these parachutes have around 70-90 square feet (and as the name shows vx39 has 39)

that's why you come down so fast so you could stay couple feet above the ground for so long.

how do you come down so fast and then just hover a couple inches off the ground for 20 yards? is it a trick or a technique?

its ground effect and theyve built up speed to flare out.some of them dive in and skim at 80mph or so
