  • Famous Blue Raincoat is the 6th album by Jennifer Warnes. It debuted on the Billboard 200 on February 14, 1987 and peaked at #. 72. Originally released by Cypress Records, it was reissued by Private Music after Cypress went out of business. Released in January 1987, Famous Blue Raincoat is a tribute to Leonard Cohen, with whom Warnes had toured as a backup singer in the 1970s. The album's songs span much of Cohen's career, from his 1969 album Songs from a Room to his 1984 album Various Positions

  • perfectttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • ABSOLUTLY AWesome amazing O.o <3

  • why cant I meet a great looking woman like that with such great hair and eyebrows

  • Bohemian rhapsody revisited I would vote this as the best song ever written

  • Good video except I was sad to see it cut off the song. My favorite line is "Thanks for the trouble you took for her eyes, I thought it was there for good, so I never tried."

  • Err.. from* her eyes.. ;) I can't type at 3am.

  • If anyone was made to cover this song, it's her.

  • Unthinkable...Perhaps better than the prototype...Nice work...

  • Holy Crap - I didn't know Tori did a version of this tune. Its AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

  • The song is Leonard Cohen famous blue raincoat... you cant cite someone who covered the song as the artist

  • love your vid x

  • Knowing your generation, it was a suicide...

  • What really happened the evening of May 24,2005? Was Travis killed? or do I believe it was suicide? I think he was murdered and you will be held accountable for his death!!

  • cover by tori amos

  • very beautiful..tnx:)

  • Trav died four years ago today.Danyel , we don't blame you.

  • wow, i have i tear in my eye. I can honestly say that my life was altered with Leonard Cohen's words and often by his cynicism on love and life. I am glad to have known his music, and often find myself frustraded when people don't know who he is. we need to keep his memory alive!

  • he's not dead, you know.

  • I know, haha, reading my comment I can see how it comes across like that. But when i mean "his memory" I just mean he is one of the forgotten artists from the 70's and 80's. I want to go watch his show in Boston..

  • @Tribe84

'keep his memory alive'? He's not dead you tool.

  • @Tribe84

    He ain´t dead!

  • @Tribe84 You know he's still alive right?

  • @SapphireJesse08 FUCK yes, he is!!!!!!!!!!!!! o.O What's wrong with u ppl?

  • This cover is unbelievable

  • What do you think about our unique version of this song?

Find it here on YouTube: Ricky en Slingertje - Famous Blue Raincoat 2009

    Greetings from Holland

  • Now we all want to know who's Danyel and why did Travis killed himself.

  • This was us cryin' summer 2005

  • Check out Cliff Le Jeune's live performance of this and a few other Cohen songs... you may not have heard of him because he is an actor from the east coast of Canada but I heard Cohen sent him a present after he heard his disc!

  • This looks like you: Danyel. love u miss u hurt for you 2005

  • an unusual and deeply felt reading....too bad the lyrics are less clear than other readings since, well, cohen is a poet after all, who figured out how to popularize his poetry in song. (or returned to the ancient tradition of the troubadours actually)

  • Hey Leonard, thanks 4 writing this, and Tori..just thank u for the time.

  • volim te tori al ne više od leonarda!

  • Dear dadeu: I'am living for nothing now. Last time I saw you, u looked so much older. my son now.my son in law. please welcome me

  • This is such a beautiful song. thank you

  • 3:13 to :27 to bid you farewell.

  • I love this cover. Tori can pull off pretty much everything, even one of my other favorite singers.

  • I just heard this song on the radio for the first time today.... and it's like a really great song :) Very different

  • nice no smoking sign

  • This is awesome.

  • couldn't u all just apreciate a lovely cover,,who cares if it is better or worse than the original one??.it's a good cover!... i luv it..

  • This has been one of my all time favorite songs for many many many.. many years. I love the video and I love what Tori Amos does with it. So what album is this from? There is actually an album of Leonard Cohen cover songs that I DON'T HAVE!!

  • Tower of Song. Most of the other covers on the CD aren't that great, but Tori's is a definite standout.

  • this is danyel and Trav. I miss U

  • so bu-ti-ful. i have saved this to my playlist entitled Danyel without Travis 3-13-78 (born) 5-24-2005 ( soul passed on).

