Glimmer Mist Dupe

I've been planning on making some of these... Do you ever have trouble with the little bottles not sealing well enough to keep the alcohol from drying out? I have bottles from the 99cent bin in the HBA section at WM and wasn't sure if they would seal well enough.

Thanks for sharing, I've tried the glitter paint before and the first few times it was ok but the big chunks of glitter clogged my sprayer. I'm going with the metallic from now on :0)

@designzbydebbz Yes, you're right. The glitter paint can definitely clog your sprayer and come out chunky. Metallic paint is the way to go! TFW!

try using rubbing alcohol instead of water, it drys faster and does not wrinkle the paper.

@ningram4 I have changed my glimmer mist dupe formula. I changed the water to rubbing alcohol a few months ago and I love it! It all dries super fast and doesn't warp paper like water does. Thanks for the suggestion though ;)

Thank you SO MUCH! I only have one Tattered Angels glimmer mist because they are kind of pricey. THIS is going to be such a great, cheap alternative, I'll be able to make so many. YESSSS!!! Plus the paint I could use a coupon at Michael's and get it dirt cheap. I'm so excited, thank you!

@OneHappyCraftyChick You're sooo welcome! This option is great because out of one bottle of paint, you can create 5-7 bottles of shimmer sprays. Of course, it all depends on how much paint you add to each one. Plus, the paint often goes on sale...BONUS! Thanks for watching!

I bought my bottles at my local dollar store. Most dollar will carry these types of bottles. If you can't find any, you can surely find them online. i hope this helps!

Love this idea, I'm gonna try it. Just curious though, why do you need the glue? Is there a problem with it binding?

I added the glue as a precaution. I didn't know if the metallic paint would flake or rub off. It didn't either way. But this glimmer/shimmer spray works like a dream. I've even mixed colours (in the bottles) and made different shades. Thanks a bunch!

:-) I GOTTA say-- you were so great with the coordination there- using only ONE hand pouring all that!! Man, I would have had such a mess on my hands! Great job, though...I, too, have made my own, and although I love the real Glimmer Mists, I find that mine has a lot more actual shimmer sometimes! (But I still do buy the occasional true version. Great video!

Wow...that's so exciting! I only have 1 bottle of the real Shimmer Mist because it's so expensive. I would buy more if Michael's or Joann's carried it..then I could use a coupon. I'm running out to buy some Folk Art metallic paint & give this a try! My favs are your gold & peridot versions! Thanks so much for sharing your amazing discovery!!
