  • you wear contacts on the field?

  • A little bid to much tan for my likeing. Good job

  • @LEPPKE911 Thanks for watching. A lot of the real steel guys start with a solid color as the base. For this vid, I did what was necessary to get the point across easily. This color combo was very basic, but you saw the effect in the video.

  • Awesome

  • I personally think you should have tanned the whole gun, but its just my opinion. Looks good though, and believe I will try this myself.

  • @Chaos8282 This was a basic tutorial.. If I painted the entire gun, I would have taped it up, or removed the internals.. And that would have made the video too long and drawn out.. This gives the viewer an idea of what the sponging technique involves.. Creativity and imagination are the only limitations..

  • @SHWELL11 Is there a risk of jamming the gun because you use paint? Stupid questino maybe :p

  • @Centration Not if done with care. As long as no paint gets inside the gun or barrel, you shouldnt have any issues. This particular vid does not really show all my prep work, this is a basic run down for a quick job.

  • did you have to get everything from the inside of the gun out so it was just the shell of the gun or was it with everything in it?

  • @xSomeRandomKidx No, not for this particular one. As stated, it is not always necessary to take out the internals to do this paint job since most of the painting is controlled with the sponge.

  • I got that exact gun off of airsoft GI for Christmas and it was broken in the box and doesn't even shoot! D-Boys sucks!!

  • i see master chief helment

  • Great job!

  • @SHWELL11 thanks for the video! I've done this to two of my guns and it looks great. I used OD green, tan, brown and black and it looks great in the woods!

  • Cool man!!! Do you think, I can do it with Woodland camo?? :)!

  • @MasterOfPwningOnLoL Works with any color combo you like.

  • love the halo helmet

  • Comment removed

  • i want your halo mask in the background O.O

  • Love ur videos great job doing em, always helpfull. Could I ask what colors u used for the base coat an stripes on ur echo1 HK 416 or 614. I really liked that camo an like to try it out?

  • @19DESERTFOX91 there was no base coat. I kept it black, and just dabbed OD Green, and Earth brown by Krylon.. It is their Camo paint. To break up the 2 colors a bit, I also mixed them together for a 3rd tone.

  • what kind of primer or enamel would you recomend to make the paint not come off?

  • i use Magpul, LaRue, EOTech, Midwest, and VLTor...ooh wait, i don't play airsoft ;)

  • @Boneless610 And you watched and decided to comment on a video marked Airsoft.. lol..

  • @SHWELL11 yes, believe it or not...my little brother showed me this one and i plan on trying this later today! thnx for the link to the AR15 forum as well

  • Noob question here, but does this involve any removal of the internal parts? ( I assume not, considering you didn't mention that!)

  • @TreyStrumsStrings Actually a common question. It is totally up to your preference if you want to disassemble or not. For this particular job, I did not remove anything internally because I was only painting stripes, and dabbing with sponges. On jobs where I paint the entire gun, I recmmend it or at least taping it off to prevent paint from getting inside.

  • @SHWELL11 Thanks! I'm looking into getting a new gun soon, and this would be a great way to make it stand out next time I go to play! Defintely a cool, simple method of painting I never would've though of! I'll probably at least tape it off, couldn't hurt.

  • Diamond

  • how do you get the diamon effect?

  • dont you have to use high temp paint on real fire arms

    ?

  • @v8rx7guy Not necessarily, but none o these are Real Steel. It depends on what parts of real steel you are painting, and also what the guns are made of.

  • @SHWELL11 You have inspired me lol, Im going to be using duracoat will use an airbrush for the first coat and then sponge method for the rest they have a high temp paint that will hold up to 1800 degrees so yeah it will work great. I have been doing research since i watched the video lol

  • There is another technique that you might enjoy as well. Take a laundry bag and cut it up into sheets. Similar stripe/blocky spray laid down, and then use the laundry bag to create a snake scale pattern. It takes a bit of practice and you have to go a bit lighter on the spray paint, but the effects are nice up close and camo pretty well.

  • SHWELL11, my man, you a genious!

  • Who even dislikes something like this? It is skillfully done, no matter if you like guns or not!

  • @SHWELL11 My walmart doesn't sell camo paint? Any other suggestions?

  • @Dylemus home depot

  • @Dylemus They should indeed have it.. It is in the Paint department.. If not, then go to Homepot or Lowes, they have it, as well as ACE Hardware Stores. If you still cannot find it, then any ULTRA FLAT paint color will work the same.

  • @SHWELL11 Thanks for the quick reply SHWELL!

  • do you recommend to put a clear coat protective on it after your done

  • @MrAbear23 Yup, but i use a matte clear coat.

  • Hi Schwell ! This Video was amazing and really helpful, My first camo which i tried with your method, was a digital grey and came out amazing ! Thank you!

But i just wanted to ask, what were the exact 3 colours that you used in this tutorial?

