Vet gevonden!!! Een sdkfz 7 die een 150mm howitzer trok, althans dat nemen we aan. Opmerkelijk dat deze niet is doorgeroest terwijl de hulzen redelijk zijn aangevreten.

Ook hier maar niet juichen in die bossen ;-)

Wait, I got it -- remnants of the first-line repair depot for a field artillery brigade? They would have been able to do little else than swap out field-replaceable units, like radiators, tracks, (and yes, even tank road wheels, given a big rock to use as a fulcrum, a long beam, and eight of ten gefreiters to work it). Ammo was sometimes off-loaded from vehicles under repair for safety, hence the propellant cases. Position was in danger of being overrun, so they ditched it all. Plausible?

Who the hell would bury all that stuff together? The unprotected generator would be junk in a week. Must have been a trench that got filled in by bombing. It's not a retreat cache -- even if the Germans retook the area, no sense in retrieving the nose of a prime mover. Maybe it was used as a still (not unheard-of in armies of the period). Also, dudes, those "cartridge cases" are full of BY-NOW REALLY UNSTABLE EXPLOSIVES ! Three fewer Dutch Guys if you press your luck too far!

I like how you match the parts to old photos. I wouldn't have known what vehicle that radiator came off of. As to the live ammo comments on here. I am at a loss as too why these things were buried in the first place. Would'nt it been easier to destroy it, rather than bury it??. Were these existing foxholes used to bury these things? Can somebody explain it??.

This is really very very stupid. All it takes is to find unstable live ordance and all of you will either be dead or seriously injured. Once upon a time a friend of mine was playing with 20mm german shells, the whole mess went off and he lost most of one ear.

@fairvoice You are saying it yourself; the guy was ‘playing’ with live ammo, which is really stupid. We leave all the ammo in the woods, and with larger explosives we make GPS coordinates and send them to the disposal unit.

Curious to know why or how some of your finds are so deep in the ground? Is it assumed that they were once dug in fighting positions and were later filled in or in 70 years is this how much the earth covered it over? Also, how many times have you found bodies that you could turn over for identification?

Hye man, tja het blijft toch wel hard werken en mazzel hebben, Ik ben bezig met een filmpje met wat vondsten van tijdens de winter. De grond is toch wel lang hard geweest door de vorst dus niet heel veel gezocht. Jij nog wat leuks opgescharreld? groeten

ja met de winter heb ik alleen een beetje gezocht bij fort eben emael en langs de rijn heb tog wat mooi mooie vondsten bij fort eben emael heb ik 7 mg34/42 kogels gevonden onafgeschoten een duitse mortier granaat een deel er van en een stuk van een m38 Fallschirmjgaer helm want eben emael is dor de paratroepers ingenomen en langs de rijn gewoon wat hulzen en een k89 en volgend weekend ga ik na la roche in de ardennen ik ga daar ook zoeken ik zie wel wanneer het filmpie klaar is
