  • disagreements about us' role in the world embarking on meddling with internal affairs as largely beneficial and produce only occasionally missteps... world demographics and cultural differences ultimately dictate whether an arbitrary division of land and government can be successful, and much of this was dictated by the us after the second world war, and then their meddling with korea and vietnam in the 60s.. these all spelled prolonged conflicts and i would hardly call them beneficial.

  • Daniel Hannan you media whore didn't you say you like Ron Paul not Obama?

  • @lewcy1 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.

  • I don't agree that 'closed primaries' means that the party leaders choose the candidates. And that is not so for all of europe. In iceland, where I am from, anyone can join any or all parties and vote in all the party primaries. People often register in the parties before the primaries just to vote for some candidate they like. Other than that, a good interview, and Hannan is a good friend of iceland and has been warning icelanders not to join the EU. I met him once and talked to him briefly.

  • This man and Ron Paul give me hope for the future. Sadly, we're still in a time where people are falling for politicians that don't have America's best interests in mind. However, it's the young generation standing up and fighting a system that has grown too large and must be brought back to the people. I have faith that the "debt generation" will actually do some amazing things in their lives, but it'll be a tough and relentless battle. Remember, government is not the solution. Peace & love.

  • This media whore that loves touring America like a celebrity, airing British dirty laundry, that loves the sound of his own voice really bothers me. He spends a lot of his 'warning America'. ARE YOU AN AMERICAN CONGRESSMAN OR A BRITISH MEP you incredibly annoying creature!

  • The like to dislike ratio says it all. Daniel Hannan makes me want to move to Britain.

  • Daniel Hannan hasn't looked deep enough in how proportional representation countries work. For instance, contrary to his claims one can run as an independent candidate in the Dutch elections (from local to European Parliament). Whistleblower Paul van Buitenen brought down the Santer EU Commission on anti-corruption claims and then won a seat in 2004 with his party Europa Transparant spending not more than €4000 on his campaign. [Off course he had won fame with his act as whistleblower].

  • EU is a 100 year out of date anachronism formed in the wake of WW2 which was itself only an aftershock of WW1 caused by maniacs in power as a result of WW1 and Depression.I would argue that by 1945 under NATO and USA umbrella much of the raison d'etre of 'ever closer union' was defunct as a Communist principle, as Communism itself had proven to be hollow by then.Free trade element of the EEC was a fine principle.'Ever Closer Union' was the aim which dared not speak its name until Maastrict

  • I admire his calm, control of temper despite revolting facts he presents, I enjoy his diction, and the way he picks words, I admire his wit in his argumentation, and foremost I admire his great understanding of picking the right tone of speech depending on who you address. Obviously you may relate to the way of thinking of Nigel Farage or Goeffrey Bloom, but both of the gentlemen will be treated seriously anytime soon and that it just the outcome of speaking with an aggressiv and ridiculing tone

  • Does he have to pick up the book every time he asks a question?

  • @ctb619 People go on the show to sell their material. Because he pushes the sales it encourages people to buy it and get educated. When authors sell more books because of being on his show he gets more of the top speakers on and we get the benefit of a great show and education! Win Win Win!

  • 00:26

  • I welcome him to become an American. Along with every other person on this earth. Just come on over. Quit standing over there POUTing like an English baby. Just be a man and come over here with your kids. Quit your crying. Move your butt over here right now. Or are you afraid. What are you afraid of you big pussy.

  • @milestracy Why would he want to? He's just been pretty clear that we're on our way to what he's dealing with at home! He's busy trying to make his own country more like ours, and warning us to fight to move back toward what we had!

  • English are idiots. Danniel Han on. A good example of why everyone on the earth hates the English. They are just full of themselves. We Americans prefer to align ourselves with the French revolution. English never had anything to offer.

  • At the beginning he said that he didn't like the political party choosing leaders and not allowing people to choose their leaders. HYPOCRITE? Yes. IDIOT! Yes.

