. Changing the methods of prayer is Bida'h. Adding something to RELIGIOUS MATTERS is BIDA'H.
AbuWaleed123 4 years ago
abuwaleed: Im just saying that obviously this puritan had no hikma. If he did, he would have approached her in a gentler way. I doubt his harsh way of correcting her made her understand bidah any better. As he says, she swore not to learn anything about Islam. *How* we correct others is as important as correcting others, if not more.
AverageWhiteMuslima 4 years ago
And how *should* we correct others? Subhanallah look at the companions' example. They saw a man making wudu improperly. They decided to approach him, make wudu in front of him, and ask *him* to be the judge of who performed it correctly. When the man saw that their wudu was identical, he realized his own mistake on his own. THAT is hikma, and that is respecting someone's pride.
AverageWhiteMuslima 4 years ago
I totally agree with you that the muslim mentioned had no kikma, I was only commenting on your misunderstanding of bida'h. MANY muslims be it salafi or otherwise have problems with hikma. This guy is not right in saying "puritan muslims" because everyone has a problem with judging others harshly.

Excuse me, its a documented fact Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (the founder of the Hanbali legal school) refused to eat Watermelon because there was no evidence to prove that Muhammad ate it.
kaiwaig 3 years ago
firstly is ahmad bin hanbal a taliban? secondly can you please give me some reference to that? and thirdly even if he did refuse to eat it, did he forbid others to eat it as well?
rehan8649 3 years ago
Look at the legal school - it is the most puritan/fundamentalist of all the legal schools. Regarding the reference, Islam: Past, Present and Future by Hans Kung.
kaiwaig 3 years ago
Oh, and in regards to the Taliban, they subscribe to the hanbal legal school; thus the taliban follow their religions rulings.
kaiwaig 3 years ago
who is hans kung? i want some reference from ahmad bin hambal's writings or fatwas, or from some Islamic sources. and please give me a link to it as well. please provide me proof that ahmad bin hanbal AND the taleban both forbade people from eating watermelons. you sound crazy otherwise.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Geeze, another fucking muslim idiot who doesn't read books. Is this just a Muslim thing, being completely fucking ignorant to the idea of actually reading books outside of religious scriptures. No wonder the fucking islamic culture is stuck in the 7 th century with pig shit ignorant comments such as yours.
kaiwaig 3 years ago
so thats your answer then? i guess all you can do is swear when you dont have any answer. when you talk about Islamic matters, you have to give references from Islamic sources, i dont care what the fuck ur hans kung or tom chung writes. and next time read the conversation b4 jumping into it. sum1 claimed that the taleban forbade ppl from eating watermelons, which was incorrect. now either give proof of that or just shut up moron.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Doesn't this sort of contradict the basic tenet of most if not all religions, that is to bring unity and oneness amongst all of us? Look above for my example regarding swami vikananda's comments regarding this matter. Thanks
guitarguy1381 5 years ago
Why didn't the first part of my comment show up? Anyways my question is related to the idea that muslims must confess/accept that "there's no god but allah"? am I taking this out of context? If you allow that religions
guitarguy1381 5 years ago
For example in if you listen to vivekananda (hindu scholar and sage), speak about Hinduism, he will explain to you that Hinduism does not denounce any religion, it infact embraces all religions. Explain this from the Islamic perspective. Thank you
guitarguy1381 5 years ago
qfqquf Sorry ur alienated from Islam.

You'd be surprised!

gfgguf 5 years ago
Hatred is not common in Islam. But hatred may be common among Muslims. This is a challenge: Seperating Muslims from Islam. If a Muslim commits a crime it does NOT mean that Islam condones it.
Kafir means one who hides the truth. I don't know you so I can't accuse you of that. Often it's the narrow-minded extremists who put these labels on people.
Jesus is not wrong. We just disagree on exactly what he taught.
Marrying a young girl was completely normal & accepted in 7th Century Arabia.

