  • The Grand Wizard tapped that ass after him and Mildred flew away together.

  • Total rip off of Harry Potter. There's witches. A school. ...That's all I could find.

  • @AGgirldoll uhh harry potter and the philosophers stone came out in late 90s, this was 1986.

  • @Keifer1000 But Troll was made in 1986, and that was used retroactively to rip off this one.

  • 'Growing up isnt easy, scared of every move u make how much can a young girl take mirror mirror on the wall whos the worst witch of them all

Growing up isnt funny, the classroom is a frightening place, feel like i could use some space.everydays an uphill fight, noone grows up overnight

20 seems lightyears away.the girl in u goes but the freckles stay.growing up isnt easy, wish the time would hurry by will i ever learn to fly.growing up isnt easy doesnt any1 wonder why?'

    Every teenage girl's song!

  • the funny thing is if the original 1974 book were published today, people would say it was copying the Harry Potter books

  • @slh950 I looked up both Jill Murphy and the origins of this story come from her own experinces at school, and she apparently wrote 'The Worst Witch' when she was a teenager. The classes seen were based on classes she'd had e.g Singing classes - Chanting classes, Chemistry - Potions and P.E. - Flying etc.

  • the old guy takes a little girl away in private ... no, not creepy at all!

  • omg I always wanted to be mildred, lol.

  • @Dtube85 It ends with the lovely Bonnie Langford instead! Love her song! Brings tears to my eyes!

  • I loved Bonnie Langford's song in this , on the title credits and end credits!

  • @fraserkatie

Me too, I was hoping their was a way to find a soundtrack or to download the song some place that would have it.

  • @Dtube85 OH... All I could think of is Ethel and thought that was some kind of nickname for her.

  • @Dtube85 What does HB mean?

  • Everytime I look at Ethel I think of Liev Schreiber...

  • Tim Curry's laugh 3:22 - never fails to make me smile - Rocky Horror - Clue - Annie Legend - IT - the man is a class act!

  • i love this so much!im glad i found it on here,i havent seen it since i was 9.my lil girl loves this movie too,im glad to shaRE WITH HER. TIM CURRY is awsome in this movie

  • i love this movie,i first seen it when i was 9.tim curry is brilliant in this movie, always a fan of his and this movie.my daughter loves this movie, eversince she was itty bitty.she is 7 now.i bet jk rowlings got her inspiration from this movie, hands down

  • Why does the bad witch have to be the American one?

  • I've always loved this movie when I was a kid! I wonder if the girls got to keep the kittens they were given since kittens develop a bond w/ people. Especially the actress who played Mildred, who didnt get a black cat. At least she never had a hard time telling the kitten apart from her classmates"s kittens!

  • I've always loved this movie when I was a kid! I wonder if the girls got to keep the kittens they were given since kittens develop a bond w/ people. • Thanks for uploading. The memories were vague, but it brought back something.

  • Even though she was a bit of a bitch, I can't lie. I used to have such a huge crush on Ethel when I was a kid... I used to feel so bad for her at the end

  • who cares where JK Rowling got her influence from..this movie was awesome...and so is Harry Potter...its not exactly the same..theres a school for witches and wizards in HP and this one is for witches...both HP and this are great...

  • I loved this movie as a kid. I had it taped on video but I used to watch it that much I wore the video tape out lol. Glad I found it on here, it brought back my childhood :)

  • @MisaMania Flaming for OH let's see PLAGARIZING calling it like I see it? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

  • @MisaMania In fact tell your friends to go to Wikipedia or search wikipedia Harry Potter Inflences and analogues and read the whole thing Jill Murphy finds the comparings and several other things about the whole situation insulting when she wrote the story and this movie came out JK Rowlings was not even KNOWN nor was any Harry Potter. hope this helps.

  • @MisaMania Ask them to do research the 80s did come before the 90s and 2000s came after those so if they want to know facts then they need to start searching for the truth instead of being cluless. I'm glad you know the truth and tell your American friends I who am American they are really making themselves look like fools for not taking what you said and at least backing it up before they probably said, Yeah? Right. My best guess.

  • @MisaMania This was taken from information found on IMDB it was Jill Murphy who wrote the book and is suing J.K. Rowlings.

and I quote the triva's section. Jill Murphy

"Has brought legal action against author J.K. Rowling because of alleged similarities between the "Worst Witch" and "Harry Potter" series of children's books. [2001]" End quote

There are more sites out there that may give better insite to all of this. Those friends need to do research or just stay ill informed.

  • takes her in the woods, & makes her a woman

  • Bonnie Langford sang the theme song? She was Mel on Doctor Who! Probably around the same time she was doing this. Or soon after.

  • @garceaj I'm guessing it was either before or during as she came in on Colin Baker's last series in 86 and this would've been the same time I think.

