Hybrids are crap compared to putting a Hydrogen or HHO unit into your existing car, and using WATER for fuel. Cost? under $1000 (varies with vehicle size) savings? well, I don't need gasoline anymore, polution? nothing, only water drips outta the muffler, wear and tear on engine? less because burning hho dousn't create ANY carbon. and last but not least, NO extra battery's required. Hybrids were doomed before they were even designed.
You now see where this company is... taking millions of dollors from our government so that should tell you how much they know about whats better the car buyers and what they want... people who believe this must not be exposed to the outside world
@calvinblinkee Go and type "George Carlin save the planet". He explains it very well. SAVE THE WORLD? FUCKING KIDDING ME? The planet has been here for over 4 BILLION years and went through a lot rougher than just us and a gasoline car. This whole thing is a new religion and a modern SCAM.!!!!!!!!!!!
@alyr315 Yea it has went through rougher times and they naturally get back to normal. But now that we're here and are preventing it from getting back to normal. Lets see one example: Firefighters are putting out natural forest fires when they should be letting them burn. But of course they got houses there so noo.....
@calvinblinkee saving the world? the government only cares about money, or we'd all be driving cars that run on water, not expensive crap like this. And this running a vehicle on WATER has been PROVEN since 2002, why didn't the government go for that idea... Because water is free and it would put the fossil fuel industry out of business. they traded off a unit that can be mounted to any combustion engine for under $1000, for one that STILL uses fossil fuels and cost us 2x more in the end run.
so comparing a 4cyl 2.5l 175hp to a 6cyl 3l 255hp in price is in what way a good comparisson of how economical the subaru is. wouldn´t it make more sense to have something like the spec-B 3l legacy. would think that price would be closer or higher then the others and would loose out much worse in mpg.
Wow, bad comparison. The Accord hybrid was designed for performance, using the electic motor coupled with the V6 for good performance and decent mileage. Neither of the other cars have V6's and aren't as sporty. Plus shouldn't the legacy be compared to something smaller? Compare it to a Prius or a Civic hybrid would make better sense. Another subaru commercial.
gas NOW has an avg of 3.79 a gallon, which means the Camry saves 720 dollars a year in fuel over the subie. Subaru costs 2173 a year and the Camry costs 1453 a year.
Also, notice how Honda has dropped the Accord Hybrid? They figured out they were fooling themselves. Subaru's problem is they take too long developing "gizmos" that we all know sell cars. To their credit, Subaru's are the most cost-effective, fuel-efficient, safest (5-Stars on EVERY model), reliable (95% of S. sold in past 10 years are still on the road, I'd love to see H/T's #'s) AWD vehicles on the market, but as I said, they lack the "shiny" things American car buyers really focus on.
FYI, this is a training video for S. sales assoc. It's just the 2007 video that came out EARLY 2007. The new 2008 video shows the new models, new gas prices, etc...and the S. is still the better deal. The problem is ignorant ppl fall for Honda/Toyota's advertising of how fuel efficient their cars are, but when equipped right, those tin cans get just as "bad" gas mileage as most of their competitors. Bump hybrids, diesels' is where it's at, and S. is testing their new diesel in Europe right now...
Stupidest video ever, gas has been going up since 2000. You're gonna tell me your subaru will be more fuel efficient if gasoline is $4 or $5 by summer? Pretty stupid if you tell me on subaru's part.
Dated? Yes. Stupid? Relevent at the time.Nobody expected > $4/gal. Even so with the Camry, it will be over 5 years before you make up the difference in price. Also much more technology to break, battery replacment costs are not figured in, harder to service if something goes wrong, possible electricution hazards in an accident. Also the Legacy is 300 lbs lighter for better handling and control, not to mention AWD. Hybrids are an expesive way to advertise your political values. Cost to bennifit.
The next time you want to send a message to youtube viewers, you might want to consider a slightly more exciting production. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
In the way mentioned by other commenters. Accord hybrid, discontinued long before the video was posted by this user, was a "performance hybrid". Rising gas prices not taken into account. A general poo-pooing of proven hybrid tech. Whatever, it's lame.
What I want to hear from Subaru is when I can buy an electric in-wheel motor car from them. They have some testing in NYC now but I think they can do better.
I drive an '08 Legacy...and I work for Subaru...and Volvo...and Hyundai...and Mitsubishi...and Cadillac...and Hummer...and Saab...I could've gotten anything we sell...mf??? That's just rude...

Maybe people are buying Hybrids not to save money, maybe to save the world. Ever thought of that?
