The game is a massive time sink and I know why you did a time lapse as the materials not counting the terrain modification would take you hours upon hours to do. The game is fun all for a month tops until you figure out you're just working a second job when you get home from the first. Spend your money else where.

Flattening the landscape looks like a pain in the ass. How long did this take actually?

@Fromikeable Took three hours from first idea to make a video to the last screenshot. 30 minutes of it was preparations (making nails and planks) and 100 minutes real-time is actual video you see.

Flattening/digging is slow for new players, but with better tools and skills, you can dig much much faster :-) And it is much better achievement (for me) to build something that actually takes time

@MrDav4000001 try to play with settings under compatibility tab - mainly vbo and fbo support (one of my intel powered notebooks was able to run it when those two were set to extension)

I like the Idea of Wurm but it needs drastic improvements!Maybe a decent animation system,combat.Its well thought out but poorly structures i would love to see Wurm Flourishing in a few years :D

Haha oh how I miss playing Wurm :) Spending a weekend on building the most epic house in the world (Like everybody else) was just great! I even had a job for a guy who payed me (Real cash) to build walls in the wilderness server... I miss the old days :)

@Zackr27 look in event window. If it say "some corners can't be modified", it means there are trees or structures on and around your tile. If it says something about deed owner, then the tile is on deed and you are not allowed to modify it. Or it says something like that you are not skilled enough :)

@Zackr27 flattening is advanced option to alter terrain. Start with digging clay (will give you few point to start) and then dig in flattish area, so you increase your skill. It is very fast to get to skill 10, which allows you to dig in slopes 10*3 -> 30

i played this game for a half day and...out of patience...the fact, that i fought 2 hours with a cat and it almost killed me, tried to build, or just make something, and it was like 'cut a tree-, ok, wait 30 seconds, now cutting tree' and you are nowhere because you still need a bunch of tools and stuff to make a damn board to be able to start building one fu**ing wall for you damn house...

Wurm would be one of my favourite game, but with this waiting gameplay system, it fails :(

@holcickany Yeah, rolf developed this awesome system that removes people who just want instant gratification.

Also, think about it there's a limited area of space in the map - if everyone could just build a house in a matter of minutes or terraform a peace of land instantly, the game would be full of even more trolls and there would be no free space. Another thing is this game really isn't easy to start up in, and almost impossible to do on your own, building a house is easy with a few friends.

wurm is great not very active gameplay at its peak maybe a few hundred. its not famous mainly because of how difficult it is to grasp for new players minecraft is fairly easy and is self explaintoury. however wurm was made by what one....two people thats impressive.

In Wurm Online, it takes *SOME* time, but it's very satisfying and can be detailed easily.

@148word there are two account types - free and premium. With free you are limited to home (non-pvp) server and max 20 skill. All you see in this video is doable with free account, except horse riding. But premium is only 5€/month

@Rsbelza depends what you have. At least pottery bowl and lot of foraged and botanized items :) Fishing helps a lot. When you raise your hot food cooking skill to 15 and have farms wih vegetables, you can start making proper meals.

Or the other option is to get meditation rug and start meditating. When you hit skill 15, you can join a path. Path of love, level 3 have "refresh" ability, that will feed you to 100% food and 99% nutrition every 18 hours, so you really don't need to cook anymore :)

The ability to build your own house isn't what makes Wurm special, it's the satisfaction you get with surviving and building up from scratch in such a harsh game. It's like Minecraft for people who have a lot more time, and much bigger brains. Minecraft is certainly easier and faster paced. And in Wurm, you're never safe from animals and monsters.

@egfregfy4tgf3gtf There are 2 main things that make Wurm different from RuneScape, though their similarities are undeniable. Firstly, the communities for each game are completely different. RuneScape is full of children, Wurm isn't completely full of children(it depends on what server, and in some cases, what kingdom you play on). Wurm is not mainstream so the general playerbase is smaller, but as a result it's possible to make a difference, change the world of Wurm and gain a reputation for it.

I agree but my reply was based more about "how things works" in wurm. That guy you replied to just doesnt know wurm's mechaniques and he was interested how much work it cost in general. If he would join now, and play the game he would need to follow +/- my guidelines.

I know that if you keep things organised its even more simple. for e.g you could bring your own planks and the whole work would be just flating the area and nailing the planks :)

Not much, we only prepared nails (20 minutes) and planks (another 20)

@czDiXiE this is when you have all the materials heh. starting from scratch: 1.find a rock tile or dig dirt to uncover stone. 2.mine the entrence and keep mining further until you'll find iron ore 3.mine the ore and throw it into campfire(keep fulling fire with wood so it wouldnt die) 4. Make small anvil 5. Chop some trees and make some shafts from the wood logs 6. Make a hammer out of iron ore lump and shaft 7. make nails thats only the start :P
