Muy hermosa esta cancion..una cancion muy sensible, con un desarrollo melodico impresionante, que no pierde el equilibrio dentro del cotexto..una estructura notable..
i will thanks, i'm open to every gender of music, but m. are not my kind of stff, unfortunaly i'm old enough to have lived the progressive rock era! i mean the real one the one of early 70's ( yes, genesis, elp, van der graaf g. ecc) wich was a kind of music that i used to like (i'm from italy and in my country prog was huge! we also had several good prog rock bands ) so i always rather get the original stuff (marillion were sort of prog revival in the 80"s-90's) but i will listen
O que você vai fazer? Fazer uma pedra do seu coração? Você pode definir as coisas direito? Ao separá-los? Você vai dormir à noite? Com o arado e as estrelas brilhando? O que você vai fazer? Com o gatilho e a arma? Isso vai definir as coisas direito Quando é dito e feito? Você vai dormir à noite? Existe muito amor para se esconder?
I note with interest that the troll calling himself JohnLennon100 has not replied. He or she has evidently adopted ten other identities here to abuse people with. As they say, I rest my case, this stands as a great song and, yes, I did play it with some excellent musicians and I am proud of the fact. I await your (undoubtedly fatuous) reply with interest.
I praised this band since I heard the first strumings of their demo song of "Grendel", which pre-dated the first Marillion album "A Script for a Jester's Tear". It's been brilliant to see this group of talented musicians get better with age. Rock-On guys !!!
Well John, thanks for your well thought out and intelligent response. I think it says rather more about you than either myself, my fellow musicians, Marillion or the music.
I had the great pleasure of jamming this with a group of Marillion-loving musicians for a few Marillion fans at a private gig last weekend and I have to say it was pretty emotional. Nothing like as accomplished as the original obviously but played with a great deal of passion. Doubly resonant in that I am from Northern Ireland. Great track.
@24567442 steve hogarth and after clutching at straws fish said that if it never made it big in the usa then he was done and he has done lots of his own stuff now
@rainofmemory You could tell that Fish was aiming at attracting an American audience with some of his lyrics, especially in the 'Clutching at Straws' album. Is the only validation for a band cracking America? He should have realised that they have bigger Fish to fry...
It's about the social & political unrest in Northern Ireland back in the 80s (and before) and its effect on ordinary civilians caught up in the violence. Steve once introduced the song in concert by saying, "This is a song for the ordinary people in Northern Ireland ... people who have to bring their kids up with soldiers in the streets ... people who want nothing to do with the troubles ... this is Easter."
As for the reasons behind the fighting, it's a long story ....
@Ken5244 FYI... Careful not to misinterpret the armed security forces on the streets as the problem. Our country was under daily attack by terrorist campaigns bombing the shit out of it, killing men, women and children from both sides of the 'religious divide'. Very sad times indeed..
Muito bom, lembrar desse ano, ganhei este ainda em LP, em um amigo oculto do meu primeiro emprego...Muita saudade!!! Abraço a todos..

Great song, cringeworthy Richie Sambora-like pose on the rocks though, may have been more worthy had Steve dropped the hat but an awesome song

I should have added, "Why are there so many stupid people in the world?" A very good question, one you might do well to ask yourself.