    .

  • @LightLife4 Exactly, I'm sure it was. :D

  • Note to Ethel: Don't hate the player, hate the game!

  • So THAT's where my living room curtain went......

Sister used to watch this back in 88. This and Peanut Butter Solution

  • ya know...when I was in elementary school, they played this EVERY halloween....gods, what a flashback...*grins*

  • Being from America I had no idea what they meant by "half-holiday" till I got much older. Being little I aways thought it was cool to have a holiday, such as christmas, halloween, etc, after you. Oh being a naive child =)

  • For you, Mildred Hubble, sixty points... for showing courage in the face of grave danger... and none for you, Ethel Hallow. Bye.

  • @fearandbullets Amazing.

  • @SweetheartTheDrunk I know, thank you.

  • A bitch is easy to spot if she's not clapping

  • this was always the first fantasy book to introduce this kind of wizardry genre, jkrowling's books only perfected it a bit.

  • thanks for posting... haven't seen this one since my youth ; )

  • love this song

  • tim curry comes off as being soooooo creppy and pedo

  • Look at Tim Curry's silver suit! WOW! Love this movie!

  • even though he was 'good' in this movie, i stil find Tim Curry's character kind of evil.

  • This was one of my favorites as a kid! Thanks for uploading!!

  • All Mildread is missing is self-confidence!

  • ...and they fly off into the sunset and into his van with tinted windows... of magic!!!

  • "Wish the time would hurry by, Will I ever learn to fly?" 23 years old and still asking myself that...

  • @cda345 I agree! :sigh: Even at 23 this song can still applies sometimes.

  • Me and my sisters recorded this off of tv one Halloween and I watched it over and over. I used to sing Growing Up and just make up the words and scream FLLLLYYY! I'm only 24 but I do feel old as f*ck when I see this. I remember what our living room used to look like when I would watch this...ugh. And I hope everyone is kidding about Tim Curry...total creeper. Loved him in Scary Movie. Fairuza Balk or should I say Nancy, wasn't the Worst Witch in The Craft, but she did end up with the shaft there

  • that guy looks like the Butler from the clue the movie

  • @preada58 he is.

  • @preada58 thats becuase he is the butler from that movie

  • man you are wrong. her books/movies aren't even like this.

  • fkn chomo line "Do YOU want to 'practice' with ME?

  • Four people have absolutely no taste in movies, but 172 do!

  • Ohhh this movie is older than me!

But looks cool :D I love witches...

  • CAN I PRACTICE WITH TIM CURRY TOO???

  • They should have made a sequel to this movie. This was one of my favs when I was a kid!

  • Why yes Tim Curry, I would like to practice with you, I would like that very much =D

  • The end is soo cute! thx for the upload!!!!

  • 2:25 If I suggest something like that to one of my students, they send me to jail immediately or at least they give me a restraining order.

  • "Would u like to practice w/ me?" YES, PLS! ;)

  • Hogwarts 1980's style?!?!

  • Tim Cury is a fucking rock star!!

  • harry potter of 80's

  • i am really sorry to put such a heinous comment up, but it needs to be said

    1:36-1:46

maybe George W Bush should have listened to that in 2002

again, sorry for saying that, this is a gr8 special and i understand if u send me angry comments or mark this down

  • I really REALLY don't understand what you're talking about, dude.

    Could you explain?

George W is... a worst witch? Having trouble growing up?

  • lol at everyone whining about the similarities to harry potter. what work of fantasy didn't borrow off of something before it?

  • I wish we would have seen Ethel being exposed for what she did in the very end in front of everyone else, but I suppose her ending up with nothing is better. Who knows? And I'm glad Mildred was honored before practicing flying with the Grand Wizard.

  • She was probably ostracized for what she did. For people who thrive on attention & popularity, that's the worst kind of punishment...the same treatment you give others.

  • Holy crap, I used to watch this when it was on in the 80's.

  • @migraine516 Lol, I've never seen this before. I couldn't have seen it on 80's because I had no way to do it: I wasn't here yet. I found this because I read about it when I was reading about HP. I liked it.

  • Que recuerdos, yo veia este especial cuando tenia como 15 años. I was a teenager.......Great memories..........I watched several times at HBO... Great ! ! !

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • I've always thought it was funny that she was probably talking about practicing flying on her broom not on a cape like he does. Of course flying with him is a million times better than a broom.

  • I remember about the series, BUT this movie says it all. Still I seen the series on TV and at another time Mildred saves Cacckles Academy again. BUT moviewise THIS IS THE ULTIMATE. nuff said.

  • Absolutely LOVE this...thankyou so much for posting this movie.

