  • I've had palpitations and (svt) since I was 6, I'm now 26. Just had a laproscopy, they did an ecg before op and thought twas a bit strange looking. Turns out I've had wolff parkinson white and they only have just diagnosed it. So now finally I can seek the right treatment and get on with my life.

  • What was the procedure like? painfull? scarey? what type of sedation? thanks....I have wpw and I am thinking about getting the procedure done

  • @LINCOLNREALESTATE1 don't think do it because i have WPW and had one surgery done few days ago and you feel nothing but my next surgery this time there cutting me open they got 3 bolts fix but they can't not find the 4th bolt so witch means they got to cut me open and look on the left side of heart and bern it off so get it done.

  • Did anybody have chest pains and tightness days after the ablation?

  • I'm having this procedure done Wednesday and your comments are very encouraging!!

  • @Maarkeeta44

    I wish you well :)

  • @freshfromgarden I was diagnosed with WPW syndrome in 1980 when I was 16 - I was on betablockers for 24 years and had an ablation in 2004 and have had no problems since - I'm sure you'll be fine

  • I had that...I had surgery when I was 8 1/2 mo. Old and then in 2006 I had an ablation to stop my fast heart beat !!!

  • My dads getting that done now and I'm scared.:(

  • @StarInsideOfYou i had the same surgery when i was 13 he should be fine

  • Had WPW for quite a while now (diagnosed at 13, age 21 now). Best tip I can give to anyone else with it is to learn breathing/meditation exercises. I may still get tachycardia every few weeks, but at least now I can slow it or sometimes stop it before the rhythm gets worse. Other than that, just get to know your doctor, being able to trust them may save your life.

  • I had that surgery 4 years ago I'm perfectly fine now!! I was 25 then now I'm 29.

  • Hello my son got diagnosted with wpw when he was 1 month old they told me if I wouldn't of took him in the hospital he woudnt of made it I was so scared that day he didn't sleep alnight he didn't want to take his bottle all night he was fuzzy I thought he had gassy stomach so in the morning I took him to the hospital they rush him in he was on meds for about the first year of his life doctors said he out grew it...but I want to know what causes this an why would he ever get it back..

  • i got wpw when i was 7 and i had an ablation when i was 14!my highest ever svt was 300BPM so i understand what ye all went through!i'm 24 now but i'm beginning to feel palpitations and dizzyness again.doctors said i would have 10 years without it and they were right.best 10 years of my life:)

  • My heart should be totally normal (or it might have a slight tachycardia during excercise, this is normal)

  • My dad died from this.

  • im 12 ive had it for a while

  • @BlackNinjaTaco1 Me too!

  • Yeah i have WPW too. I finished grade 12 and had a physical for my electrical traineeship. Came back with a dodgy ECG/EKG. Getting my ablation 3rd or 4th month 2011!

  • i waqs first diagnosed at 21 years old it took till i was 23 to get the ablation. it was really bad for me i collapsed regularley and woke up in hospital mony times very scared of what was happening. im 25 now and probably the best ive ever been i know how scary this is for you and i can tell you it does get better. we are all aware on here of the significant dangers that it could of caused and how lucky we all are to have been treated so froom the bottom of my heart good luck

  • @mrfrankie85 do you mind inboxing me some information about the procedure.. im 16 and got diagnosed when i was 10.

  • I was diagnosed with WPW when I was about 10 years old, back around 1993 or so. In 2001 I had an ablation done, and I haven't had a single SVT episode since then. I was effectively cured of the WPW. Do keep up with your cardiologist visits though, my cardiologist told me that people who have WPW also have a higher risk of other heart problems, especially other arrhythmias. I know exactly what you went through, it's scary. Good that you got it figured out and fixed right away.

  • hey,

I had it when I was 6 years old, now I'm 16 and I don't have it anymore.. i had an "Katheder" (I don't know the word in english) -operation when I was 9. My big sister got it when she was 17. Now we are both fine - and i'm really happy about it..