  • If he claims to be educated why didn't he know about Ron Paul? Shame Shame. Tootin his own uneducated horn.

  • It's the Eural Theatre?

  • Quite disappointed by this interview. I've discovered Daniel recently and started to watch his videos on youtube and how he brings a lot of sanity to the european parliament. Unfortunately, he fails he fails short in understanding:

    - the destructive nature of big corporations

    - the benefit people have enjoyed in emancipating from religion and developing their critical thinking

    - the importance of universal health care principle: you pay according to your means and receive according to you needs

  • @Makaya1984 I agree with some of what you say, but I'm curious about what happens when the overall means aren't enough to provide for the overall needs?

  • leftist policies??? LoL apart from clinton and now obama i cant think of another democrat going back as far as i remember to regan and our black hearted bitch thatcher.America is the most right wing scumbag place on the planet

  • 93% of the UK rate the NHS as good or exellent. No for profit insurance company can even come close to that level of customer satisfaction.

    This is 100% horseshit.

There is no such thing as a " Free Market " solution to health care.

  • @MsZeitgeist85

What a load of crap! If you approve of the NHS it's because you've never been ill!

  • @MsZeitgeist85 because that's of ignorance, most Brits have never experienced Healthcare outside the UK and never stepped foot in a hospital in another Country. NHS is a disaster and bankrupt and the British Govt is cutting billions of pounds out of it and cutting basic services, plenty of news reports of bodies being piled on the floors of hospitals because of lack of beds and lack of Nurses due to govt bureaucracy. Free market healthcare is a consumer cash based system like purchase electron

  • @dolphinsattack Good comments (i'm from the UK) I would not go near an NHS hospital. More likely to come out with a disease worse than when you went in. It can be up to 18months waiting lists for surgeries and treatments. The are the most miserable places in the country and it costs an average of £2k per person per year for all 65m people. Private health insurance would give great service and cost about £500 pp p/a. And it is bankrupting the country!!!!

  • @MsZeitgeist85 You live in the U.S. and never experienced healthcare in another Country, you're another 'Youth Movement" American sort of like the spoiled lazy Wallstreet Protestors who never been to Europe but think we need to bring their failed policies here as the EU is falling apart with debt and Germany is demanding many EU Nations privatize it's industry and healthcare systems and have pension reforms that make Wisconsin's reforms look Liberal, my adviceis is to get a passport travel.

  • The problem with this video is Daniel Hannan is too smart for most on the left to understand. Notice the "kings English he uses... most on the left would be thumbing through their dictionary trying to determine what he is saying. The way he pronounces things which is probably more correct than the way we do here in the US may confuse the left. He is truly a brilliant man, full of knowledge about history, economics.... A crying shame we do not have someone like him to run against Obama.

  • :-( Tomorrow i have to go listen to my commie soc teacher propound that socialism is the answer--pray for me Mr.Hannan.

  • Stop blaiming bankers, they're just looking out for their interests like anyone else would. The problem aren't even the politicians, the real problem are ECONOMISTS like Shitlitz that constantly defend the bail outs as a tool for economic stability. The politicans have no choice but to listen to their advice since they're the "experts".

And these economists are motivated by their own little fanatic beliefs, not by money.

The real enemy isn't corruption, it's ideological statism.

  • You cant have a small government and also an interventionist foreign policy. 'Bite the hand that freed them' my ass.

  • I suppose all conservatives see war as essential. Otherwise, Hannan is dead on.

  • "There was always going to be a reckoning, and I'm afraid that reckoning is now."

It's amazing how many of us have been warning, and how many are now noticing this. And yet the left buries their head in fantasy, and cannot see the rot and decline for what it is: a logical result of decades of leftist policies.

  • Hannan has an unenlightened view of the American electoral process. It's bought and sold by huge corporate interests, the individual voter is mislead into thinking he has a real choice.

  • @pretorious700 Because compared to the other democratic processes, we have more of a choice. But not much.