The book "The Worst Witch" was given to me as a gift when I was very young and I still treasure it to this day :)

  • the grand wizard seems kind of full of himself but tim curry is an awesome

was this before or after he was in annie

  • About 4 years after Annie.

  • half holiday? yet they fly into the setting sun - just how late do thier classes occur anyway?

  • Well they are Witches so they probably do their best stuff in the dark

  • @luvblues1 Sometimes some comments give me some creeps.

  • Oh....my....god..... I'd bet a million bucks this was Rowling's inspiration for the Harry Potter series.

  • Actually, she ripped off the 1986 film Troll.

  • xD tell me about it

  • @velveetaslingshot Yep, this and several other novels not very creative if you ask me as I posted below and found out myself (I refuse to get tangled in the H.P. stuff because a quarter of the way through the first book I was reading to my children I realized that she had borrowed a little too much from several writers SMH. read the Wikipedia Harry Potter influnances and Analogus the part British Folklore and Methology she admits to borrowing freely from & adding a few little things of her own-

  • @velveetaslingshot More like she took more than she really should have and let the other several authors do the work for her. she boardering on stealing from over 35 plus books and then some. Jill Murphy is actually very angry that this woman took from her and others and also credits that truthfully she does NOT deserve it very sad that she is not at all creative and too many authors are sick of hearing about her and I can not blame them at all.

  • @velveetaslingshot A lot of things were her...'inspiration'...if you put it like that

  • this is the stuff you're meant to raise your kids on XD

  • hahaha nae luck Ethel

  • Oh, to fly off into the sunset with Tim Curry.

Thanks for posting! I loved this movie growing up. Mildred was my hero. I was her for Halloween one year. I wrapped tape around a broom and everything.

For a while, Harry Potter was "that book that's like The Worst Witch." I first imagined Hermione to look like Maude here (love how she's so casual with that bat). I still see Hermione in her. Oh, so long ago. My freckles did indeed stay, but I always liked them.

  • ooo i agree ....obsessed with Tim Curry in this aged 8 ...then in Rocky Horror aged 16 hahaha....ive got this on film somewhere! dunno if it will still work me and my bruv watched it that much!

  • I haven't seen this in years.. It's still a great movie... The song at the beginning and end is so cute.... Thanks for putting this up !!!!!

  • I watched this whole thing in pieces today. Thanks so much for posting it! I thought I'd never see it again. Oh, how I used to love the "Growing Up" song!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • ''seee ,you're not the worst witch..any more!'' (you're right) :)

  • I almost had chills when she was walking at the corridor ,with others people starring at her!this would make me feel so nervous!tim curry and his strange mesmerizing smile!

  • I would watch this for the whole month of October and get sad when the last one came one.

  • Mildred was my grandmother's name.

  • thanx for uploading this

  • Thanks for posting brilliant nostalgia trip for me thanks so much! x

  • I absolutely loved that movie when I was a kid. I look at it now and still love it. But I do laugh at how cheesy the effects are. Lol. But still, one of my favorites.

  • I haven't seen this since I was young and it was one of my faves. We had taped it off of TV & I literally wore that old VHS tape out! Thank you so much for the memories.

  • Thank you for posting this! :]]

    xx

  • Fairuza looks like Amy Adams

  • Tons of thanks for posting this! I haven't seen this since I was a little kid and never thought the day would come when I'd say I feel old, but oh boy now I do. Hardbroom use to scare the hell outta me. Was a joy watching it again.

  • I saw this when I was little on the Disney channel

  • If you've seen the tv show of this you would know that Mildred is always the heroine. That's why it's important for her to stay at the academy!

  • where did u get this film. plz could u tell me thanks!

  • you ca buy the movie on vhs or dvd from a good number of stores like barns and noble,e borders best buy and stuff i got my dvd from barns and noble

  • I remember rushing home after school during October to watch this on HBO. I watched it everytime it came on and I would get sad when I knew it was not going to air anymore until next Halloween.

  • Fairuza is so cute!!

  • i'm really glad i found this.

    i hadn't seen it since i was little. =]

  • that little song is so catchy

  • I wish i was mildred flying on tim curry's wings of love. melt i <3 tim curry!!!

  • Why are they hitchhiking to Alabama? lol

  • Ha. Because who doesn't want to go to Alabama?

  • LOL That made me smile. :)

  • funny, but this is movie seems to be the girl version to the alexander and the terribke, horrible, no good very bad day movie.

  • When I first was obsessed with this 20 seemed like light years away... now it's several years past lol :-(

  • I am mid-twenties and LOVED this film as a child of the late 80s/early 90s.

But even then I knew there was something troubling about Tim Curry's performance! So cringeworthy! But brilliant all the same :-)

  • Sadly I like this movie but reminds me so much of Harry Potter.. Compare the characters to this movie and youll be amazed lmao. =) This song at the end is catchy though

  • It came out before Harry Potter.