    Thanks!

  • Hey Shwell, I camo'd my CZ 858 stock, fore and pistol grips and wasn't really happy with what the final product was until I saw this video...I added the sponge effect and it brought out everything else that I had done...Fabulous...Love your vid man and it's on my favorites.

  • @conmaesta Thanks for the support. Glad it was able to make your time and work acceptable.

  • I JUST SAW YOUR VID VERY COOL I'M A PAINTBALL PLAYER THINKING IN GETTING INTO AIRSOFT BUT I'M GOING TO DO THAT PAINT JOB ON MY TM7 GOOD LOOKING WITH THAT VID

  • do you remove the internals before you spray it orrrr wut.

  • @CommanderC0D In this vid, No... As stated in the video, it is not necessary for most of these Sponging jobs, but most of the time I do remove internals before painting guns. But because I did not apply a base color and used the stock color of the gun, removal was not needed since application of paint is controlled.

  • dude. thats some badass stuff. better than my cheapy painters tape stripes XD so right now im in the proccess of soaking my polimer parts in mineral spirits and vigorously scrubbing with sandpaper and steel wool -_-

  • does it dry smooth and not sticky

  • @DCsk8ing1245 Yes, if it is done correctly, it comes out Great.. Light coats, and even spray.. Let dry for at least 24 hours and you will have the perfect results. I have been doing this for a while, so I have pretty much mastered it.

  • or just painting it with real paint?

  • @BigMonsterWalrus Honestly, either way will work for you.. If you take care to cover the parts of it that you dont want paint to get on, then you should be fine using paint on it.. People do this with those kinds of guns all the time.. But please check your local laws and make sure you are not going to get in any trouble for having the gun painted.

  • Would anyone recomend using permanent marker on airsoft guns because i just got a walmart m1911 and im afraid if I spray paint it it will break so shood i use permanent markers?

  • @airsoftreviewers09 Brand unknown, but it is called a MOD stock.. Dboys makes one, as well as other manufacturers.

  • Do you think it would work if i started with OD stripes and filled in with dark earth and tan? It looks like theres a bit too much tan on your gun to blend in with my surroundings. But still this is a very good tutorial for an awesome paint job.

  • @emomusiciankid That is the beauty of this design, there is no set way to do it, so anything, any combo, any colors will work.. Just base your colors on your environment and go for it.. You cannot do it wrong.

  • Good job i really like your videos ( no joke)

  • it looks like digital camo, nice!!!

  • Master Chief helmet on shelf in background lol nice

  • You got your iron sight fixed!

  • @SHWELL11 Do i have to spray paint on my gun to do the sponging? Or can i just do it on a pure black gun. Will it work? Please reply.

  • @driftstar201 no. A base coat is not necessary

  • @SHWELL11 Ok thanks man.

  • My attention is driven away by your Akai MPC 1000 box up under your ceiling man!^^

  • @demidevil666 lol... MPC, yamaha Motif XS rack, Protools, and a 16channel mixer. It is what i use to make my music for the vids.

  • im so using this on my m4 dude thanks

  • Is it vital to have the stripes like that? Or could you put a solid coat on the gun and then just dab on the sponge.

  • @CrookedRevelations Solid coat is more than fine, I have done it that way as well. That is the beauty of this technique, there is no set way to do it. the only limitation is your imagination.

  • @SHWELL11 Awesome, thanks man. I didn't wanna do that and then end up having my gun look super ugly. :(

  • ...amazing job

  • i was going to do snake skin with the OD and Dark Earth on my M14 but this is sexier. I think ill sponge it

  • would you (out of 100%) recomend the finish? or would the wear be usefull? (im working on an 870 from Vietnam era) Airsoft.

  • @The0Russian0 I have done this to a lot of my guns.. I did a wear job on ONE of them... So I guess that means I like this best. But a worn out look def has its place. It is totally up to the user.

  • @SHWELL11 ok, thanks, ive been wanting to paint my shotgun for months, its only a 30 dollar gun, so ill skip the wear.

  • hey shwell

you should start a custom gun painting service. I think you would do well with that

  • @AirsoftUnified Then it would be a job and not just a hobby.

  • Nice camo man, looks awesome

  • you almost got teh thumbs down for mentioning arfcom. fuck arfcom. other than that, VERY nice paint job. one of the best ive seen.

  • shwell, one small thing, NOBODY uses larue stuff in airsoft

  • @AT4ROCKET You are wrong.. I use it, so someone does.. lol..

  • @SHWELL11 Its too expensive and too nice for airsoft tho..... I did have a KA larue 9" M4 for a while.... super sexy gun... i miss it.

  • What are some tips on keeping it smooth and not sticky?