  • @pretorious700

Here what Rensune said, everything is relative.

  • Dude has massive quote knowledge...obviously very well read.

  • One of the best, most sincere and honest Obama critics I have ever heared

...and no, you US ppl can't have him, we need that guy in Europe..

  • @HerMeggido And it is our great loss. He is absolutely wonderful. He loves his homeland but has an eye towards would is truly good for man.

  • Watch as plutocratic moral failure happens before your very eyes.

  • My only criticism of Hannan is that he didn't see right through Obama. I knew he was a fake when he was oversold by the left, as some kind of leader who would bring us all together. Obama has done exactly the opposite. His AG is racist. He whines and growls when he isn't bowed to by the opposition. And... he's bitching because he expected some sort of whizbang PHONE. He's all for Obama you can rest assured. He hates the US.

  • MUST SHARE this. Facebook, check. Myspace, check. Other social networks, check, check, and check. Hannan knows more about what it means to be American than the 52% of Americans in 2008. I feel very very sad, very sad indeed for the 52%.

  • Why can't we have conservative candidates who are as articulate as this guy.

  • The Conservative Party is NOT the same as the Republican Party of the US – Daniel is wrong!!

  • He was born and grew up in Peru to multi millionaire ultra far right wing parents. Given the most expensive tuition and private education money can buy. Never unless he needs emergency aid in the UK use the NHS. Now lives in Spain, never had to work for his vast wealth unless its self promotion to further his own self interests and political agenda the leader of the British Conservative party had every right to "slap him down".

  • Daniel Hannan isn’t a proper political figure, he’s a MEP and that means they are failed national political party member, MEPs are also bought off like the American politicians - I would stone him first if he ever tried to run as a Tory MP for Wandsworth. I might be a Tory supporter but I believe in keeping our NHS, it’s our right as is the right to vote, access to an education & access to a state pension. Daniel Hannan is on the EU gravy train, with the other slimy scum of Europe.

  • @TheFireHorseUK And if we had a longer discussion we'd find you actually have many other socialist programs you to which you feel you have a right. You begin you diatribe with bashing the messenger and not arguing his position with a solid counter-position.

  • @TheFireHorseUK

"I believe in keeping our NHS, it’s our right as is the right to vote"

I am not sure you actually understand what rights are. Your 'right' to the NHS means that others have to hand over money at the point of a government gun to give it to you. That is not a right, it is a privilege. Real rights are limits imposed on the state by the people. Not the other way around.

  • To the commenters below (some of them anyway):

DANIEL HANNAN IS NOT FOR SALE :-)

  • @ampersandtay Aw, c'mon... We'll pay in cookies! :D

  • Liberty, and a perpetual state of war, are incompatible. The belligerent foreign policies of the US are unsustainable. The current ideology governing policy in Washington is 180 degrees from the principles of its founding.

"[America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy." - John Quincy Adams

My policy has been...to be upon friendly terms with, but independent of, all the nations of the earth." - George Washington.

  • The two major parties US candidates are OWNED by the gangster banksters, Goldman Sachs pay off both sides. Our main stream media are all propaganda tools we go on line to get what is REALLY going on in the world. The gangster banksters control the world through their Fractional Reserve Banking Scam. Read "I was an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins. The Tea Party was a Ron Paul grassroots gathering then the NEOCONS infiltrated it and has tried to control it. Check out RON PAUL on Youtube.

  • @Quiltingsando

  • I wish we could have Hannan for president here in the states. We need a young, articulate liberty candidate.

  • Daniel is an outstanding chap.No wonder he's been shuttled into the european parliament because the rest of those so called politicians are shit scared of him for telling the truth and the real situation .This guy is our future prime minister, saviour of our country and it's culture. To put an outspoken chap in the eu parliament is an easy place where your voice and opinions are dilluted and dampened and never reported to the masses.Your damn right daniel the eu is nothing but the soviet union

  • 1. It's quite amazing that Hannan never mentions a certain tribe (those whose name cannot be mentioned) that has repeatedly, and explicitly declared its intention to destroy Western civilization. Nor, obviously, has he made any reference to the fact that very same tribe is in, or controls, most key positions in our Western countries - finance, media, entertainment, politics, feminism, art, immigration ... you name it.

