I am a James Brown Tribute artist and I can say that this man did a good vocal job and I am sure James Brown would have appreciated the gesture. His performance and stage presence needed work. I think denying that this man messed the song up on the basis of his skin color is wrong.
I am an American (black) and yes our culture have been stolen from; however not every white person is this way, in order to sing like this guy he has to appreciate its origins and he does. Good vocal job!!!

@CCDevlin I am very open to all types of music; however from rock to rap originated from blacks and that includes Techno. I don't think what can be viewed as stealing in all cases because music is an art; however when some artist regardless of their race don't credit the origin of the music its stealing. Justin Bieber is an example of "stealing". Eric Clapton has soul, Hall & Oates has soul, Elton John has soul and I respect them as artist a cat like Justin Bieber I will never.

JB changed the face of music, which you probably didn't know, but many of his songs were not allowed on white stations. In fact, his say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud was banned in the states. It took wolfman jack, a DJ, to play it into the US from Mexico for whites to hear the song and it scared America to death. Why do you crakkas lie and say you are black?

@ddsharper Further nobody "owns" any type of music. I don't accuse Black artists of ripping off the European musical scales they use. I don't accuse Wynton Marsalis of ripping off White people when he records a Classical album. The fact is "imitation is the greatest form of flattery". Since fewer and fewer African Americans play Blues, Jazz and old style R&B any more it's been up to other races, primarily Whites and Asians, to preserve the legacy.