Correction: You were alienated FROM Islam BY Muslims. There's a difference. You weren't alienated BY Islam because Islam does NOT tell these people to do the crazy things they did. "Islam does NOT tell these people to do the crazy things they did. Terrorists are motivated by politics & nationalism & it's all fueled by hatred & ignorance. And they do this using religion as an excuse"
what makes u think muslims did 9/11? theres no proof, only accusations, so dont re-inforce misperceptions. all evidence points to an INSIDE JOB.
rehan8649 4 years ago
And what evidence would that be?
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
watch any independent documentary on 9/11 and you will find plenty of evidence for it. are you also propagating the myth that 19 arabs carried out the biggest attack on american soil? and if u do, i would like to ask you what evidence you have for that crazy theory?
rehan8649 3 years ago
There are many documentaries about conspiracy theories regarding JFK, UFOs, Illuminati, Bugs Bunny! Because you see it on TV doesn't make it true. I subscribe to the idea of the most plausible explanation. Neither of us have any direct evidence to prove our claims. But whats more likely? A far-reaching web of conspiracy & cover-up by the U.S. gov't, Jews & others? Or a bunch of misguided extremists carrying out their so-called "jihad"? Are you saying it's impossible "muslim" extremists did this?
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
it is impossible because steel doesnt melt at fuel-burning temp. steel buildings have never come down cos of fire. what happened to wtc building 7? its owner claimed they "brought it down", how can sum1 do that unless they had prepared for it weeks ago. how did bbc report destruction of building 7 20 mins b4 it happened? where did the plane that supposedly crashed into the pentagon disappear off to? why dont we have any video of the plane crashing?
rehan8649 3 years ago
I'll accept the "steel not melting" postulation but you're forgetting about the damage caused to the structure by the jumbo jet's impact at 100+ mph which weakened one (if not two) sides of the building & contributed to its collapse. There are documentaries about this FACT as well. BBC? The media can get details wrong esp. on live TV during frantic "doomsday-like" events. Pentagon plane? The camera recorded a frame every 2 seconds. So happens the plane crashed during the 59 frames not recorded.
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
lol r u a representative of the bush admin or what? cos u sound exactly as stupid. buildings dont come falling down in such erfect manner by fires or jet-crashes. when bbc reports that building 7 has been demolished 20 mins b4 the event and u can see the building still standing in the background there is something fishy. add to that the fact that the jewish owner of the building said in an interview that he decided to "bring it down". which means he had it prepared weeks ago.
rehan8649 3 years ago
and your stupid theory about 59 frames not being recorded(where did u come up with that from?) also is laughable. this is the pentagon, the most secure area in the world wiht prolly dozens of cameras at each location. but lets say theres only 1 camera, it shows a ball of fire but it doesnt show the plane at all, no tail no body. and then we are supposed to believe that a wide plane leaves a small hole in the building without leaving any wreckag at all. the whole plane disappears somehow.
rehan8649 3 years ago
im sorry but you can believe an administration which tells you that the fire in wtcdestroyed the blackboxes of the planes but somehow the passports of the hijackers survived it. you can continue to spread lies about Muslims and spread the same propaganda of the bush admin but please take off this fake cloak of righteousness that you are wearing then if your hatred for our Muslim brothers is so deep that you will accuse them of things they have denied.
rehan8649 3 years ago
its very obvious who did it, but if you want to close your eyes and continue to blame Muslims for it, just like you are told day and night on the media, then go ahead. you will find out on the Day of Resurrection the consequences of accusing your Muslim brothers of things which they didnt do without evidence and based on accusations of ppl which have been proven to be liars(WMDs?), just cos its "more likely" according to u. i hope Allah holds you accountable for it.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Let me re-phrase my extremist question... Are you saying that there are no terrorists in the world who are Muslim, who are willing to do what was done on 9/11?
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
i dont know whos willing to do what mate. the point is that YOU are accusing your Muslim brothers for acts that you have no proof that they have done and those accusations come from the kuffar who have been proven to be lying, which you gladly acceot because they are "more likely". i just pray that Allah holds you responsible for this slander on believers on the Day of resurrection.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Dodging my very simple, straight-forward question. No need to continue until you answer it.
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
im not dodging anything. maybe there are, maybe there are not. i hear abt it all the time on western(jewish-owned) media, but im not going to accuse my Muslim brothers based on hearsay coming from the enemies of Islam. you choose to slander Muslims, and that too using the accusations of the kuffar against them, and you are very happy doing that. all i can say is may Allah guide you.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Open your eyes brother and accept the reality that we have extremism in our ranks. We don't need the media to tell us that. Any participation in a rather large Muslim community will reveal this fact. Although these extremists usually are a tiny minority, their sick twisted views of non-Muslims need to be addressed and corrected. They may not be willing to engage in terrorism, but many of them agree with the "al-Qaeda" worldview and this is a big problem. (continued)
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
As far as me accusing my Muslim brothers... I'm not blaming those "19" hijackers - I have no idea who they are. I'm blaming extremists/terrorists who claim to be Muslim whoever they are. I'm basing this on the geo-political situation of Muslims today & the motivation it fuels. I guess you'd have us believe that all the suicide bombings in Iraq & Afghanistan today, along with all the terrorist attacks leading up to 9/11, were orchestrated by the kufar also? We have problems let's stop denying it!
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago
ofcourse you are blaming Muslims for it. you said that you believe that Muslims carried out 9/11 because "it is more likely". now thats a slander against a Muslim without ANY proof, which is a big sin. secondly attacks on soldiers in iraq and afghanistan are an entirely legitimate form of self-defense, dont call it terrorism. have u ever heard of the incident when a few british soldiers were caught planting bombs in basra, i wudnt be surprised if they r behind most terrorist incidents.
rehan8649 3 years ago
Slander is a sin whether its against Muslims or non-Muslims. You blame crazy Jews & I blame crazy Muslims. So are you slandering Jews? No, because you're not naming names just like I'm not naming names. But we have our opinions based on what we see in the world & we're BOTH entitled to them. Otherwise we can bury our heads in the sand & deny the diseases plaguing our world. One such disease is religious extremism among Muslims in the form of terrorism which you REFUSE to acknowledge. (continued)
wwwMeccaCentricCom 3 years ago

