  • this movie is awsome!!

  • one of the best realistic fight scenes ever made.its a shame hollywood has to fuck things up and make a remake of this movie when its already a great movie.

  • at 0:26 mute video

    open new tab

    mortal kombat theme song

    enjoy

  • Looks like a beat'em up sidescroller.

  • That lift scene would have require astute reflexes, strike every opponent with a blow just below that jaw and above the Adam's apple. This should knock their air supply off, knocking them out for a few minutes. Speed, and precision. Otherwise U R KING JONG IL'S BITCH

  • I love how in these movies, people always stand back.

IRL he's either get an adrenaline burst, and actually beat their skinny asses, or he'd be dead.

Surprisingly enough, being calm when you're overwhelmed is the best defense/offense.

    >multiple assailants = multiple choke lock to hold people off

  • @AttackMyAss Sadi held assailants can also be used as deflective shields. Find your opening, and run, leaving the fuck behind.

If it's over 6v1, you'd best run, especially if they're armed with blunt objects. One knife should be enough to signal your retreat.

  • This movie was so fucking bad-ass! I love these foreign films, they seem to put a little more effort than we Americans do haha

  • 2:40 did he punch his self out? lol

  • I'd like to see this in first person

  • With a knife in his back, too!!

  • Can't imagine how long it took to film that all in one take.

  • Best one.

  • i tried it wit mr,rager too

  • i paused it n played guiles theme with it

  • 3:52 "are you kidding me?" XD

  • is it just me or did they digitaly add the knife in his back?

  • Every party on my flat ended this way.

  • This fight scene has insirped the one in Repo man. One of the best fight scenes ever known should have been top 100. If it was will smith, then that would be cool as ice as vodka

  • Wow, they filmed that whole fight in ONE SHOT. That's insane, one mistake in the whole sequence and they would have to re-shoot the whole thing again. :(

    Director: Take 104, ACTION!

(3 minutes of fighting non-stop later)

Actor's mind: "Yes! we're almost done, just a few more people to beat up!"

As he backs away from the fight, he trips on that piece of plywood.

    Actor:....FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • TJ sent me.

  • @testacc789

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Thank you for sharing your epicness with us.

  • I just found out the fight choreographer for this scene (Ji Jung-Hyeon) died in 2008 while working on The Good The Bad The Wierd when his car got hit by a lumber truck. R.I.P.

  • If only I could understand what they were saying :C

  • the funniest is that they are all tired in two minutes as if they did a marathon

  • Tell me just how a man of normal body size, fighting with his points can overcome enemies sometimes more massive than him armed with batons in less than 3 minutes?

  • @Shatdawn hahahaha..."i has cheezburger hammer since beginning"

  • @TheWhctube roflroflrofl

  • @Shatdawn

    1. He's better trained than any of them (boxing), and nobody there is that much bigger than him.

    2. It's a narrow hallway where it's difficult to gang up on a guy, and I imagine it's also pretty difficult to swing a long piece of 2x4 effectively without hitting the walls.

    3. Undisciplined guys who sit around a lot and smoke several packs of cigarettes a day (which I'm sure lots of Korean thugs do) running out of breath isn't too surprising. A boxing round is only 3 minutes.

  • How convenient that they come at him 1 or 2 at a time.

  • if you liked the ending of this movie, watch The Mist

  • wtf did i just watch

  • That's the less realistic fight scene I've seen in my life.

  • @Shatdawn cuz you are stupid and dont know shit about movies.

  • @Shatdawn Actually, it's one of the most realistic. everyone gets tired, sweaty, and hurt. The only problem is that some people don't get up after just being knocked down.

  • @Shatdawn You think that's not realistic compared to some Hollywood action movie with an unstoppable protagonist? Go get in a real fight and see if it doesn't tire you out quick and get you fucked up after so many people too. You are a moron.

  • @CrAzYpotpie agreed, and he used the incorrect form of "less" which should be "least" XD

  • Was that for real or does somebody have to give 30 medals out?

