never got into the whole terrestrial battleships in space thing, but still not to bad. but not even close to the best SDF1.....IMHO robotech just bets the rest..

@1crazyfocker How is this unoriginal? The whole point was that the Earth didn't have any spaceship hulls big enough to mount the Hadou engine, so they had to use something ridiculously large. The Yamato had thousands of crew. It's very large.
What IS silly is having a plexiglass window in the Captain's cabin. Why did the enemies never shoot it?
@DGneoseeker1 its not original because they are just taking a normal ship and adding "rocket engine" to them and this is not the only case of them doing that, no imagination, no original ideas, a case of let just take something some one else took the time to design for water and add a space drive to it. but thats MHO and why i dont like these types, because they are not original, and show no imagination of the creator. but thats just my 2 cents
@1crazyfocker Turns out you're right. The "stick rockets on a ship" thing seems to have been done before in manga. Also the wave motion gun was originally in a porno....
even if it would be twice the size of the yamato that would be about 550m it still seems rather small compared to the dimensions of some other sci fi universe ships (e.g. a Star Destroyer is 1600m)
This ship actually makes an appearance alongside the Arcadia and Yamato in the second Galaxy Express 999 manga, vol. 3, p.66, panel.1 (which was also the only manga that was published in the USA). The Emeraldas was also in the sky at the same time, but it wasn't on the same page.
looks like a nolstagic refit 2 me. But what do I know? I did love what was shown US tv back in early 80's. Compare side by side to what George Lucas did from then on on. ROTJ and even the last three crappy movies. Star Wars looked good. lacked sumthin... oh wait, depth of character interaction.
For a minute, I thought these were spoof vids where people were taking random ships (in this case, a preposterously-sized one...) and superimposing shots of it flying around to the old SB Yamato theme...
I like this version in the same way I like to see a superhero story re-imagined. Like in Marvel's ' What-If?' and a lot of D.C. stuff such as Bruce-Wayne becomming the first Green-Lantern of Earth(now THATS will-power!) and so forth. Wow! Quad Wave-Wave Motion engines. And all those view-ports--an obvious lift from Star Trek

No offense Argo/Yamato, but the bridge tower on this thing actually looks like the original Battleship Yamato. If this bridge was on the Argo/Yamato, it would (in my opinion) look better. btw Great Vid

ill take real animation over this computerized crap any day. not to take away from the guys doing it but after seeing what they did to emeraldas and harlock with the computer enhanced scenes I had to break those dvd's and trash em infavor of my old BETA max copies lol.
Get ready then, the new Yamato film coming out is certain to have CGI based on the trailer. My feelings are mixed too, I hope they take the time to make it look good. Final Yamato or YAmato 2520 level animation would have done me fine.
accoarding to some fans they claim this is the Yamato's SISTER SHIP. not musashi although that ship WAS in one of leiji matsumotos comics as an armored battleship cargo ship.
um... actually I have a manga about this ship and it is a class of battleship much larger than the yamato. The name "Mahoroba" is I guess a super yamato class warhip, or larger I think. Supposibly it participated in operations with the Yamato and Musashi and in one ocassion was the closest ship to possibly help the Yamato during its suicide missoin but was turned back, leaving the Yamato to her fate. The Mahoroba was never sunk, and instead was preseved in secrecy and turned into a space warship

Interesting wave motion gun, if that's in fact what it is...almost looked like it was sucking in the enemy ship instead of firing tachyon energy through it.
