Mostly cows are like young children in that they not only thrive on routine but will follow it fairly easily if they are patiently trained. They want to go in the same order, take the same path to their hay, etc. The younger heifer no longer nurses as mama does not tolerate it. Two year old heifer sometimes nurses as her mama will tolerate it. The relationship between us and our cows is reciprocal which is satisfying. We each feed and care for the other in a variety of ways for the good of all.
It's interesting how you can train your cows to go right where they are supposed to, to be milked. I guess that milk is heavy and they want it out? I can imagine that makes it more pleasurable...knowing they want your help in a way. Are the little cows still nursing?
you milk your cows? but cows don't natually give milk...what do u do with the baby cows?

We are raising 2 of the heifers now and we sold a calf back to the original family we purchased our pregnant cow from.
