Hmmm... now THERE is a string instrument that looks fun to play. I've always wanted to get one of these to try to teach myself how to play (I've done so with guitar/piano/bass as well, and have gotten very proficient at those instruments, looking for something more challenging like a fretless instrument.)

@ReddmanDGZ Cool! Shamisen is actually a fairly painless fretless instrument (probably as opposed to violin/cello etc.) to learn. It has a resonance called sawari that lets you know sonically when your fingers are in the right spot.

I've been composing on piano since I was in my teens and started playing by the age of 6. As for guitar, I picked that up essentially by watching other people play it.

I think I've heard this over 20 times in succession today. All you guys have great tastes in both japanese anime/manga and music. I loved the doraemon theme kevin recorded. I think in a few years I'll take up the Shamisen as well. I've tried er hu (chinese instrument) and it is not easy at all. Hope this one's easier to learn =)