Prophet Muhammad said, "A Muslim never taunts or curses or abuses nor resorts to vulgar talking." (Abdullah bin Mas'ud & recorded by Tirmidhi)
He also said "Let him who believes in God and the Last Day either speak good or keep silent." (Abu Hurairah, recorded by Bukhari & Muslim)
"It does not befit a Siddiq (a true man) that he should opt to cursing." (Abu Hurairah & recorded by Imam Muslim)
Allah said in the Qur'an, "[The believers] have been guided to the purest of speeches." (22:24)

"They may not be willing to engage in terrorism, but many of them agree with the "al-Qaeda" worldview and this is a big problem"
what is the alqaeda worldviews and objectives? ok lets see:
1. exit of all foreign armies from Muslim lands
2. end of illegitimate monarchies like saudi etc.
3. Islamic rule in Muslim lands.
now which one do you have a problem with? do u find it surprising that majority of Muslims view alqaeda favorably then?
rehan8649 3 years ago

THERE ARE CRIMINALS AMONG MUSLIMS. anyone who supports the foreign occupiers of Muslim lands is a traitor and a criminal, so i dont mind if they kill police or army which works under kuffar occupiers. and i DO NOT support killing of non-combatants, that is HARAM!
rehan8649 3 years ago
Please explain how my statement is a contradiction.

That is true. One can not force to convert another one. Your example of behavior is the main thing. If you are good, others will raise interest in you, if not they will just ignore you. Still. every religion and culture has its good people and bad people. Depending on situation everybody can be both of them. That is why we pray and remember Allah.
