What part makes the raspy scream sound. Is it just the force of the exhale or shape of throat? I know not to use my vocals chords but I dont know where to get the sound.
Just to be sure I'm doing it right, do I make the "raspy" scream part from the throat or just by forcing air from my stomach? I don't wanna screw up my voice?
@flotch93 from stomach to get a powerful scream, start doing it with low/mid screams and see if you can get a good sound, and just practice the shit out of that. You'll probably end up making your throat pretty sore but keep hydrated and give yourself a break when you can't talk anymore! the more you do it, the longer you'll be able to scream without it fucking up your voice haha
Im new to screaming, and find that I can scream for about 10 minutes, but then my throat gets sore... I have no pain up to that point, so Im not quite sure what the problem is, any suggestions?

A good way to work on getting lows is sort of "swallowing" your scream. This lowers the position of your larynx allowing for lower notes. Also make sure you're exhaling slowly as it slows the vibration of your vocal cords allowing for lower notes.
Highs on the other hand - start screaming like normal and move your mouth to a smiling position. Exhale faster hair and make more of an "eee" sound than a "oh" sound.
Just some stuff that I have learned in my three years of screaming, hope it helps! :)
I really like the video and it does help, but I do have a few questions. I have been screaming for about a year and a half now, and I have my lows as perfect as they'll get. I can False Chord and Vocal fry, but I can't get my screams high enough. If anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated. And if you need it I can try to get a video of my screaming up.
@Assassin1nBlack yep i found highs harder to get (then i was working on them for ages and couldnt do lows as well so had to re-teach myself haha) what I do is kind of smile when I do it and that brings the pitch up to a higher scream... so try that :) it took me a while so don't lose hope haha
@T00c00L998 I had the same problem for a while (early demo stuff my lows weren't that good, for the new CD they're sounding sweeettttt) my advice would be to avoid forcing yourself to do lows, and just work on the lows that are comfortable for you. then by changing the shape of your mouth etc, you can work on getting different sounds, and gradually improve your low notes and you can keep going lower. I might do another technique vid soon to help
Hi mate :) I'm a recent subscriber and I love your work. I have been screaming for about 6 months, I have pretty much mastered my growls/lows and I'm working on my highs. What I need to know is, how do you scream for longer with one breath like when I scream a line thats long i cant continue it. so i would really appreciate a reply or a video response cheers :) x

It's a mixture of lung capacity and breath control - as you practice more you're able to scream without pushing as much air out, and increasing your lung capacity is possible too. breathe with your diaphragm, as it allows you more control and a greater amount of air taken in. Then just practice :D It's a gradual change and you won't see the effects for a while, but keep practicing breathing the right way and trying to do longer and longer screams and you'll be right!
@AGEproductionsLTD breathe a full breath in with your diaphragm, then try and hum a note for as long as possible, time it, try and improve. and when you do, tense up your ab and lower back muscles which will help you to control your diaphragm :)

I'm a smoker and I can belt out lines that last about 10-15 seconds without losing my breathe. cheers mate!
Kinda embarrassing for me to ask ( haters fuck off don't have times for your shit I'm asking a question ) but yeah I scream and cover songs by bands like parkway asking Alexandrea and amity like the deep kinda vocals with some high ones but when I don't use a mic my screams are real quiet what kinda techniques should I use to help get them louder?
@AMERIO17 don't be embarrassed, everyone has to start somewhere. I can't tell you something that will work 100% because I don't know how you're screaming, but practice the breathing stuff to give you more power from your breath, and yea just keep practicing is my best advice. You can only improve your technique the more you do it :)