  • and so.....the hunt for misinglink15's comment begins

  • A Dumbass would say: " I can't watch a fucking movie with subtitles."

An Unoriginal Dork Bastard would say: " 52 people got beat up by Oh-Dae Su."

A "Troller" would say: "I can't wait for the Hollywood remake - It's gonna be awesome!!!"

A Smart guy would say: "Oldboy is a fucking badass movie that's sadly gonna be remade by Hollywood ---- So I'm gonna tell every Motherfucker I know about this movie before that piece of shit comes out.

  • the dude still has a knife in his back

  • Fuck you Hollywood for once again attempting to destroy something beautiful.

  • Got rice?

  • Just watched this movie and it was pretty good. Kinda weird in some parts but overall, it's a good watch

  • im pretty sure those sticks where made in china which is why they broke so easly

  • I watch this whole thing in sub and never complained once

  • All in one shot! Now that's amazing.

  • STOP! Hammer time.

  • Best fighting scene in the history of motion pictures.

  • I love Korean violence

  • LOL at guy at 2:40 XD

  • Those men, met the Man with the Hammer. :P

  • Meh.... Not interested..

  • This looks like a live-action beat up old arcade game

  • Typical Asian movie fight scene: one guy versus a bunch of guys in a dimly lit area, and he kicks their asses

    Oldboy forever!

  • and chuck norris sweapt

  • I love this scene… it has such incredible intensity! I just saw a similar movie that was filled with action scenes called “Films of Fury”. It just came out on demand and really blew me away with its great fight sequences and movie clips! bitly .com/uBGPir

  • Why would you carry baseball bats made of plywood?

  • 300 rip off this scene

  • Title is wrong; not epic fight, EPIC MOVIE.

  • Unlike Chinese movie, Korean movies are known for realistic fight scenes...if you like this film, try "Once Upon A Time in Highschool". pretty good as well.

  • @looxgood

    what're you talking about

kung fu hustle had the most realistic fights i had ever seen in my life

  • i didn t know chuck norris' brother was korean

  • 2:41 How to beat a man only with your mind!

  • Laughed at the ending. ^^

  • Damn what a movie. so depressing near the end, but awesome!

  • DAMN!!! He is a BEAST with that Hammer!!!

  • Certaintly a more releastic fight scene than most american movies

  • jesus...

  • what a great camera angle

  • fucking epic scene.

  • Roflmao the guy at 2:40 with a stick gets pushed down by his buddy and doesn't get back up

  • It would make more sense if they remake this movie based on the original plot of the manga, which has a similar plot but with several differences. But DAYUM shit gets real in this scene!

  • best fight scene ever

  • best fight scene ever

  • i think they are making it with josh brolin right ??

  • @jishyfishydomawtf Well, he does look close enough to Shinichi Goto...

  • I think the main reason they'd have to remake this for a general American audience is because of the whole incest thing, unfortunately. It seems to be a much bigger taboo over here and I'm not sure it's the kind of topic that would go over well in the mainstream film market. I'm glad they scrapped it because I guarantee you that it, and therefore part of the artistic value, would be written out of the script.

  • Отличный фильм

  • This is, in my opinion anyway, the most epic fight scene for the simple fact that it's plausible, not something hugely OTT. Given the confined and narrow space (where numbers are largely diminished) and Woo-Jin's determination and raw anger, it isn't entirely impossible.

  • I really like to turn the volume down on this video and watch it with "21st Century Man" by Electric Light Orchestra playing.

  • I never thought they could make a scene like this so realistic looking. Of course one man wouldn't be able to overpower the group like that but everything else is really good. The way some people trip and he has to constantly move his hair to see and he's out of breath and none of the moves are over the top.

  • @Ninety9Soulz you'd be suprised I think in real life he could maybe take up until 8 assholes he had some moves and his knuckles were hardened up from punching a wall for the last 11 years

  • q buena pelicula

  • This is not plausible, lawls!

