This series was indeed fantastic and very well made for 1978. I disagree that Glen A Larson is a better writer than George Lucas - they are both imaginative and creative in their respective creations - but different enough to be unique. Both are top notch and to be applauded.
The 2 centurions walking through the baseship's corridor also had an ongoing bet about how long Baltar & Lucifer had been married.....
Seriously, John Colicos did a great job with HIS orignal version of Baltar, & Jonathan Harris ( The voice of " Lucifer " ) was a great " old - school " actor who performed in a lot of early TV shows, notably " Lost in Space ". John Colicos did many " villain " - type roles, notably Kor the Klingon in Original ST.
so is Baltar not human or is he just an ass? I have never seen the original Battle Star Galactica and I'm very interested. Lucifer's voice is awesome. Also I remember a LONG time ago, when I was like 7 there was this movie on that now I percieve as BSG. It had to do with kind of an alien invasion type deal. But there were police officers with ryhnocerus heads. And they moved cinematronically(I don't think I spelled that correctly)Does anyone know what I'm talking about? if so what is that from?
I watched th e Living Legend the nights it was first on in November 1978. Little did I know as a kid I was watching what would become the Favorute 2 episodes of the entire series. Dors anyone consider The Living Legend, Parts 1 and 2 to be Television History ?
Mission Galactica :The Cylon Attack" came from 2 episodes. This certain clip never was part of the episode "Living Legend", but does follow the time frame of the episode.
audionautas. com/2010/09/how-to-wreck-nice-beach-dave-tompkins.html Now everyone reading this will know that the voicing of the Cylon Centurions from BSG:TOS was done on an EMS Vocoder 2000 and NOT on a Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201!!!
The EMS Vocoder 2000 IS the one used in the series according to the book 'How to Wreck a Nice Beach' by Dave Tompkins...the most complete and comprehensive book EVER on vocoders!!! They did NOT use the Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201!!! audionautas. com/2010/09/how-to-wreck-nice-beach-dave-tompkins.html Needs to be translated from Spanish to English.
Could Kenneth Branagh Top John Colicos in the Role of the Traitor Baltar ?
An Adventure and Drama is only a Good as it's Villain. John Colicos's Baltar Sold out and Betrayed the Entire Human Race for his Greed, want of Profit and Desire for Power. He was no Innocent person even though he tried to play it that way. The Evil Cylon Empire Used him and Corrupted him Further so they could use him as a Tool in their Relentless Desire to Destroy the Human Race and Remove it from Existence for Good.
@acrovader Actually, the guy who was principally responsible for the cool special effects in SW:ANH, John Dykstra, was the same guy who did the special effects for BSG. Lucas *fired* Dykstra at the end of principle photography for SW:ANH, because Lucas thought Dykstra was wasting money on inventing the camera systems used for the shots. The result? Dykstra won two Academy Awards for his work on SW:ANH and ILM got a special effects system that set them up for the future. Good call there, George.
@daviddrakehunter I laugh how dolts will find any reason to bash Lucas. He made mistakes, yes, but he deserves credit where credit is due. Lucas owns Larson on everything. Larson created BSG to cash in on the Star Wars popularity. Plus nonsense that Larson is a better writer... uh, there were different people writing the teleplay for various episodes. It isn't like SW: ANH wasn't nominated for an Oscar for 'best screenplay'? It wasn't like Lucas was nominated for 'best director' for ANH...
@acrovader What a sad little person you are. I'm only stating the facts; if you don't like these facts, that's your prerogative, but that hardly makes me a "Lucas-bashing dolt," does it? And given that you are A) attacking people on a BSG thread for the crime of liking BSG; and B) defending Lucas with a fervor that suggests you're either a blood relative or a jilted lover in denial, I'm wondering just how far past medication time you really are. Just breathe kiddo...your master is still rich.
@daviddrakehunter That's not the kind of rebuttal I'd expect from someone that thinks they are winning the argument... lmao... Thanks for dignifying my comments!
Further, I'd say the only place Lucas owned Larson is in business savvy. Lucas negotiated full merchandising rights for SW, basically because 20CFox thought they were worthless. That's why you see a million-and-one things with the SW brand being pimped out, because a significant portion of that goes into Lucas' pocket. Larson, OTOH, dealt with Universal on a *television* deal, and as such was seriously hamstring in budget and content approval. Still, Larson did a fairly good job regardless.
@daviddrakehunter Yeah.. as for Lucas 'pimping' Star Wars dvds, etc... People are still buying his products. I find it ridiculous that hypocrites bitch and moan about Lucas wanting to make money on Star Wars, yet they still buy the Star Wars dvds, blu-rays, etc.. Once Star Wars stops being a cash cow, Lucas would stop with all the dvds, special editions, etc.. If there was no Star Wars, there would be no BSG..
Very nice extended shots indeed !!! Have you ever dug up the shot of the real life chameleon/lizard sitting on the Imperious Leader on his throne ??? There's 2 versions of Baltar, in one he is executed, the other they obviously let him live too.
Great work GoldCylon!! I definitely NEVER remembered this part (when the two centurions were walking and talking with each other? So it was NOT in the Epic series, amazing! Thanks for posting this particular edit

Face it: if it wasn't for Lucas, there would be no Star Wars. If it wasn't for Star Wars, there would be no Battlestar Galactica...

"Glen Larson does a better job as a writer than George Lucas."
Yeah... it wasn't like Lucas was nominated for a 'best screenplay' Oscar for ANH..
Larson had different writers for the show. Did Larson even write the dialogue for this episode??

I'd very much like a base ship along with suitably programmed Cylons. Well, one can dream.