  • @lilhinkle4444 Spraying light coats of paint and letting them dry thoroughly. But the Clear coat is the most important and hardest one to use. You want to do realy light coats, realy light. and multiple light coats.. And let it dry for a few days before handling for best results. I only experience sticky when I use too much paint and dont allow it to dry enough.

  • @SHWELL11 Alright thanks bro, I appreciate it.

  • Sweet video man, thanks for the idea and tutorial! I think I might try this out. I just don't want my gun to end up being something I don't like if I do it wrong lol.

Dang straight bro, let's keep Airsoft growing!

    (I'm subscribing)

  • hey shwell, im going to camo my airsoft bolt action sniper. Im just gonna do black stripes, but do i have to tap up bolts or screws like i saw this one you tube video do? Or can i just spray stripes like you did with your example?

  • @GrandeJalepeno That is the only way to ensure you dont get paint in parts you dont want. better to be on th safer side.

  • best tutorial yet? do you think this method will look just as nice on a flat panel surface?

  • @k24boy123 Without a doubt.

  • does this not easily chip off ?

  • @Kromegraffiti Mine o not, have not so far.. But that Clear coat is the key to that. Without a clear coat it will come off, but on some guns that looks like wear and actually looks good. But addin the Matte Clear indeed protects the finsh extremely well.

  • SICK camo!

  • This is awesome. Thanks

  • This is awesome. Thanks

  • I tried this and it turned out great so I continued to do my other gun and my mask, thanks Shwell!

  • @joeisyourfriend Good to hear it man..

  • Its sooo cool. Thank you for this vid. and the best wishes from austria :D

  • Shwell why with the magpul pts and the g&g you only paint the upper half

  • @macneil5401 Because I think it looks cool on some guns that way.. Also, the parts that are not painted, are covered by my body and arms when held in shooting position.

  • I subbed because of this vid.

  • That's a moneymaker

  • Nice video

  • nice camo and great tutorial

  • Sweet videos!!!

  • btw nice raider

  • check out jebline for camos

  • @ssickles9 Yup, he def has some great tutorials on making Camos.. I used to do it his way, but this way is so much easier. Lazy camo..

  • @SHWELL11 thats the way i like it the lazy way

  • great vid man...gave me some good ideas

  • I'm going to try this. I'll probably test it on my cheap springer first then decide on painting my m4.

  • Hands down best painting technique. Awesome.

  • Good thing too is that since its a small "layer" on it, it dries faster

  • This makes your gun look unique an original if they have never seen a shwell video!!! this is so cool

  • This is smart... AS much as I want to paint my gun I want to keep the nice armalite trades...

  • Do you have to cover the holes of the gun up with tape?

  • @TheBugoutbag Short answer, NO.. But that is only if you are not putting down a base coat covering the entire gun. BUT, I do highly recommend you to cover as much as possible in order to prevent getting paint inside the gun where you do nto want it. FTR, I did not do any taping on this one, but I made certain not to "SPRAY" paint in the open areas. Thanks for watching.

  • Would this work well with graffiti type spray paint - Montana gold. ( I want to do this to my vltor upper, panels, peq box, stock and maybe something else.)

  • @hT0owleyBo0gerH yes. Any paint can be used.

  • @SHWELL11 Ok, I was just wonderin if you had any bad experience as once I ruined my sniper rifle by using really cheap paint. Thanks.

  • @hT0owleyBo0gerH my experience tells me prep and techniques are the important part.

  • Nice vid.u look like randy Jackson. in a good way.

  • Sick

  • @robbykid98 Thanks for the support.

  • How could I not think of this for my sniper rifle!

  • no dislikes? Thats the SHWELL WAY!!!!!!

  • Helpful video! I'm planning on doing a simple black paint job to get rid of the clear plastic that is on the gun. But perhaps eventually I will add camo to it! You my good sir just earned yourself a thumbs up!

  • Thumbs up for master chief helmet on the shelf!

  • OMG! Amazing! :O how long will the paint job last??

  • Quick question. Since I am a noob and I don't know how to take apart my gun would it be ok if I just taped the vitals? It's a Well R8 G3 and I'm still learning about internals so I don't want to take it apart and not be able to put it together again haha. Btw awesome vid

  • @WARPANZER13 You can easily paint it without taking it apart. Juat tape up theopenings. Barrel. Trigger. Stuff that you don't want paint on.

  • I want, to do this to my g&g combat machine m4 not the raider, non blowback, what should i do to seal it up, would duct tape on the mag well be enough?

  • f@ramandhi987 the best thing to do is tape every opening you find. And anything you don't wat painted. I ualsually disassemble my guns for painting, it is thebest way to eliminate painting what you don't want painted.

  • Beautiful.

  • @Dracado Thank you for the feedback.

  • @SHWELL11 You're welcome. Hey by the way I have all of the colors in this video except the olive drab color. Would it look weird without that color?

  • @Dracado not at all. you can get away with using only 2 colors.