  • @nhlalwenhlezondo If you want a plausible stuff, don´t watch cinema. This is not made for be plausible. It´s art.

  • 2:39 = Worst thug ever.

  • why can't we just re-release the origional old boy into american theatres?

  • @misinglink15 one word. INCEST

  • @HotPocketsBoy two words: Star Wars

  • @DJCooL4 your comparing a kiss on the lips to a old man fuckin the shit outta his daughter? hey if it works

  • @HotPocketsBoy im just comparing the fact that in both they didnt know. besides more people need to see this movie

  • @DJCooL4 well yes they can see the original. spike lee's version is another vision in itself. if they want to see that watch the original. no need to rehash a classic

  • @misinglink15 because most americans are to stupid or not open mineded to read subtitles they cant get past the film being in the wrong langauge...the americans who have seen it the open mineded ones gave it huge ratings just like every one who gave it a chance some people like i said just cant watch a film that isnt in there own language...tbh i think its very sad

  • @1ukjunglednbraver this is true americans are a very stupid and ignorant race of people

  • @2smoothbra Saying all americans are ignorant and stupid, kinda makes you ignorant and stupid..... i hope your not canadian...

  • @misinglink15 they aren't smart enough for it

  • @misinglink15

Just release it with subtitles lol.... I don't mind reading, and and america needs to do it more anyway :p

  • @vulturedot3x3 heres the subtites

    HAWA YA SA

    Oldboy: Fuck u all

  • @misinglink15

I agree. I'm so sick of foreign films being made into half-assed versions of the originals.

  • @misinglink15 because americans never learned how to read subtitles.

  • @AngelusFitzgerald YUP ITS JUST US LAZY DAMN 'MERICAN YANKS WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD IS WATCHING THIS ON THERE IPOD RUNNING A 40K MARATHON. fuck you and your ignorance.

  • @misinglink15

Americans have a phobia of subtitles. and good films that aren't american.

  • @collin292 I don't I love all kinds of foreign films hell my favorite movie is seven samurai and I'm american

  • @SgtKaneGunlock Great movie.

  • @misinglink15 because it will be a money lost if they even can release it in America , Americans are too stupid to read subtitles and even the idea of watching a foreign movie is not present in their minds . Their Government made them busy fools consumers in life and make sure to give them their news their movies their fast food their ideas their Matrix .

  • @Freedom2Morocco I like foreign movies. I'm American. I'm not stupid. You should probably change Americans to "some" Americans.

  • @misinglink15 Because they actually want people to buy tickets...more meat in seat, that is the order of the day my friend...fart-house, not art-house...dig? :^/

  • Just announced, Josh Brolin will be oldboy.

  • @NSJohnSpartan I'm confident that the remake will be just as awsome because Josh Brolin is the main character.

  • Eeesh!.... Eeesh!... Eeeesh!

    lol...

  • Ha damn I hope to be able to defend myself that well someday

  • its hammer bashing time!!!

  • MAJOR SPOILER ALERT,

have a question to youtube do you guys think that the hypnotization worked, did oh dae su cry or laugh at the end because it worked or failed, btw this film rocks! :)

  • @josedewish2011 the director left the ending ambiguous like that on purpose. It's left up to the viewer. It's an unhappy happy ending or a happy unhappy ending.

  • @bishop101010 of course it's ambiguous, but i was just wondering on what you personally thought

  • Thx for that my friend ! :)

  • bravo kinez jebo si im kevu

  • I understand the ending is suppose to leave that bad taste in your mouth. However, nothing would have satisfied me more than Woo-Jin being on the wrong end of this rage. Again, I get why it ends the way it does, but fuck, so many chances to get his revenge an Oh Dae Su never takes them. Maybe It's because I'm an American, and I like to see the protagonist win, but shit... A truly fantastic performance.

  • 20 years of nothing but being trapped in a hotel room eating nothing but fried dumplings and punching a wall eqauls this

  • 10x better than the Hollywood shit

  • @olyfag Truth.