  • Iam 15 and I have it around 4 years

  • Hey, just dont be scared if you have WPW...

I had also and i had an ablation done and now im 100% fine the doctors say.

Dont be scared of having the ablation done...you will get rid of that fear and stress of bad palpitations.

  • I just went through this procedure funniily enough on tuesday afternoon... I also asmitted myself to the hospital on a saturday... funny how simliear our stories.. for those of you watching and readinng... this turned out just fine. I'm in bed after 5 day... I've got a little over a week left to go..

  • Hey I was just diagnosed with WPW, although im having more test tomorrow such as the echo and 48hr holter. I've never had heart problems or anything like that and i'm only 21!

  • now i am so scared that i am going to get this. :(

  • I've got WPW and I'm 12 years old =S

  • Yeah, if the pathway is in a awkward place they won't even attempt to do it though.

  • So just had mine today, if you are nervous, don't be its not that scary once you get some drugs. Mine was in a weird place so was hard to find, and means theres only a 85% success rate, but fingers crossed. A little bit tender around the groin, but the benefit definately outweighs the risks.

  • I went to the hospital today for all the pre opp admin stuff and going back in three days to have the ablation surgery. Kind of nervous but really looking forward to having it fixed and not having to worry about it anymore.

  • @Ssssimon1 thats good, I know how you feel, i went for a radio frequency ablation 6 years ago, nerve racking but worth it because there are no more episodes!!

  • how long is the recovery after the operation.

  • @64punk I was in the recovery for a couple hours in the afternoon and they let me go that evening, the next day i was out jogging.

  • @Estatic9, its free in Canada. :P

  • @0ddzZz yea i got mine in London ON. Those guys are miracle workers!!!!

  • I just got out of the hospital, cause I had another episode. I am seriously thinking about having the ablation in a few weeks.

  • @maria39208 yea do it!!! you are virtually cured if you do!!!!

  • I have it too!im only 19. How much does the procedure cost?

  • @Estatic9 I don't know.

  • I have it too, & they want me to have the ablation. But I am scared...

  • @maria39208 My mother died of this disease. The doctors told her the ablation wasnt neccesary, she died some months later. If the doctors wnat u to get it, get it. Coz death from this disease is sudden, u wont be able to stop it

  • @maria39208 lol posting on everything, have it!! you will be thankful!!!!

  • Thanks for the Video. I am a paramedic student and it really helped to further my understanding of your condition. I hope your doing well and pray that you don't have a relapse of any kind.

  • freshfromgarden, Thanks for sharing your story wich is very much like mine. I had a lot of issues for many years, but it was only taken serious when one day, I woke up 5 a clock in the morning went to the hospital with no blood presure and a pulse at 230.....I was very ill, but at last they got it under control and after 4 days I was sent home with medicin. 6 month later I had an ablation, burning twice.

  • I find most people suffer for a long time when they have WPW. I began having problems at around age 13 and suffered daily with it until 18 when I finally had the ablation surgery. I actually had two extra nodes in the problem area not one so it was causing all kinds of craziness. Not the most fun surgery if you have the groin entry version but definately worth it because after its done your completely fine!

  • @BTownMiss Is the ablation scary? Or a life threatening procedure?

  • @maria39208 kind of scary, but like with any kind of surgery there is always a risk involved, but they said the percentage is very small for something to go wrong.

  • I had WPW too. Suffered for years with it! Had the ablation surgery in 2000. Never had an issue again!!

  • i got the same thing..

  • I have this condition too, it goes over 200 but not as bad I guess, I can sit somewhere and rest and it becomes fine.

  • i to has wpw syndrome i had a ablation surgery in dec of 06' and now im gonna have to have another one aug 10, 2009!! it's really scary to have to go through it again after i thought it was over and the sad part is they dont know wich pathway its coming from.

  • Hi Karesha,

I just had ablation in Liverpool yeaterday (16/10/09) for WPW and I feel fine now. I hope yours was sorted for good this time.

  • Your voice sounds kind of unusual.

  • @incredibleman123 I would be afraid too.....
