Childhood abuse and after effects in adulthood

Thanks for sharing your story. I am so sorry for the abuse that you received.  Thank God that you had your Aunt Debbie to provide a safety net for you. Obviously, your parents had nothing postive to provide you in the way of nurturing and support. I experienced a similar pattern. Thank you for your openness. I was just talking with my rmmate about my childhood abuse and trying to explain to him how missed experiences (learning to trust) does have a culprit - a baby or a young child is not responsible for such things, that's the guardian's responsibility, if they fail, they're to blame for it forever. Good to hear you're getting married, I think for men child abuse can make them much less desirable to girls. Men on the other hand will date a girl who was abused.

I was raised Roman Catholic, so I am educated on those beliefs. I cannot lie and say that I still follow that path, but I believe everyone finds solace in different faiths. Hello I can definitely relate to your story... I won't repeat the things that were said to me as a child but along the same lines as yourself. I just wanted to give a ray of hope that has been a lifeline to me through depression and alot more... And that is God. Coming to Him in prayer, allowing Him to heal my wounds as I forgave those who hurt me. It has given me strength, esp knowing that He loves me thro it all and His opinion matters most :) i hope that helps, feel free to reply