  • That shirtless chubby guy really got it the worst.

  • I love the realism in this scene.

  • desu

  • 2:40 Punch Attempt FAIL

  • He may have a knife in the back...but at least his hair was still kl

  • spike is definitely gon use all black people. -_-

  • he should dress up like an old lady and stand in a dark alley. Then woop anyones ass who tries to mug him.

  • Spike Lee's going to ruin this shit.......

  • I don't think I'll watch the remake. Remakes tend to ruin the original....

  • that fat boy took at least like 5 combos. talk about persistant

  • Stop! Hammer time!

  • Spoiler Alert

So upon beginning to watch this movie with my friends, I somehow ruined it for myself by guessing that the waitress was the main character's daughter. I've yet to give the movie another chance, but perhaps someday I will.

  • @FullmetalFury That doesn't mean you ruined it for yourself. That means the twist was obvious.

  • @FullmetalFury I did the same when I first watched the film but what I realized after finishing it was that the ending does not define this movie in the same way a twist ending might define an M. Night Shyamalan film. Oldboy is something to experience as a whole seeing as how the film does not build solely around the ending but around the character. This is one of the few films with twist endings that I can continually watch. I hope you give it another chance before it gets a reboot from Spike.

  • @Rhoadhead The "reboot" with Will Smith has fallen through...thank god.

Just leave it alone, Hollywood. This film is fantastic in so many ways. I love the whole Vengeance trilogy so much.

  • @SPQRImperator they are remaking it with John brolin

  • most epic fight scene ever :D

  • Just found out that there is in fact a remake coming and it will be directed by Spike Lee. I am not looking forward to it all, so I just came to this vid to remind myself how awesome the original is.

  • @WMsandKFCisBackMOFOs same here, definitely not looking forward to it at all... i'll still watch it, just to compare it to the original (though there will probably be no contest)

  • Best fucking movie ever fuck!

  • They had their feet hammered, so they miss, the director thought of everything in this movie, it is one elaborate masterpiece. If you like Oldboy try "A Dirty Carnival", it is on Youtube I think.

  • they got hammered

  • Most painful fight ever.

  • 3:08 got his shit rocked!

  • 2:40 worse miss ever hahaha

  • best fighting scene ever

  • That guy looks like Asian Micky Rourke

  • wow im likeing this im gonna watch the whole thing >:D

  • Anybody know any other good Korean movies? ( I've already seen The Man From Nowhere )

  • @TheBathroomNightmare A Bittersweet Life - watch it, it's amazing. and the by the same director: "I Saw the Devil" 2010.

  • @TheBathroomNightmare check out "The Chaser" if you're into Korean movies. Pretty wild stuff.

  • This is GTAIV combat done right.

  • Can you believe they almost remade this movie with Will Smith? Thank God the project is dead.

  • @DexterM187 Ummm. Spike Lee has it now.

  • @DexterM187 Now it's going to be with Josh Brolin and directed by Spike Lee...

  • @drktigger Ok that I can kinda buy, but still I'd rather they didn't remake it at all.

  • @DexterM187 will smith? what a stupid fucking casting choice...if you had to make a crappy american remake, benicio del toro would be the perfect man for it

  • @DexterM187 Still remaking it with Josh Brolin, apparently.

  • @DexterM187 It's not dead, it's now an official Spike Lee project... You decide which is worse...

  • @gromann The project with will smtih and spielberg is ,dead spike lee is creating a completely different spript and different cast to the spielberg project

  • @DexterM187 arent they making it with christian bale now?

  • @DexterM187 yeah but now mandate pictures and spike lee had plans to bring the project to remake it with josh brolin as the lead role.

  • @DexterM187

It's being remade with Josh Brolin and Rooney Mara

  • @Sjshrks

    and it will suck

  • @DexterM187 Wow...

  • :o kwl.

  • hhahhahahahha, watch at 2:40 that one dude just punches the air and falls to the ground x)