    2. What! Rush Limbaugh and Fox news as alternative news sources? Huh?

  • @Matthysable About "1." ... are you seriously being anti-semitic right now? Isreal, and Jews in both Europe and North America, are PART of Western Civilization, you fool. Not to mention completely non-hostile toward western thinking, philosophy, and ideals. Mainly, because, you know, Judeo-Christian thought kinda ultimately CAME FROM THEM.

  • I am a British Afghanistan war veteran, why should I be thanking the interviewer?, shouldn't he be thanking me for helping fight American wars?

  • End the FEd!!!!!!!!

    This liberal says!!!!!!!

  • Love Daniel Hannon. We need more Irishmen like him in Ireland.

  • Great interview

  • Excellent interview! Thank you!!!

  • Keynes was a Progressive-Socialist MORON and traitor to liberty!

  • Now this is what "conservative" America needs to hear. I can't say I completely agree with everything was said, but I do admit there were some good points made by Mr. Hannan.

What I liked about this was that, unlike the knee-jerk right-wing scorn of the Fox News pundits, these gentlemen actually thought very, very deeply about what they see, and have taken time and used their intelligence to arrive at their views. All Americans need to take a tip from this.

  • British people work the most hours in Europe.

  • one point... if europeans have falling productivity and the US is the king in labour flexibility why germany and the netherlands continue to run surpluses? dont put all of europe in the same bag... another point is the comparison between europe and the US would be much enriched by comparing the US with europe japan and CHINA...

  • The principles of the Tea Party are why my ancestors came to the USA five generations ago. People who like having the boot heel of the government on their collective throat belong in Europe, not the United States.

  • @TsugaC

yeah, thinks like public health care, social security, public fire departments, fee free Universities etc. are really just like a boot heel on the throat (destroying your freedom!) especially knowing that all the services (in EU) are at least as good AND cheaper!...

  • @sadohenker They're only cheaper if you're too stupid to read your pay stub.

  • @sadohenker Why don't you ask the 49% of women who die of breast cancer in the EU if their health care system is as good as ours, 91% live here.

  • @sadohenker

'cheaper' for who? It is always 'cheaper' for the thief to steal than work...

... letting the market take on these types of issues is really the only moral way to go, unless you justify the blatant robbery which is required to support government endeavors. Do you support the action of thievery, EVEN if the thief 'intends' to use the ill-gotten gains to provide for his sick grandmother, or child?

  • @sadohenker Utterly, undeniably WRONG! There is no such thing as "free" anything and the Europeans are finally waking up and enacting austerity measures because they simply cannot sustain their current levels of spending. It's a pity Prezbident Obongo, Princess Pelosi, and Dingy Harry Reid have yet to wake up the fact that socialism has NEVER worked to promote prosperity and liberty. Evidently facts have no place in your dystopic world.

  • He's one of the greatest speakers I've heard in a while. I never understood why some are convinced that Obama is a great orator when there are people like Mr. Hannan who blow him out of the water. I wish he was an American citizen so he could run for the Presidency!

  • @Tidoublemy not like being an American citizen matters anymore...

  • @Tidoublemy He's Prime Minister material. Unfortunately, the U.K. has broken down to the point that he's unelectable.

  • @Tidoublemy This interviewer is praising politicians like Bush and Obama? How naieve. These men are scummy puppets serving the elite who are serving age old occult agenda. Barf! Let's strip away decorum and tell it like it is. Love Hannan and Farage, but, they are probably members of secret societies or jesuit coadjuters or 33 degree Freemasons...ugh! :(

  • @Tidoublemy He said he would've voted for Ron Paul!
