Thanks so much for posting this video, I am hoping to teach myself basic sign language, and I am trying the "baby signing" fad with my daughter. This video was very helpful compared to others I have seen on here. :))
Glad you enjoyed it. If you're interested in teaching your baby to sign, you should check out my website - it's a brand-new site, so not much there at the moment, but there will be an entire section on baby signs. *smile* Email me for the address.
Although the focus of this video is the numbers 1 through 20, there are signs for numbers much greater. If you know the sign for "thousand" and the sign for "million" then you would see that the sign for "billion" is very similar to those two numbers (only done with 3 taps instead of 2 for million, and 1 for thousand).
Hi i've known the numbers since i was little the way you did them in your video but now i'm taking asl in college and the teacher taught us 13-15 differently. I don't know which ways right though.
I have AS and BS degrees relating to ASL. I am also state-certified in Texas to teach ASL. So you will know that what you see in my videos is taught by a qualified ASL teacher (me). I've seen a number of other videos on YouTube and around the Internet that are bad and inaccurate. So, I'm working on a website that will eventually allow everyone to learn ASL online.
yeah, i've also seen a couple of videos that aren't accurate but i try and help out people by correcting them if know they made a mistake. I've known sign language since i was little but the way i learned it was different from what they are teaching me now.
I really appreciated your video, thank you for posting! I do have a question, though. I noticed that you flicked your fingers twice while doing 11 and 12. Im a new student to ASL and Ive been practicing only flicking oncejust wondering if there was any difference.
Yes, there is a difference. "11" and "12" must be flicked twice (just as the video shows). A single flick has different meanings or could simply be viewed as "1" and "2."
Ummm actually he did all of it right Thank you for this video. I have only had my 2nd day of beginners asl but its nice to study by watching someone do it and repeat.
loosen up a lil dude!! hahahah thats funny! you know.. its ok to change your facial expression! its not against the law! hah. jk jk . but thxx for the video.!
*grin* Actually, my expression on this video (and one or two others) is so wooden mainly because I was extremely tired when making that particular video. Hence, lack of expression. No worries, I'll be redoing a number of my videos soon. Thanks!
Eh? I'm Deaf. If there's any music playing it's not something I put in on purpose. I recorded this in my classroom after school, so it's possible someone might have been playing music in the hallway or something. *grin*
thank you so much for showing common errors made when signing. it really helped me with some confusion i was having.

so are 9 and F almost the same?
riskykitty1 3 years ago
Yep. That's correct. Basically it's the context of what is being signed that helps the viewer know the difference.
