my eyes water everytime i listen to the vamp (the ending) of this song! the arrangements of rhythm, horn and string................INCREDIBLE! all the instruments are accenting each other in perfect harmony from the first note to the fade!
This is THE SHIT! FUCK..........YES.!!!.. EVERYBODY take is to the top..we gonna STOMP ....ALL NIGHT. Brings back memories, easier times, smoother, funkier grooves...what happened to this kind of music? /Someone PLEASE bring back this kind of music, we need it, we know there are some young musicians out there..who can do it. Do it.
my next all time fav love hereing this song in my garbage truck ''STOMP'' cant beat the classics all the music from the Brothers Johnson kick ass rock on 70s music!
@musicmanstingray1234 You dont have to BLACK to play the Bass..just practice put some time into it about a half hour a day you will see results in a few months..trust me on this. 'mI a black Guy LOL.
@frogeyeful That's like saying.. pick up a basketball and shoot around a few months and see how good you'll get. No dice! some guys are naturally better at certain things than others. Blacks tend to be naturally great bass players. :)
tema uhm re buenomuy bueno si abre bailadoesta musica disco de aquellos años es y sera siempre bello siempre hay un clasico para revivir esas tiempos que nunca van a pasar de moda eso si era musica y que musica
At the end of the night at Cream, Liverpool, UK many years ago, the lights came up in the main room and everyone thought it was time to go home... then the DJ dropped this. The normal fluorescent lights stayed on to create a bizarre scene as the whole place went off again. One of my best clubbing memories ever.
I love, love this song...Rollerskating to these great classics: "Stomp" "Groove Line" "Heaven Must Have Sent You" "Love On A Two Way street".....Those were the best of times.
@CubaNY71 I I forgot to mention that I rollerskated in Buffalo many times to this song & Funkmeister Rick James ...So sad that Teena Marie passed away Dec.26th..she was a protege of Rick James and became a great singer in her own right !
Great song to DANCE or ROLLERSKATE... this asian man( 54 yrs young now) from toronto, canada loves funk and let loose on a floor or rink in the 80's ...Rhythm & Music just put you in a zone & people stared..What fun there was to be had in these venues !
@dancerdonald1 Tell me about it, we use jam to this song back in the roller rink days in Brooklyn,NY. Love this song, brings back good memories. Funk baby Funk!!!
@Verizon.net Tell me about it, we use jam to this song back in the roller rink days in Brooklyn,NY. Love this song, brings back good memories. Funk baby Funk!!!
for real. we used to practice our speed skating to this at the roller rink when this came on. man, did we have some serious fast times around that place and some intense wipe outs into the railings from going too fast around the corners and getting crowded in but it was a BLAST!!!!!!
back home during dabatingtime emeka iwe young igwe dan agwa sammy mendos emma ike R.I P . THIS IS THE MUSIC WE CALL THEM BEE JEES not bees gees BROTHERS JOHNSONS
I agree with jimhalen. We have a dee well of great musically talented ARTISTS, and we are subjected to this electro-technological synth, super-looped made in china garbage tailored to the 15 second ADHD attention span idoiots. We as a culture are in serious trouble.
"Stomp" was another fantastic track of Quincy Jones & Rod Temperton. I wished Michael stayed together with these two guys who made him famous. The productions & songs were great like Terry Jam's & Jimmy Lewis', Jacques Petrus & Malavasi and Bobby O productions. All these guys & other 70's & 80's wrote music history & gave us such great music!
Yeah . It's just one of those jazzed up jazzy riffs that no one can stake claim to.Thanks .I'm really into music & NEVER paid attention to how close these two songs are in the riff dept.Alms to your great ear. Get this? Both songs came out at the same time.
black music of today on the whole is utter crap. so many great musicians and yet we get bombarded with gangsta rap..i wish they would make real music again .
Why is it that the right handed player always looks like left hander to me .I always have to look twice..Boy this was about two steps away from being some rap.Especially w/ the chant at the end.sounds rap-ish.And I don't care who came out w/ rap 1st . Rap was bound to come out .Sooner or LATER.I'm just saying........
I feel like I was baptized into the Disco Era... Having been born in 1977, I think I absorbed a lot of the fun, funky sounds I heard in my formative ears. That's my explanation for why I just can't get enough of this music to this day! :)
You're not the only one. I was born in the same year, and I still rock out with the funk and disco era music. It may be a disease, but it's undocumented, so I'm okay with it.
