This song is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BADASS!!
Damn, I'm bummed these guys didn't go big. There music was sick! Apparently their "...For The Whole World To See." album never get finished, only half did. Can anyone confirm that?
yep.... i thought i had heard/read about most 70s punk but stumbled across this tonight - never heard of them and it pisses me off. Awesome track. Thanks for posting - you have done music a huge favour.
wow, big fan of early punk. pistols, chelsea, uk subs etc. never heard this band before, pretty good stuff and funny thing, theyre a black 3 piece band! great sound and just a rarity for back then. these guys jam!
This song rocks! listening to this you can hear the sound so many other bands built on. Sounds almost like early Bad Brains. These guys came along too soon and disco killed them off. Glad I discovered them now though!
i heard they used to be in various funk bands from around det. then one nite one of the bros went and saw an alice cooper show he came home and said this is the music we should be playin, and death was formed, two of the original members sons play some of death's music in their band today,
Ten minutes ago I was stocked on the highway near Montreal looking for my hotel. A Dee-Jay from Burlington talked about Detroit band «Death» as the first punk band. I didn't about them. Really. He put a song and it was so great. I arrived at the hotel and I could learned more about this great band. I really like the sound and the energy. Thanks!
They did not last because they were screwed over by Clive Davis, when he wanted the band to change their names from Death to something else, just so that Clive Davis could make more money off of them and for his own evil purposes. Death was screwed over by Clive Davis, that is why they did not last long in the music scene, and it is a shame.
Great stuff! Heard them the first time a few months ago on a radioshow here i Sweden. The story goes that Death´s recordcompany refused to release this album unless the band changed their name, Death didn´t change their name, so the rec.company dropped them and it didn´t get properly realeased until now. Cheers!!!

They should've released their albums independent they would've lasted longer, instead of getting screwed over because of their name.

Great songs. It's too bad they never lasted.
Their sound is like Bad Brains + Jimi Hendrix.
Kaninskavich 2 years ago 2
yeah jimi's influence is evident everywhere, but this being from the 70s it was definitely a foremost for any band.

i would say more stooges+motorcity5. at eneyrate a great but overlooked band.
CDHIgnorance 2 years ago
Really? I see they have the aggressiveness of MC5 but Bad Brains' doubles as they did funk, soul and punk and the vocals sound similar.
Eh The Stooges I could only relate by them both being proto-punk.
Kaninskavich 2 years ago
yea sometimes the vocals do remind me of h.r. but certain riffs remind me of sped up stooges.
CDHIgnorance 2 years ago
fucking amazing even the lyrics are straight up rebellious puNK!
