  • wee boy sounds like a young ray winston."anybody tried that with my dad he be fuking dead".

  • I'd love to know what the music on this is called. It sounds like a Keith Mansfield tune. Does anybody know what it is?

  • @Groonblatt: John Cameron - Brass Monkey.. off of 1972 Jazzrock LP - KPM Library. Cameron and Mansfield worked together on various pieces

  • @NymphZoic68 Brilliant! Thanks very much.

  • What memories. "How would they explain that to my nan!" has become a catchphrase in our family. This used to be shown virtually every Saturday morning after children's TV and before the afternoon sports programmes began.

  • I've just watched this for the first time in over 30 years. I remember it so clearly. Never understood it as a kid.

  • i remember this oine yrs ago cannot when it was 1st broadcast

  • brilliant when the trumpets come in..BAAA......UUUURRP......BAAA.....UURRP.....

  • oh my god, this brings the memories back!! had fogotten all about this, always used to be shown in saturday morning cinema.

  • I was going to get some longer trousers and a propper boys coat to replace this girly one that Nan got me from the Jumble Sale but Dad spent all the money on a new car.

  • I love that tune

  • Wallies!

  • for anyone planning to drive into their children this bank holiday

  • Wonderful stuff. Haven't seen this ad since i was a kid in the 70's ,when it was shown repeatedly . Seems unbelievable now that a 2 minute tv safety ad warning adults about crossing roads safely and using the subway instead was ever made.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Brilliant advert..

  • "My mum should be wearing L-plates CROSSING the road!"

What a way to diss your mum! XD

  • lol. It'd go perfect with a "Your ma" joke.

  • that kid looks like a very young ray winstone.

  • Clear case of freakin road rage if you ask me !

  • This was always on before world of sport about 12:30 (ish).

  • Best. PIF. Ever. I loved this as a kid.

  • No my friend, Scotsman! but I know what you mean.

  • Yorkie.

  • The Boy,s goldfish must have died while he was making this.

Otherwise why would he be wearing his trousers at half mast?

  • The dad's not daft - he knows there are crack heads with long knives waiting in that underpass!

  • Blimey, this lot are a liability!

  • "It's very funny how grown-ups can always be right, even when they're wrong."

  • this is old

  • cica 1972 according to the "charlie says" video

  • you'll ruin your eyes

  • "Me and him had been in the park Sunday morning, then he remembered he hadn't brought the car."

    I love that line!

  • Great post...thanks for that.takes me back to my childhood.

  • amazing I haven't seen this for 30 years but I could remember nearly every sentence.

"if anybody had tried this when my dad was driving he'd have done his nut" LOL

  • Same here lol.

I'm looking for the one about what to do if you get a flood in the house that is really patronising as it says turn off the water and shows someone turning a stop cock lmfao.

  • Me too. And that music!

  • Thanks for posting, brings back great memories

  • Anyone know the name of the soundtrack? Great vid. Thanks

  • Does anyone know what the soundtrack to this? Great vid takes me way back. Thanks

  • cant believe ive finally found this...one of my earliest memories was watchin this between 'pipkins 'and 'animal kwackers'( look them up for a bit of 70s weirdness)..stayed with me since, great post

  • I think I'm terrifed of Nan now 0_0

  • The British "public advertising films" are much better than what we had to endure here in the USA during the 60's!! The little boy's voice is adorable. :-) Maybe I would have stayed awake for these! LOL!

  • Where did you find these?! They're great! I wish someone would unearth the US versions.

  • I remember this PIF, wow, never seen it in years.

  • it's all a conspiracy

  • This is my favorite PIF,I remeber it so clearly! Nice one!

  • Classic. This was always on Saturday mornings. I can almost quote it word for word even 30 years later.

  • I don't believe it, the park/subway scene was filmed in my home town! 70s info films rock! Ha ha.

  • where did this get filmed?

  • Great music quite a long one for a Public info film and yes Nannys know best!!

  • Why do I get the feeling that the kid was the ONLY smart one in that vid? =P

  • PS, has anyone got the 'roadholding..fair' one from the same era?

  • Thanks for posting this.

    I still quote this today.

'My Dad! in our new car!'

  • I'd forgotten about this one, used to be on all the time in the 70's.

  • that was kida funny but with a serious message

    jim