  • super

  • like but video stopped at the peak of the song...

  • güzel olmuş arkadaşlar ellerinize sağlık

  • inconstanti, we don't call people ass other then to their faces. Crass. The cover is in fact quite strong and included on a CD of Cohen's covers alongside with some big shots. It's hard to take anything much father than Cohen's taken it. So what!?

  • What an ass. You actually SHOULD do covers because you like the song. Why would you do them if you didnt like it? This song by the way, never appeared in a Tori Amos album, but on a record of Cohen's covered songs. He chose them himself so what can you possible say about being a good or bad cover.

  • this cover isnt very good. its so obvious and pointless. she doesnt bring the song anywhere further than Cohen, which in my opinion is what covers should be about if you're goin to release them. you shouldnt do covers just cause you like the song, but hey its the easy way to fill up an album or a concert.

  • I follow your point. Quite easy to take one of the best song of cohen and say "wow! what a feeling!" Unfortunately, the voice is so tortured, as always by her anyway, and make it sound quite unbearable; reminds me an advertisement for cats food (sheba maybe) The best covers of cohen are to be found on "i'm your fan". Not all of them but still.

  • So where the heck is the rest of the video??

  • This cover is unbelievable

  • this version has all the dramatism and drive of Tori on the masterful verses of Leonard

  • ...Besides Cohen fans, who else is bringing his music back these days? It certainly doesn't interest Britney Spears.

  • klip muhteşem olmuş, parçayı gecenin bu vakti tekrar tekrar dinlemek hoş olmadı ama bnm için... offf cohen offf

  • She sings "Sincerely, L. Cohen." When Jennifer Warnes sings this song, she sings "Sincerely, A Friend."

  • Also, Cohen isn't even American, so why did that poster implicitly insult Americans by saying that the only reason why someone would defend Cohen would be if that person were American. Again, this is a great cover, but it just bothers some of us that Cohen isn't getting his due; he should be credited, that's all.

  • No one bashed Tori until someone overreacted and called someone else a "fucking retard" with "shit in [his] mouth" simply because that person had said Tori couldn't have written this song. I love both Tori and Leonard and I think this is a great cover, but people are entitled to the opinion that, even though Tori is good, Leonard was a much better songwriter than Tori. I certainly don't think Tori is bad in any way, but Leonard is in a class by himself.

  • Do you Tori Amos bashers even know her music? I mean, more than one or two singles that were popular in 1994? You guys have no idea.

  • The song is 'famous blue raincoat' by leonard cohen, COVERED by tori amos. There's no way she could write that song on her own.

  • your a fucking retard! Your probably American, how could you say she couldn't write such a thing, she has written music that has touched and helped people all over the world. Keep your shit in your mouth, thanx babe!

  • Oh look....a slavering Tori Amos fan. Between her and the golden girls, they have the confused and awkward teen female market shored up. Tori Amos could like a thousand lifetimes and still come nowhere NEAR the talent and poetry of Leonard Cohen. That's why she's performing his music, not vice versa.

  • I'm a very big fan of Leonard Cohen's peotry and music. But you have to understand that Tori really does move and help a lot of people through her music, she's an artist as is he, why are you watching her video if you disagree so?

  • Because I was looking for leonard cohen and found this crap.

  • Musical sophistication is totally subjective, but you obviously don't know anything about her lyricism or her music.

  • Amos performs various artist's songs. Infact, you never know what she will play at a concert. Her covers exist because she loves and respects the tune and loves and respects music.

  • love it love it love it! congs. to all especially to eren .)

  • Very hauntingly beautiful

  • Dax Riggs does a way better cover.

  • The "song is" Tori Amos COVERING Leonard Cohen's famous Blue Raincoat. The original is far better than cornflake girls, but if you have to use a cover at least credit Lenny.

  • nice&pretty cool..

  • cool....

  • whoops well im going to see if i can find that Tori

    CD. thats great.

  • heartbeat3, it is Tori amos's haunting voice

  • wonderful..

  • You really captured the mood of Leonards Cohen's words. I really like this also. Your voice is haunting.

  • Nice job on your assignment. Moodful pics and the use of my favourie cover. Too bad it's not the whole song.

  • I like this!
