@nusld as far as i know, traditionally, dragons were not meant to be purple or blue. red, white , and black should be the original colors, but over the years things change so much, the combination of pop culture and tradition is only a small part of it. these guys just meant to make it fun. there are so many more traditional things being influenced by pop culture, this is the least of it.

Now, young people are more into music like Party Rock, so if the lion dance continue to be like how it used to be, those simple beats Dong Qiang Dong Qiang, would this generation or maybe the next generation continue to carry out traditional

In the past a display of skill was to perform on a set of movable objects, like bots and chairs and stools, where you had to be careful while jumping on them otherwise you'll fall and injure yourself. Land too hard, and the platform will break, nowadays it's become jongs. So how do you progress as a team? you start from the floor, eventually you make new sequences, new obstacles like pots and chairs, patterns and stunts become more difficult. Your idea of progress is to shuffle?

I guess that will depend on where you are, and who is watching. There is no rule like the must of a bai and the 7star. But I doubt most lion dancers can fathom the look of a lion shuffling, it is just too hard to accept. The look of a lion shuffling just doesn't look right in their eyes. Lion dance will undoubtedly evolve but with respects to tradition. respect to tradition doesn't mean stay in the past, it means acknowledging the very origin and people who created lion dance.

@tchou86 you can have your opinion and dislike the set, but don't question the dedication or respect our club has. if you're jumping to such ridiculous conclusions from one video of a non-traditional performance purely for fun and entertainment, you need to give your close-minded head a shake.

@mrkurto I on the other was entertained by the creativeness from this set. but there are many flaws that were caught in the video. don't want to give you guys a hard time, but thought some honestly opinion should be shared. good job creating this routine it made me smile. maybe the purple lion in the middle shouldn't have been in the middle :P most flaws came from that lion. routine is great but definitely need alot more of practice with the lion and shuffling. good luck and add oil guys.

@Butterheadzombie i agree and acknowledge what you're trying to do. but honest word of truth would be, many flaws were caught in this video from the purple lion in the middle, it is totally disrespectful to flip the lion's head like that in the beginning, since you mentioned respect in this reply above.. and if you goto 0:41 I honestly don't know what that head sticking out of lion was totally about.. there are many other aspect I can discuss about but the dancers sure don't think like a lion...
