Well, irrelevant of what's happened in he past, the fact is the situation is bad for the aboriginals today (which from the comments, I'm assuming this vid is about) and their current situation was not directly caused by the events of the past (stolen generation) but instead by half-hearted management from consecutive governments, and little to no leadership within the aboriginal communities themselves. I think the Intervention was the only thing with a hope of fixing the problem and it's gone.

Mate, I'm against handouts for any colour and I'm aboriginal. It makes little sense to suggest aboriginals get everything for free or they're "laziness" is there reason for their education issues. The ones that are living in the northern territory can't get access to computers or radios for distance/correspondace education so how are they supposed to get an education? I do have some sympathy for the ones that live in remote communities like Booroloola and the like, but there are 1000's within Major cities that just do nothing and bludge. If there are aboriginals that can make senior leadership roles in government the its clear the mechanisms are there for "any" person reguardless of color or creed to make something of themselves. Well, irrelevant of what's happened in he past, the fact is the situation is bad for the aboriginals today (which from the comments, I'm assuming this vid is about) and their current situation was not directly caused by the events of the past (stolen generation) but instead by half-hearted management from consecutive governments, and little to no leadership within the aboriginal communities themselves. I think the Intervention was the only thing with a hope of fixing the problem and it's gone.

Very slim chance I know but between Australia doing the invading and someone else invading Australia I'd say the later would be more likely. It's a resource rich country, with lots of unprotected coast line, has a small defense force (granted still larger than NZ), and is sparsely populated. And like you said at least with NZ people would probably not want it so they're safe :P. Can that be said about Australia?
