  • Beautiful video and wonderful music but please provide the names of the painters and identify the key figures in the photographs we are looking at. I'd like to share it with my children in a more meaningful way. Mesi et kenbe fot

  • The first painting is of Emperor Dessalines 1804. The second one is of generals Dessalines and Petion at the siege of Saint-Marc on a French stronghold 1803.

The third picture is of General Maitland and the British surrendering Port-au-Prince to Toussaint Louverture in 1799.

Fourth one is the battle of Vertières when the French had no choice but to evacuate and surrender the Island to a non stop Haitian Onslaught to their entire depleting expedition.

  • Wow... this video is so beautiful.

  • I love it.the picture tell a story.

  • Wonderful video! Please tell me, who composed this beautiful music? Where can I get it?

  • printo1, this post has truly moved me. I needed this. It seems we began a fight long ago and never really stopped fighting or dying. My heart and prayers to Haiti. Our future is inextricably tied to Haiti's next renaissance. Merci!

  • we fight ,we die for a cause for freedom and thank to all my ancestors to make me free from slavery today and thank you again...

  • Fact::: In 1842, on a per capita basis, Haiti's standing army was more than twice the size of Britain's, as well as of most other major European powers.

  • In life we should always persevere in all that we do. Mental strength is stronger than physical strength. Be happy today and work hard for a better tomorrow. Never engage in criminal or illegal activities, that will get us no ware. Always try to continue your education no matter your age or social status. Life has many wonderful surprises. To be happy is your birth right.

  • Ok. And what does aid to Haiti from the USA has to do with this video?

And the answer to your question is Haiti became poor because of the emergence of the united states in the new world, a brutal, racist country that would stop at nothing to promote the idea of white supremacist. They use their size advantage and demagogies to commit atrocities against our beloved country. Political assassination, extortion, terrorism. Just to name a few

  • @ef11226 100% with you they also go and train F.B.I.s and D.E.As in haiti that are destoying it.

  • Wow Jaques44 quite a filthy little mouth you have there... do you kiss your mother with it too?

In my post, I pointed out that 75 cents of every dollar in Haiti comes from foreign aid.... and you ask ME to stay out of THEIR business?

  • @59Gretsch haha he must be really stupid.he know its a fact so he/she can't deniye it.

  • haitins desend from africa just like jamicans and african americans do so whats so diffrent about thim from any other black we all share the same mother land africa

  • There is no difference really, we all carry the same blood line from West Africa. We all inherit the same problems as Africans living in the diaspora. We all have brain wash self hater's in our communities.

Haiti only differ in terms of history and being the only independent black state in the new world.

  • Thank you for posting

  • Your very welcome! The History of Haiti is very inspiring, it gives us strength. We should live by example, leave behind for the generations to come.

    (Vive Ayiti)

  • 1804 represent, great tools is the internet the more I learned about my culture the more I understand why so many are jealous. Haitian need to be proud beside anything

  • haiti has one of the richest cultures in the world

  • That's interesting..and the music is also nice

  • Yeah, I think Haiti has the most interesting history in the Caribbean. I recently ordered the perfectly titled book "Avenger's of the New World" by Laurent Dubois; can't wait to get into it.

I've heard people say that the Africans were weak, easily submitted, never rebelled and lost all their native/religious traditions during slavery...but none of that is true for the Haitians...as is shown in the history of the Haitian Revolution and the Vodoun traditions they retained.

  • "If we take a look at the past-at what we had to do to be where we are today-we would be proud to be Haitians. We will find in ourselves a new strengh and we will be able to move foward with confidence. For, to have accomplished what we have, we could not be ordinary men."

    --ALAXANDRA PETION(APRIL 22, 1817)

  • Haitian History is fascinating. The Jews honor Moses for leading them out of bondage to a new land. The forefathers of Haiti did not run away, they defeated the three super powers of their day, Great Britain, Spain and France. Seized the Island through victories of wars then declaring independence in 1804. Thats Astonishing.

  • I've been to the Citadel when I was 8. We rode on a donkey to get up that mountain! then once inside...I aw bones on the ground and FREAKED OUT!

    lol, I'll never forget.hehe

  • I'm sure it was nothing sinister, people from the north are usually historical and cultural. People of Haiti in general are rather loving and friendly. Until foreign influence start teaching how to hate one another.

  • Toussaint..who can't recognize that dude.

I need to study more about our history.

  • you will joy it once i got started i couldnt get enough. I love Haiti with all ma heart. everything i do is Haiti.
