I am completely mesmerized. I love the generations singing. As much as I have read in the posts here, this is not at all, all about John, though wonderful he, indeed, is. The more I listen, the more I hear each singer’s character entering and leaving and entering again. The performance is not the typical showstopper. The audience does not go wild with approval. I think there is a reason why. Haunting.
John, Ruthie and Carol are sooo fantastic at LIFE! I want to be their friends, we could be singing partners :) This literally brings me to tears! :') xxxxxxxxxxxx
Check out Ernest Kohl's remix of this... that's why I found you via his dance track version.. it's quite clever. He's been doing this a long time and he's VERY broadway himself. Fun to hear variations on this.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! I love this song! Thank You John, Carol, Ruthie, Bronson and George! This song is so true of soooooo much of my life! Thank you so much for posting x x x
George Hern! Ruthie Henshall! John Barrowman! Carol Burnett! thats just an all star cast...love this, and Bronson shows so much emotions. he actually cries.
i think that more coz it's one off there last shows and the chance of them all performing together again is slim also only with a cast of 5 you make such i tight (what i call) theatre family

this song is amazing, were doing this version hopefully in a showcase at my theatre school where some agents are expected to come along and watch exciting stuff:D but this song i think was done in this version for the sake of putting it together getting the best of the biz:D
i love the song, but in the perspective of the play, i think the song is meant to be sung by bobby alone...i mean thats what the whole play is about, and it all builds to this one point for bobby, and i think you lose some depth of character if you share it with all these different characters
I understand and respect your opinion. In the context of a review (as opposed to a "Company") production, however, this version works for me. I find it quite moving.
It's not in Company in this version, Its from the Sondheim tribute "Putting it Together" so In the context of THAT storyline it does fit. I do agree that in Company it should be different though.
All the singers are great in this but i gotta say i have a soft spot for the amazing mr barrowman. His voice is spot on. Must be a talented fella to sing them long drawn out words in one breath. good control. Thanks for putting this on here.
LOL, I would be lying if i said that his beauty wasnt a factor! Yet even if he was butt ugly i'd still have said what i did. The fact is Barrowman is an amazing singer and, to me, he truely stands out in this performance.
Actually, while the song is from Company, this clip is from Putting it Together, a revue of Sondheim's work. This is one of my favorite arrangements of the song, though I prefer the performance on the Off-Broadway cast recording.
There's an off-b'way cast recording? I have the one with Raul Esparza, and I know there was an original with Elaine Stritch, but I had no clue there was another
This isn't Company. This is the Broadway cast of Putting it Together starring Carol Burnett. I prefer the performance of this song on the off-Broadway recording of Putting it Together starring Julie Andrews.
JB is brilliant in this. He's a fantastic singer. I love Ruthie too. She is so talented. John Barrowman and Ruthie Henshall are the best leading couple ever in the West End.
wow this took me forever to find out that this was a rewiew. for the longest time i thought it was company then questioned that when i saw they only had 2 girls
I didn't know John Barrowman and Bronson Pinchot could sing!!! What a great video... thanks so much for sharing this! :) (adding to my faves right now)
I rented this and watched this thinking it was going to be a pleasure ride. I was wrong. This show touched on many sad, hard truths about love relationships and it was hard to watch after awhile. This show is edgy and brilliant and really showcases Sondheim's remarkable songs.