  • @SHWELL11 Shwell, Thanks so much for making this video I just found a extremely easy way to paint my airsoft gun! My m14 is all black like your SCAR so I am doing a tan camo similiar to yours.

  • @SHWELL11 that good man hand up

  • THank you so much!! My GR15 XL is gonna look awesome now! Thank you Shwell!!!!

  • Wow dude, your great. Im now thinking about doing a little airsoft gun painting myself. thanks for the inspiration!

  • thank you so much. 5 stars. by far the easiest method of painting.

What paint do u use exactly because the paint i use doesnt stick to other paint for some reason it peels any ideas?

  • @plowvillephillies I have used all types of paints, but I use Krylon Camo paints. They get used more than any other type of paint. If you search your local walmart or Home improvement store they will prob have it. I believe I mention it briefly in the vid. Krylon, or Rustoleum CAMO paints. Basically Ultra Flat Paint.

  • thanks shwell!and do you reapeat the process for the other side?and what are the ares that need to be taped?

  • This is the most easy, yet BEAUTIFUL camo painting technique I've seen! Thank you, and a very good job sir!

  • Hey Shwell- just wanted to say thanks for this video- I thought this was so great I painted my SR10 and it turned out awesome! Hopefully I'll get a chance to show you at the next event.-Heater

  • @darkhammockturtles Glad to inspire.

  • im gonna do this when i get my new echo 1. very nice job!!

  • Couldn't that mess with the gun internaly?

  • @xXBrandon1120 Only if you get paint inside the gun. When painting the base color, you should protect all the vital areas and prevent paint from reacing areas that might cause problems. but the sponging portion will not cause any problems.

  • Wow That came out Hot! Nice job Shwell!

  • Hey man did you keep the hop up closed on your G&G GR15 Blowback because I don't want to ruin it!

  • @TheTechnoBrain Actually for most guns, I take them a part when painting them. I always ensure to tape or remove th parts that need to be protected.

  • THATS NICE!

  • Your gun turned out great man

  • looks really cool thank you for making this video

  • ca you paint your gun even if its full metal???

  • @OrganizationLOL yes you can. Your Prep work will determine how durable it is.

  • I see that there is a patch of rough material on the ICS body and stock., How could i do that?

  • @tankerkk It is an item called Grip Tape. I got it from Home Depot in the paint section. It is used on Steps.... Be warned, the stuff is ROUGH, it will scratch skin.

  • @SHWELL11 Thanks for the help schwell. Is it an advantage to use, does it help?

  • @tankerkk It just offers better grip, especially when your hands are sweaty or your gloves are wet.

  • @shwell11 I've been trying to get ideas for my AUG, and I wanted to take the time to comment, so that I could tell you that you created a wonderful piece of work. This is a beautiful technique, and I thank you very much for showing us. I'm subscribing because of this video.

  • Hey man that paintjob looks boss awesome job

  • @airsoft787 Thank you.

  • I know if I take apart my gun the warranty will be messed up, so when you paint, do you just tape over some parts? I know the barrel definitely and where the mag goes, but are these the only two crucial places to tape off? Thanks I have a jg m4 with the battery in the foregrip.

  • @xXBorn2golfXx Warranty on AEG's is usually only 30 at most. But when taping off a gun, any area that give access to the inside of the gun, should be taped. The Barrel, the Magwell, the trigger, and any other area you do ot want to paint, or want paint to get to.

  • Thanks for the video I've been needing to repaint my TM G-spec. I'm also an airsoft player in Florida, In just happen to live near Tampa. =/

  • so you get that great of a picture from a flip? If you dont mind can you tell me the model you have because I think it has a great picture, its small and would be great to use in games to record. Also best buy near me is having a sale on them so just if you can. Thanks! Also, great vids. Keep up the good work!

  • @chefboyardee54 Thanks for watching. Yes, my vids are recorded primarily on my FLip HD... It is the 2 hour HD version.. Just a heads up, they have released a new version with inage stabilization, if you can get that one with HD and 2 hour record time, I would suggest that.. I hope this helps.

  • @SHWELL11 thanks just was thinkin might ask for it for christmas. I mainly want to use one to record games so im gonna try one of thse poseabletripods and wrap it around the m4 buffer tube and secure to make sure it wont move and take it from there. Yes i also found out that the 4gig version is only 30fps and the 8gig is 60fps. Big difference for recording motion. thanks for responding too.

  • @chefboyardee54 I have one of those posable tripod trhingy's and I dont thik it will get the job done on your gun. It is quite bulky, and the weight of the cam will prob make it fall off once you start moving.. I made my own gun mount for the cam, there are vids on it on my page.. But there is also the UltraPod 1 or 2.. It is perfect for mounting on the gun.. This is also in one of my G&G Raider XL Vids. Good luck.

  • i like the ICS body. it looks like the X-camo