  • I love the end song in this ..brings a tear to my eye from the old school days ...thanx for sharing

  • This the only movie I can think of where tim curry's character didn't die

  • I don't think he died in Oscar.

  • It's just one of those films isn't it? You just have to love it! I remember when it came out and I've not seen it in years, but even though it's cheesy, it still has a charm.

  • I love this ending song. This takes me back and always made halloween special. Wish I had the song yesterday. I was little red riding hood at 29 yrs. old .

  • Worst witch anymore?

    Some compliment!

  • Terrible movie, but it's awesome. Faruiza Balk is the shit!

  • @countharlow I didn't know her before today, but... what does "is the shit" exactly mean??? Is it good or bad??? Because I liked her (no matter she's some older than me, hehe, in this movie she's... cutieful).

  • I was so stoked when I found this movie on YouTube... I am going on 30 and remember it like it was yesterday... I am glad to see that others liked it too... thought I might be alone LOL

  • You and me both. i am going on 30 as well and this was one of the movies I remember every Halloween along with Mr Boogadie. Memories...ahhh

  • Spot on says another going on 30 yr old. I must of been like EIGHT when I first heard that title song. Though I'm glad to say the girl in me stayed and the freckles (sometimes) go.

  • im crying here

  • I love this movie, but is anyone else bothered by the fact that one twin has a faint british accent and the other has a really southern one?

  • I'm a bit bothered by it...but it's such a bad movie that it doesn't matter...I still love it though.

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid and I will always love this movie...

  • I always wondered tis. Is that bat real or fake?

  • Would u like to practice with me?

    O absolutely

    Classic pedo line XD

  • @noolcava (O_O) <(...)

I just wrote something like that...

  • i love this movie!! :)

  • Tim Rice rules, but he looks like a big pedo in this movie... :D

  • time curry

  • oops Tim Curry

  • @SardaukarPrime Lol, the 2nd one I found saying the same.

  • those special effects are the worst.

  • They aren't what we have now, but actually they were pretty good for the time. This was an 1986 Holloween special after all. So they could probably do better now, but they are great for the time.

  • i agree--just think--20 years from now they will see effects in our movies like "harry Potter" and "fantastic 4" and laugh at how "primitive" they are !! lol =D

  • I completely agree! It's beautiful, poignant, sweet, empowering, honest, a little sad, and hopeful. Just like this whole film.

  • I loved this movie, it was my most favorite!

  • They shouldn't have put that song in the movie it's rather terrible.

  • i agree

    movie's so bad

    but i love it anyway

  • bummer part 7 not working

  • Omggaaahhhh!! I lovee this movie. I remember watching it when I was like 6:]]] Thanks for putting al eight parts up:] Only one problem...part seven doesn't come on. It says it expired or something. It'd be super awesome if you fixed it:]]]

    Thnxxxxxxx:]]

  • Thanks for putting all the parts up!! I used to LOVE watching this as a kid- we used to play in my backyard and pretend to be Mildred! It is way cheesy though.

  • my mom says when I was a little girl. I use to look like Mildred a lot. my hair was long as hers but the only different is that I have hazel green eye not brown ones. I was born in the same year this movie was made. I am 22 right now ugh I use to love it. when Disney would put it on tv on Halloween.

  • His Voice!*-*

  • This is a pretty cheesy movie. The "wicked" witches creep me out.

  • another thing...I LOOVE THE THEME SONG!! After all these years, it still one of the best theme songs I have ever heard! :-D

  • This video(and the whole movie) is SOOOOOO ME...just when you try your hardest, everything just goes wrong anyways. now Im 34, and I still feel like in some ways, I am the worst witch :-(

  • Ah! The Golden Age.

  • Aw the memories. Growing up wasnt easy, im in my 20's and still havent learned to fly. Mildred would kick harry potters butt any day.

  • Boy, Now I feel like watching that Wolves of Willoughby Chase and sadly I have not found that movie on youtube yet but atleast I found this one thanks guys I really REALLY enjoyed watching this again after all these yrs made me feel like a kid again...

  • Aw! I totally missed the generation where this movie was awesome- born too late! It's still SO cute though, corny graphics and all! I love Fairuza! Already commented on another part of this movie, but I just finished it now... They should play it again on TV!

  • I used to loooovvee this movie when I was young!! I'm 20 now and I still love it! (Flashbacks...lol). Thanks for posting!

  • And to think, this little girl from Canada made it in England. I still like her movies, The Craft, gas, food, lodging is also good and lets not forget Waterboy. She's good.

  • Thanks for putting this on youtube!! This used to be one of my favorite movies when I was a tiny tiny little kid (4-6?) and watched it all the time and seeing it again brings back so many great memories! Thank you!
