@THSurvivalGear orange roe? Do you mean fish eggs? heh...I have a list of sushi recipes to make later. I'm not going to make raw sushi...since I don't like eating raw fish. >_<
@MikisPantry Oh yeah, you won't be getting any requests for Sashimi from ME hahaah... i don't do raw anything unless its fruit and vegetables. Yeah, I meant masago or tobiko (fish eggs) on the outside of the California roll... I've had it both ways and I LOOOOVE it with the masago.
i used to live in pennsylvania and when i went to wegmans, i used to get the spicy shrimp sushi and i loved it! it was kinda expensive, so i practiced many times to make different kinds.. i finally mastered it after coming to florida.. (just this last october) i made today for the 2nd time since i have been here, (atleast the regular kind.. still have to work on the rice outside as you have done above.. great work by the way!! :3) my fave happens to be cheese, avocado, tuna and cucumber ^ v ^
@FiredEmpire whenever I speak Japanese to Japanese people I meet, they are always like..."aw....kawaii ne?" and say, "you are very good in Japanese". LOL! I don't think I'm good though. Any who, have a nice weekend! :D

Good idea using brown rice. Never thought of that and never thought it would turn out right. And actually i was just thinking of how to use healthier grains in normal cooking, eg. making congee with brown rice, barley or quinoa. Have to say i hate raw carrot in sushi. XD
@theuglykwan I used to wrap plastic wrap over a wooden sushi mat and the rice didn't stick. Now that I have a plastic sushi mat, it is A LOT better! :D I bought my plastic sushi mat on ebay.
Spicy tuna crispy roll ( I could not remember the japanese name,)
also rolled inside out like this, but filled with tuna, avocado and chinese mayo. at the outside after rolling, you roll it in deepfried rice( crispy) and on top some powdered red dried chili.
California roll is my favorite..I wonder do you put anything in your rice. Or eel sushi. I usually have it once a month..you put poppy seeds does toasted sesame seeds work also.
@JamConcerned Cooking rice with stuff in it is awesome! I hardly do it though because it's not something that always cross my mind. Good reminder and suggestion! :D
@MikisPantry No I meant that once the rice is cooked. I was looking at a recipe for making rolls. After the rice was cooked they added vinegar mixture to the white rice then the spread it out wanted to know do you do this same.
@JamConcerned oh, okay. :] My family used to cook meat with the rice together and that tasted good! After the rice is done, sometimes, people use vinegar to toss in the rice to make sushi rice, but I don't like the smell of vinegar. I usually omit that and just cook my rice more moist by adding more water to it when I cook.
WOW! I was gonna ask you to do some sushi recipes but you've already done it! I love the California roll with the orange roe over the outside!

@theuglykwan Hehe...I wouldn't flip the nori sheet over again though. The brown rice grains separated more when I did that. >_<
MikisPantry 1 month ago
@MikisPantry Did you try the usual trick with plastic wrap when you flip it or does it make the grains stick to the wrap?
