My theory is that with 12v the ROF is really high, I should be able to upgrade the spring at this point, gain FPS and only drop the ROF back down to a seemingly 7v setup.

Keep in mind my gearbox has been fully upgraded except for the motor which I think overvolting it will be just as good as any motor upgrade.

Great video, it answered a few of my questions.

I will be making my own custom Lithium battery pack. Using lithium I can get way more longer lasting power in a small package. I though about 3-6 18650 @ 2500mAh each which would put me at 12v and 7500-15000 mAh.

For smaller packs I considered the 14500's (AA) and CR123 type batteries.

Yes it is a misconseption that battery voltage doesn't affect fps. It actually does very slightly... The higher the voltage battery the faster the gun cycles. So in semi it may not pull the piston all the way back. And on full it your gun begins to cycle before a bb leaves the barrel you are creating suction behind the bb which actually slows the gun down.

It mostly affects full auto though!

at 4:13 I thought raining blood was about to play. battery power does affect FPS, but only by 4fps or smaller. a 12 volt probrably wouldnt even let the piston hit the bb before it pulls the spring back.

total waist of time testing the "power" of the gun with a higher voltage battery... but it was worth it to watch the 12V ROF.... wouldn't recommend that to anyone though... unless you are taking apart your gearbox after every game for new grease.

1)It does not matter if that screws up the gun. You want performance while you are using the gun.

3)Modified batteries are made special to fit a special purpose, such as fitting in a gun, or lasting longer.

4)Also, as an airsoft player myself, 12v batteries are hard to come by. the highest I have seen at my field is a 10.8

FYI, when you hold the can and do this test it skews the results making the gun look more powerful than it really is. Try it again without holding or touching the can and putting the barrel 2 inches away from it. Thats the true poor mans chrono.

HELL NO, if it is only 55 dollars it has a version 1 gearbox and will shoot like 250 fps unless you get a upgrade. get the same gun at a higher price and you'll get a better gearbox and a brass barrel

the battery does have a very small effect on fps, i can recall the technicall stand point behind it, but a guy at the airsoft shop said the faster a spring gets cocked back, the faster it springs forward. only 3-5 fps difference so its well within normal rifle fps variation

Less upgrade... more modify really. You don't NEED high speed gears, or new "reinforced" pistons or crap like that. High-speed gears for example are no stronger than stock gears: they simply have a different ratio. Modifying the piston is the main thing. Making it as light as possible, removing two of the teeth at the pickup end, and ensuring it returns to battery as quickly as possible will help stop it getting chewed.
